Stay away from Dr Mark Taheri and May Dental. In my opinion, Dr Taheri is negligent at best and a crook at worst. He quoted my wife nearly $600 in unneeded / misdiagnosed treatment and offered me nearly $2,000 worth of work (kind of a lot considering we went in for covered cleanings). We had high-hopes for the good doctor. We were assigned to him through my wifes insurance company. We saw he had 90 reviews on Yelp - and an impressive 4.5 stars. We figured wed be in good hands. We were wrong. My wife was offered a $60 cleaning rinse. She asked what it was for. She was told that it would get her mouth extra clean. She explained she was there for a cleaning and whatever the standard amount of clean was would be fine. She had to decline the treatment one more time to another person who tried to sell it to her after the first guy failed. Then she spoke to the doctor. Shes had three cavities in her life - but he managed to find FOUR on her first visit. She was surprised as she brushes and flosses regularly, and has no oral discomfort (thats what she said). Dr Taheri assured her that she did have four cavities and showed her her teeth in a mirror. She said she didnt see anything - but he assured her the cavities were there. After all, he was pointing to them with a metal scrapy thingy. My wife was upset when she got home because we were looking at a $600 bill to take care of her teeth. I assured her it was OK, and that if she needed the work, she needed the work. I went to the dentist the next week. Unsurprisingly, it started with a high-pressure sales pitch for the $60 rinse that would have made a time-share salesman proud. I was offered the rinse by two three... and was even offered a discount on it if the price was holding me back. (This is something Id expect from a car salesman, not a dental professional). I do not have movie star teeth - but I have never been made to feel like they were about to fall out of my skull. And even though I knew better, by the end of my visit I actually thought if I didnt get the nearly $2k in procedures Dr Taheri recommended, I would be toothless, homeless and unlovable. After I left, a bit shell-shocked from the experience... I started thinking back and realized that Id actually talked about one of his treatments with a dentist in Beverly Hills. That dentist told me to stay away from anyone who would offer that particular treatment. My wife and I had never ever needed any major dental work and werent in pain... so we decided to get a second opinion before spending nearly $2600 on dental work we didnt know we needed. My wife just got back from the new dentist. How many cavities do you think she had? If you guessed zero, you are correct! She had a filling that was breaking from one of her two previous cavities. However, the dentist assured her her teeth were very healthy and she had no cavities. He is also charging half the price to fix the filling that Dr T wanted to charge her to fix one of her non-existent cavities. The new dentist told me my teeth were in great condition - and recommended against what Dr. Taheri had suggested under any circumstances. I honestly dont know what to think. I want to give him the benefit of the doubt and say hes just a really, really bad dentist. However, you have to be smart to get through dental school... and maybe you mis-diagnose the breaking filling as a cavity... fine... but to see four cavities that another dentist cant find... I mean, had the other dentist found even two or three I would have just thought difference of opinion... But read the other less glowing reviews. There seems to be a pattern of mis-diagnosis and recommendations of high-priced treatments. Stay away.

I have always been afraid of going to the dentist and because of that ended up with a lot of issues from not getting my routine dental exams. After much review I decided to visit Dr. Taheri. He was extremely understanding and patient with me. Unlike most he took the time to explain my treatment plan in detail and made the entire experience as painless as possible. He also has state of the art technology and machines in his office that made everything that much easier. Dr. Taheri and his entire staff have truly helped me get over my fear of visiting the dentist and I am so thankful to them for that. So if your like me, dont even hesitate...you will always be in good hands at Dr. Taheris office!

If youve had any doubts about a dentist this is the place to go! Dr. Taheri is the man and you can rest assured knowing that youre in the hands of the best of the best. The staff is always welcoming and he always does top notch work. Im doing you all a favor if youre reading this review to figure out whether or not to check this office out, so do yourself a favor and book your appt with Dr. Taheri. Straight up best dentist experience with best quality work. I trust this man cant say the same about others.

Ive said it before and Ill say it again... Dr Taheri is the best in the game. Not only does he thoroughly explain what he is doing but he takes his time and doesnt half ass anything. Ill be relocating to Orange County and probably still come back for work. Lastly his team is also amazing and do a great job!!! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND DR TAHERI!!!

Absolutely happy I found Dr. Taheri and his team. I went in for the zoom whitening treatment. The procedure was performed with grace and finesse. I was kept inform on what was going on during each step. Dr. Taheri truly cares about his patients. Definitely recommending friends and family. If youre considering a visit to May Dental, do it.

Definitely one of ten more professional offices all around in the SCV. The office has a friendly and pleasant environment. Dr Taheri is definitely one of the more caring and thorough professionals Ive been around. Highly recommend them for dental work.
