We were vacationing in Lake Tahoe with our two English Bulldogs when on the second night we noticed our 4 1/2 yr. old male limping with impaired breathing. We took him to Donner-Truckee Veterinarian Hospital as soon as we could get an appointment. He was diagnosed as having a sprain, $350.00 later and a splint, and the doctor trying to "upsale" us on expensive palate surgery, facial fold surgery and referral to a dentist where we live, we left with our dying dog in acute distress. His condition continued to deteriorate that evening and we called their office THREE times and over 24 hours later before a doctor would talk to us about our dogs worsening condition. Not once did anyone return our call. We left an already paid for vacation just after two nights so we could return home and get our dog help. Unfortunately it was too late and we had to put him to sleep.

I have twice had to bring my dog in on a Sunday night when she developed an illness. I thought the place was great, albeit very expensive - I think expensive is the name of the game with emergency vets as much as doctors. The vet that took care of my dog talked to me a long time about what the problem was, the prognosis, the alternative treatments I could consider, when and whether I would need to bring her back vs care for her at home. They sent the info on my dog over to my regular vet and never tried to get me to shift to them or anything weird like that. Actually, the vet there gave me better info than the vet I saw at my usual practice ( I later saw another vet in that practice and got the info I needed so didnt switch to D-T Vet as I was considering). So, at least the emergency vet is great.

Dr. Stuart did a great job through process of elimination figuring out Hunters ailment. He was horribly sick and I thought I was going to lose my buddy, while traveling to Carson City to a gig. He spent the night at the hospital and then hydrated him and started on antibiotics for a potential bacterial infection and the next day he felt better. It has been a long battle back. I put him on limited diet foods and gave him probiotics to help his tummy heal from the antibiotic. He looks great and is playing hard again. Thank you so much for saving Hunter.

Dr. Cartwright and the staff at Donner Truckee Veterinary Hospital could not have been more kind and caring to my dog last week. We were visiting from out of town and our elderly dog took a turn for the worse from the stress of traveling. They kindly saw us the same day, provided great care, and even took the time to talk with me about some of her chronic issues despite not being her regular veterinarian. They even called to check on her the next day, amazing!

Love this vet hospital! Nedra and Molly are always amazing at the front desk!! Weve been bringing our animals here for years and years. Always great vets and always easy to get appointments. So happy they have the ER too and have had to use it! Recently our lab dog had surgery and Liz did a fantastic job rehabbing. Shes so much more comfortable know. Also our dogs come home so happy from the B&B (I think they prefer to live there vs our home!).

Boarded my dog for 3 days on a recent visit. He was well cared for. They listened when I described what he needed and even wrote notes. I was allowed to bring his comfortable dog bed. I was also able to bring him out so we could hike during the day. Dog was safe, worked great, competent and friendly staff, you could see they liked animals, and convenient location.

When our year old Lab ate the camping candles that we had just purchased and foolishly left in the front car seat, a DT Vet saw him as soon as we arrived. One shot and he vomited almost a pound of candle wax. The Vet carefully explained symptoms to watch for and the price was very reasonable. Thanks to DT Vet Hospital for being there when we needed you.

Just be advised that if you have an emergancy and its not during their normal hours they send you to Reno NV. The place is good and the vets are all quality but I had a situation after hours and I was no my own driving to Reno for more than an hour to vets I did not know and they did not know my dog.

If you are a rich white person with money and no sole, then this is a perfect place to take you 4 legged friend. If you have a dying dog and dont know what to do please dont go there. They will not help you.
