This was my 1st time at Western Vet Group and Ive heard and read many great things about it. So, because of that, I was very disappointed in my experience there. I took my dog in for a growth on his belly and after examining my dog and taking him back for a few procedures, it was decided the growth needed to be removed and I was presented with a "treatment sheet with costs". I was a bit surprised at the cost so I started asking what a few of the procedures were for and whether I really needed them. Turned out I didnt, they were just "recommended." So, I did manage to reduce the cost by a few hundred dollars but Im sure many people dont ask those questions and pay for things that arent 100% necessary. The doctor returned a call to let me know the results of my dogs lab work on his growth prior to surgery and she spoke so fast and in terms I didnt understand. But, the more I asked for clarification and to repeat what she was saying, the more she seemed annoyed with each question (you should realize we arent doctors). I returned 3 more times (the morning of surgery when I had questions about the surgery but there was no doctor there, the afternoon I picked him up and today to have his sutures removed) and I never spoke or saw a veterinarian on any of those visits. Its hard to develop a relationship with a veterinarian when you go in 4 times and only meet the doctor for a few minutes on the 1st visit. And the front reception area is like Grand Central Station so that sometimes they overlook you also. And I really wanted to love this place! Maybe theyve gotten too large since they moved out of their original location.

This is NOT the same good place I went to a year ago. While waiting over 2 hours when I had a set appointment I made 4 days ago for a Dr. Eileen; I was reading a Cat Fancy magazine and it had article "Top 10 Things To Look For To Find The Best Vet" Western Vet Group only had THREE out of the 10... I have gone before and they do have an attitude of avarice, but today was INSANE! And Dr. Eileen NEVER EVEN EXAMINED MY CAT-- for temp and weight check - I was charged $55!!! And NO HELP whatsoever just "Well the cat may be losing hair due to the flea drops you are using" Oh Doc-- the ONES your office said to use?!! Advantage for Cats? That I BOUGHT HERE?!!! Oh, well then let us do some blood tests and you should get more rabies vaccination-- but LOOK my cat had the FVRCP HERE 3 years ago-- and it is not needed again until 2016-- HERE it is (I keep my own file) OH WEll what if your cat bites me-- we should do another rabies vaccination-- WHAT?! My cat is INDOORS for one-- so WHERE would my cat even get rabies??? Also, arent you prescribing OVER vaccinations ??? Then she says it is a STATE LAW-- for cats?!! Come home to view the Dept of Health and Human Services about mandatory rabies vaccinations-- NOPE no such law-- NOT even for dogs-- just encouraged-- and there it is EVERY FIVE YEARS.... IDIOTS run this asylum! Greedy, uneducated LIARS.

Problem: My indoor-only cat had soft stool Cost: over $1000 in just two days Result: My cats stool is firmer, and cat is doing fine. Many tests were done (barium, 2 sets of x-rays, blood and organ checks, laxatone, muscle spasm medication which we never gave our cat) All of the tests came out normal and the vet still does not know why the cat had loose stool. Dr. Yoo also wanted to do an ultrasound (another $350), but we denied it. Looking back, I highly doubt that all of these procedures were necessary. The prices here are high and they never consider giving discounts to long time customers. Recently, without permission, the technician (under the vets orders) vaccinated my cat only two months after she had already been vaccinated. This can cause an onset of sarcoma (cancer) in cats. We had Dr. Yoo check our cat for Giardia. The results according to him consistently showed our cat as positive. He was ready to prescribe Giardia medication but I was hesitant and suspicious seeing that this was the 4th time our indoor cat came up positive after being vaccinated by him. Dr. Yoo was pushy in administering Giardia treatment, but we rejected it. We had our cat checked by a reputable vet clinic in the South Bay who found that our cat was NEGATIVE and that there were no traces of Giardia cysts contrary to what Dr. Yoo was pushing for.

I had been with another vet before Western Veterinary Group but was not really happy with the service, staff and doctors there. I think the only reason I stayed with them was because they were close to home. A few years back when my son found a little baby Chi on the street, I was looking to get her spayed, we found Western Vet. Group ( I thought this was a good time to look for another Vet) My first visit, I instantly felt like it was "home" as the staff was so friendly and welcoming. You could tell this is a place that truly loves animals, and will treat your pet as if they were their own. Their rates are reasonable, fair and upfront. Their office is beautiful modern and clean. Dr. Mike is the most caring and compassionate person as well as being an extremely experienced and knowledgeable Vet. All the doctors there are excellent and the staff warm and friendly. Its been 7 years now we have been going to Western Vet Group and I could not be more pleased and satisfied. It continues to be the same well run caring office year after year. Im so grateful I found my fur babies a place that I trust for their care. Dr. Mike, Kristen, Tina, Maria, and the rest of the staff you are awesome! Thank you for your continued care and love for Coco.

Western Veternariany Group is the best vet hospital in California, maybe the country. We adopted our cat, Jake from WVG. Dr. Mike saved him after a bad car accident that broke Jakes jaw & damaged his eye. Jake is such loving cat, I believe, because he was treated so well in the year that he was fostered by WVG. Jake now has cancer and he has been in & out of the hospital over the last two months. All of the vets and techs love on him all day long. My husbands company delivers animals around the city to vets and groomers and the airport and he has known and worked with Dr. Mike for years, so he is often there and he saw first hand how loving these people are to their patients. They treat these animals like they have the animals family standing over their shoulder watching every move and action they perform. However long we have left with our boy is going to be filled with love and gratitude to the wonderful people at Western Veterinary Group. We can never thank them enough for all the happiness theyve given us.

Soon after my dogs first visit, he was put on thyroid medicine for low thyroid. I was asked to bring my dog in every three months for a blood test to keep track of the thyroid level. I was also encouraged to buy the food the office sold for a bladder crystal problem they said my dog had after many tests they charged me for. When I got suspicious I changed Vets and my new Vet said that my dogs thyroid level was sky high at 6.7 and it was supposed to be 2.0 and that the thyroid medicine my old vet was giving us was way over the limit and too much! The new Vet also said that my dog had no crystals in his bladder! The new vet said that my dog just needs a thyroid level blood test every 6 months not every 3 months. My dog is now on a low dose of thyroid medicine and is eating Eagle Pack Holistic Select Duck and Oatmeal. I will never go back or recommend Crenshaw Animal Hospital in Torrance, nor would I recommend it to anyone, for the safety of animals.
