I brought my 15 year old Russian Blue kitten to be checked out because she was peeing and drinking more than usual after many tests and $500 later I was told she had diabetes I was instructed to change your diet and give her insulin twice a day I was also told to do testing on her urine at home which I found very difficult there was no other suggestion to do anything better so I decided to bring her in once a week to have them help me do it this was very stressful for Kitty because they had to catheterize her each time then I was told I had to leave it there a whole day so they could get a better reading which I did when I brought her home that night she was so dehydrated she drank a whole bowl of water in about 10 seconds she then threw it all up she cried for quite a while and I had to calm her down I realized she hadnt eaten or drinking anything all day long for all those hours she was there probably due to the fact that she was very nervous being there no one bothered to tell me this or even call to find out how she was doing the doctor that had been seeing her doctor Deegan I found out was now on maternity leave and I could no longer see her I had to see the other doctor when I brought her in for her next check up the technician took her in the back to test her and said she had a cut on her rear and I did not know how it got there they cleaned it and brought her back out to me I wanted to speak to the doctor and was told that I had that making a special appointment to see him I asked if you could please call me at least this he never did I never bother to call me at all of course I really wanted to talk to him about the condition of my kitty and I did not appreciate that at all so I decided to go somewhere else I got all her records and made an appointment at another veterinarian they told me I did not have to leave her there all day that if I was able to I could bring her in every four to five hours and they would test her blood that way rather than stressing out so badly by leaving her there all day this I did and it worked out much much better I had wished that they would have suggested this to me I have never received another call from that doctor to this day I am very upset and disappointed in the treatment of my kitty I will not go back there and I do not recommend this place at all

I have belief that the veterinary staff are competent and qualified. And I have been bringing my pets for the last 17 years to this veterinary office. Cats and dogs. Indeed, up until 2013, I would have rated this place a 5+. However, the numerous visits since have been less than personal. (Some staff members excepted). I was outraged recently when, during a recent visit to get a $52.00 physical exam for a doggys upset tummy, lasting no more than 10 minutes (exam and history total time), I emerged with a small plastic tube, given to me by the technician to collect a fecal exam ... only to have it snatched out of my hands by the cashier because I refused to pay for a fecal exam until I brought the fecal sample in. When I asked what I was to do in collecting and bringing a sample in, her response was to say "you are on your own". I couldnt get out of that place fast enough ... and I noted that in the end, I paid nearly $200.00 for an exam, antibiotics, probiotics and canned food for his tummy. NO XRAYS, NO MICROSCOPIC STUDIES, NO BLOOD (not that these all werent suggested in written form, to the tune of over $600 ... So ... when u dont want those studies, they mark in the file you have refused. It is obvious that this office is trained to "Mark up" whenever possible, upsell the suggested necessary diagnostic tools (like suggesting a urinalysis at a cost of $50 during a digestive/bowel issue. I made note of the time I left... time to get a new veterinarian.

I was facing a crisis. Un-neutered female rabbits have a 90+ percent change of getting uterine cancer by the age of 5. Bunny was nearly 5. My then vet refused to operate because Bunny was too fat. . Slimming her down was a problem,..she loved her treats of bananna, apple, etc and shed run around my feet and stand on her hind legs begging. It was so difficult to turn her down. By searching on the internet and talking to some rabbit rescue sites, I was recommended to Dr. Kaufman. Dr Kaufman agreed to operate...the fat problem...no problem! Dr Kaufman gave Bunny a tummy tuck and removed about 1 lb of fat during her operation. Good it was done, she already had a population of tumors in her uteris. Female rabbits in particular have a fatty deposit under their chin...a "dewlap." When Bunny came back from her operation she had a perfect hour glass figure...A curvaceous dewlap, a slim tummy and of course very big hips..what an attractive girl! Ive been going to Dr. Kaufman ever since. Bunny is now 9. She has not been in a cage for 8 years. She runs free in the house. Is litter box trained and sleeps under our bed. She has since regained that weight. Id certainly recommend Dr. Kaufman. Unlike a couple of other reviewers I have no complaint about prices. I forget how much her tummy tuck and neuter operation was but it was very reasonable.

We have been taking our pets here for several years now. Two people had recommended this practice. On our first visit one of our cats was given a better diagnosis than we had received elsewhere. One of the techs picked him up and hugged him. This was the beginning of the wonderful treatment, of both our pets and us as well. Dr Cordy and staff has always been courteous and accommodating. We have come to trust that they have animals welfare at heart. When we have had to euthanize a couple of our cats over the years, everyone was sympathetic and understanding. We received plants and cards. We have had a couple of miracles also, as with our 12 year old dog Winston, whom we adopted 2 years ago. He had a problem and we were advised that recovery would be lengthy. Of course we have people pray; that and the skill at Harbor Animal Hospital ended in a great result. We are just sorry they moved from Barrington to Warren; cats hate to go in cars. But we still bring our pets there.

I have been taking my pets to Dr. Kaufman @ Harbor Animal Hospital for about 23 years now and I cant say one bad thing about any of my experiences there. They are the sweetest most caring team of people caring for your pets imaginable. They have cared for my rabbits, cats and presently my 2 dogs, all of which have had some pretty serious problems. I have never been told that they cant see me, they always squeeze me in. My phone calls are always returned, sometimes @10PM in the evening. My dogs actually like going there so much that they drag me inside and my lab, well, she smiles for the staff the moment she gets in the door because shes so happy to see everybody. She thinks its her 2nd home because theyre so good to her. So if your thinking about coming here, by all means, go for it, you wont be sorry. And the prices, they are most definitely reasonable.
