I do not normally write reviews but I feel the strong urge to write about my experience with a particular Veterinatian 8 months ago. Several friends had recommended me to Cedar Vet and I had had two previous visits with Dr. Hart that were very pleasant. 8 months ago my dog was seen by Veterinarian Nicolaas Reijne due to severe swelling inside of her mouth after waiting 5-7 days. After a visual inspection Dr. Reijne starts by pointing to her gums and tells me a biopsy needs to be done because of possible cancer growth or that her tooth is growing incorrectly and protruding her gums and that they need to scrape tissue from her mouth which means an incision. Keep in mind at this time I am growing worried because of the mention of cancer so I scheduled another appointment. The following week I go in for the x-ray and I am then told that if the x-ray shows no signs of a tooth protruding then I should move to the biopsy while she is asleep. It turns out the x-ray is negative and I agree to the biopsy which will take one week for the results. A week passes and I am informed that the biopsy is negative and I am relieved but at the same time I am I am in disbelief that the results are gingivitis. As I begin to think back to my initial visit I am replaying the sequence of diagnosis by Nicolaas Reijne and seriously begin to question his motive. I ask myself if I had allowed my friends recommendation to haze my judgment of Nicolaas Reijne. How could a seasoned Vet make such a horrible diagnosis all while my dog had to undergo a biopsy which meant cutting her inner mouth area and stitching it back up? I am disgusted with this diagnosis and recommended procedures taken. This was not cheap, the bill was around $700. For what? $700 to find out my dog has gingivitis and the swelling went down after 10 days on its own. I looked further into Nicolaas Reijne and found that he has an interest in Cedar Vet as majority owner, could that be the reason for his expensive recommendations??? Its not about the money now, I am upset that he used CANCER as possibly a mechanism to get me to agree to whatever Dr. Reijne recommended. I wonder how many other unsuspecting pet owners unknowingly have experienced similar events. I will not go back to this place because I do not support Nicolaas Reijne anymore as for Dr. Hart I have experienced honest and caring service from her. If you still decide to go dont have your pet seen by Nicolaas Reijne.

went to Cedar Vet Hosp. first time 2 days ago. my older dog, a pit bull looked to have one paw in the grave and really needed to be looked at.and here it was almost 7pm. finding a good vet can be harder than finding a regular doctor and so honestly i went to CVH because they were open till 8pm and i knew exactly where they were located. i passed by their building 1000 times! and even though it was all bad news for my dog, it was the right choice to go there. to describe the staff there i would say .. positive, sympathetic, helpful and professional. absolutely. and they looked like they WANTED to be there . mind you.. it was around 8:30 pm when i left. 2 days earlier i had spent most all day vet shopping . i called several and went to 5 vets in my area and talked to staff (not incl. CVH). Except for one, i wouldnt use any of the others. .. positive ? no way . is there a good time to have your car break down?..... or your family pet to get really sick? so, what matters? hours - theyre open till 8 and shorter hrs on sat. Staff - they gotta have it together on all levels, or Im not a client. Cost - charges were reasonable and here is where they excelled. because surgery was an option for my dog, i was faced with multiple decisions regarding her treatment and care that had to be decided then and there. and each layer of treatment carrying a different cost. not a comfortable position - at all. and reality is - cost matters. i dont have pet ins. or alot of money. and i sure dont need to be made the bad guy cause i cant afford the surgery. so without asking, they provided options. typed out and costs for ea. one and did it quickly, and with no overtones. thank you CVH. I took my dog home that nite, but due to the tumor inside her, Ill have to put her down within the next few days to avoid her of any suffering. so yes, going back to Cedar vet. hosp. where i hope theyll be as positive and helpful as my 1st visit.

I have always taken my pets to Cedar Veterinary Hospital for a variety of reasons. Once, when my German Shepherd had a huge tick near his tail I was in a mixed state of disgust and disbelief. How could I have not seen this tick before? It was probably the size of a grape; swollen and throbbing. Disgusting. I threw Sadie in the car and we drove on over to Cedar because let’s be honest, I have no idea what to do about bugs and insects – especially ones that are sucking blood out of my beloved dog. When we got there we were seen right away and the gal at the front desk was very sweet about it. She seemed to understand where I was coming from and didn’t judge me at all about how a tick got on my dog. They took Sadie in the back room and only about 10 minutes later they reappeared. Sadie was fine, of course, but I had a ton of questions about Lyme disease, prevention, and how to remove them in the future. They gave me some good advice and even some preventative measures I could take around my house to be sure this wouldn’t happen again. I paid them a very affordable price and Sadie and I were on our way. All in all, it was a very quick, affordable, and informative trip. I’ve never received anything less than that from the docs at Cedar.

I brought my Ragdoll cat to her regular check up here, one of the nice things here was that the first check up is free when you are a new customer. My kitty turned out to be rather healthy except for her dental health. She was diagnosed with Stomatitis, which is a very severe condition in cats. The only thing that could be done was dental surgery, cleaning and a few extractions. Although the estimate was pretty pricey, I schedule it for that friday. They extracted 7 teeth out, she was very groggy after her surgery which is expected but recovered pretty nicely. I took her in to her follow up today which was entirely free of cost and everything looked really good. Sutures look clean and gums looked pink and there was no swelling at all. Cedar vet did a great job with my Bella. The vet took the time to call me back and answer all the questions I had regarding the surgery before I even scheduled it. They also called the next day of the surgery to check up on my kitty. They were really nice and caring so I give them 5 stars because although, yes the location is a little bit creepy, their service is top notch! This will be Bellas regular Vet from now on. Thank you guys!
