Ethereal Sophism
This Hospital Saved My Life when my long term MD suddenly abandoned me, and without St. Francis assistance, would have died as a result. My MD terminated my treatment spontaneously with none of his legally obligated duties to provide and establish me with another doctor of competent quality when - after close to 6 years, over 5000 appointments, ProBono, and the experience (for the first time) of improvement with my illness with him, after a decade prior with a dozen other MDs of various fields, I remained in need of treatment with a suitable substitute of availability, specialization, and treatment options similar or equal to those of my MD at the time of abandonment. In addition to the subsequent damages I suffered (see Legal Definition of Patient Abandonment,) as a result of the illegal termination, medically, physically, financially, and legally. My MD also chose to place false information on my Medical Record with a clause to allow access to it va any public and/or background check standard to employment (especially as I was - after 12 years and 500K of education,) working in the field of International Social Welfare particular to Healthcare Reform Availability to those severely affected by long term war or serious trauma. I lost my insurance, disability, employment then and future opportunities for - especially since my then MD *also* decided to place Travel Restrictions upon me standard as a result of the nature of the false information, making the entire scope of my career inaccessible to me. St. Francis was the only hospital in San Francisco who saw passed his felonious actions and treated me nonetheless, with the standardized methods applicable in such situations, via multiple attempts to contact my MD or his substitute. Their efforts were to no avail despite the fact that they saved my life, the subsequent 3 years which have gone by (long past the statute of limitations for Felonious Abandonment charges,) of denials/refusals/ignorance of/non-cooperation and inability for assistace by a total of 91 Advocates/Rep- resentaties/Attorneys/Mediators/Other MDs/Police Organizations/Other Professionals and more, my health has deteriorated to such an extent that, esp. w/o applicable insurance, and thusly inaccessible medication necessary to treat an otherwise terminal condition, I have endured episodes of broken bones gone untreated, cognitive damages as a result of the sudden stoppage of the multiple medications my then MD had been prescribing at (unbeknownst to me) extremely high dosages at the time, inability to obtain any employment relative or not to my level of education and experience and thus total loss of all asests; even the now proven false information - available as proof to my MD at the time of these events, that the information he was asserting was not only false but brought about my the illegal actions of his colleague, my record remains unchanged. My status is worse ten times over, and wrongful death is a very likely future possibility. I do not have the funds any longer to thank St. Francis for their efforts, as I would normally. However I urge all visitors, residents, professionals, and all applicable members of society to steer clear of any other San Francisco based Hospital in any emergency situation other than the genuine ethics and departments of St. Francis.

THIS REVIEW IS ONLY FOR THE PSYCH WARD AT ST. FRANCIS. I AM 72 AND HAVE SUFFERED WITH DEPRESSION MOST OF MY LIFE. SOMETIMES IT IS SO SEVERE I HAVE BEEN HOSPITALIZED, RECENTLY IT WAS ALL PILING UP AND I WAS EXPERIENCING ANGER AND SUICIDAL THOUGHTS. I ENDED UP IN THE PSYCH WARD AT ST FRANCIS AND IT WAS HORRIFYING . MOST OF THE STAFF COULDNT GIVE A DAMN ABOUT THE PATIENTS. 80% OF THE TIME THEY ARE TYPING ON THEIR COMPUTERS,10% OF THE TIME THEY ARE YELLING AT ,HARASSING OR TERRIFYING THE PATIENTS FOR VIOLATING A VERY LONG LIST OF RULES,10 THEY MIGHT HELP IF THEY ARE IN THE MOOD. THE RULES INCLUDE NO CELLPHONES,COMPUTERS,TVS.THEY DO THEIR BEST TO KEEP THE PATIENTS SCARED AND ISOLATED. MY CLOSEST FRIEND AND EMERGENCY CONTACT IS DEAF SO THE PAY PHONE IN THE LOBBY USELESS TO ME. I SPOKE TO THE DR. IN CHARGE AND WAS TOLD I COULD HAVE 10 MIN A DAY ON MY PHONE. OTHER THAN THAT IT WAS LOCKED UP. WHEN I RETURNED THE PHONE TO A STAFF MEMBER IT WAS NOT LOCKED UP AND IT WAS TAKEN. I WAS LIVID. THEY FINALLY FOUND IT. THE NEXT TIME I JUST KEPT THE PHONE. IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT THE ROOM DOOR WAS SLAMMED OPEN AND A TERRIFYING MAN CAME IN YELLING AND DEMANDING MY PHONE, AFTER THAT IT BECAME MUCH WORSE I WAS NOT GIVEN ANY MEDS, VISITORS WERE TOLD I WAS NOT A PATIENT,NO CLEAN SHEETS AN ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE. WHEN I WAS DISCHARGED I HAD TO LOCK MYSELF IN MY APARTMENT FOR SEVERAL DAYS BECAUSE I WAS ANGRIER.MORE DEPRESSED AND SUICIDAL THAT I WAS BEFORE. SO IF YOU ARE DEPRESSED,SUICIDAL.FEELING MURDEROUS STAY AWAY FROM ST. FRANCIS. GO TO LANGLEY PORTER AT UCSF, SF GENERAL.,MT ZION,CPMC ANYWHERE BUT ST.FRANCIS BECAUSE THEY TRULY DON.T GIVE A DAMN ABOUT THE PEOPLE WH COME TO THEM FOR HELP!!!

If you are low-income or disabled, make sure to take someone with you. The default perspective in this hosptial, is that everyone is on drugs or drunk. Everyone low-income is suspect. I was taken in without my walker. I cannot walk without it. The doctor said to hand me two pills (not opiates, I wasnt drug seeking, dont take drugs) and for me to leave. I was sobbing in terror of not only implications for my future health, but how I would get home, as a physically disabled woman alone. The arrogance and sexism of the male doctor was beyond belief. The total dismissal of another human and another humans suffering was beyond belief. The nurse came in while I was feeling ill and sobbing in fear of getting home, and reassured me she would not let him do that to me. She got me a walker and I paid for a cab home. Dont go in alone, if you can help it, so you can have an advocate as to your medical history, a witness as to their behavior, and to lessen the chances the doctors will even treat a person that way to begin with.

I was verbally and physically assaulted in front of the entire ER staff and patients in waiting room, as well as in front of Security guards and two SF PD. They said and did nothing to prevent it or help. And to make matters worse, the issue for which went to the er was completely unresolved. Chronic pain due to a neck injury is turning unbearable, I basically begged them for xrays/mri o discover he source of the problem and deal with it correctly, rather than just masking the pain, but they sent me packing after 5 hours of them wandering around like city workers on a street crew. I just called and asked if I could come in today for xrays and the Clerk named DAVE said basically that I would just have to come in and take my chances again and that he didnt know if I would actually get to see a doctor and that I would just have to do whatever they thought best. ST FRANCIS SUCKS

Staff SAYS that they care about patient issues and family but in practice they dont give a rats ass and treat you like you are nothing but a bother to them. VERY uncooperative. Like pulling teeth to get them to do ANYTHING other than the bare minimum that they are required to do. They make a stressful situation a hundred times worse by their apathy and disregard. Cannot even get a paper signed in two weeks time! Staff was unaware of their patients name after he had already been in their 10 bed unit for over a month.
