If you care about your pets, Id recommend NOT taking them here. Dr. Adams (senior) appears to only care about getting as much out of you wallet as he can, not about the well being of your pet. Our cat suddenly became sick and we took her in. We were told that she was dehydrated and they wanted to keep her overnight to give her an i.v. and to observe her. That night turned into three, and every day we were told that she wasnt getting better, but if she stayed a little longer shed recover. On the fourth day they let us know she was about to die and we should come in. She was gone before we could even make it to the office. We were completely strung along so they could keep charging us for keeping our cat, while if the vet had been more honest with us we would have taken our cat home and let her pass in a more comfortable environment (or put her to sleep sooner so she wouldnt have to suffer). Unfortunately, we gave this vet the benefit of the doubt about our cat that passed in their care and took our other cat there when it had what appeared to be a simple UTI. After two weeks of antibiotics we were told to come in for a follow-up checkup, which became a chance to charge us for another set of tests (the cat appeared fine at this point). The vets office was unresponsive to our calls for the test results, and when they finally talked to us about it we were treated to a simple "looks better, keep giving antibiotics, bye" as the vet rushed off. Another week passed and our cat began to act ill again, albeit in a different way. Took him back to be looked at and were told they have no idea what is wrong, get x-rays and bloodwork done for another $300 to find out. When we asked the vet for more information as to what "could" be wrong, he basically shrugged and said if he knew he wouldnt recommend tests. We discussed that we cant afford this, and the vet pretty much just walked away; no discussion of why it was a good idea, no discussion of payment plans or possible price reductions. This was typical of the vets demeanor every time we saw him, little to no discussion of why they needed to do what they were recommending, or what could be wrong with the pet. As we left we were told we owed another $100 for the visit (where the vet spent 3 minutes with the cat and told us nothing) and the 2nd urine test (which we lead to believe was covered under the cost of the first urine test). This was the final straw for us and have started going to a different vet.

Please do NOT take your animals here! I worked as a vet tech for Dr. Adams and his son, Jon, for a very short period. During this time I experienced Dr. Adams yelling at and disrespecting his employees. Every employee is afraid of Dr. Mike and they daily walk on glass. He highly discourages his employees from taking required state mandated breaks and lunches. His son, Jon, hit several cats in the face instead of using proper restraining techniques and then when I told him to stop Jon said, " This is what my dad did to me when I was young." Both doctors laughed when I put on state required x-ray protection(apron and gloves, they said it takes too much time and time is money) and they do not have a state required x-ray log book. They do not use state mandated sterile covers for the thermometer(cost too much money). Before the anesthesia takes effect these doctors are shoving the breathing tube down the pets throats. When I informed them that these pets are not yet under they yell stating , "Time is money!" Ladies please do NOT be deceived by Dr. Mike Adams and his false charm! This Dr. and his son should be shut down and arrested for their illegal and unethical practices. They are MONSTERS! I have already reported them to the state board and the Better Business Bureau. You should always ask if you can come back to be with your pet for any procedure, including surgery. If the Dr. or staff states this is not allowed you need to take your pet elsewhere as this IS allowed Please Do Not come here because of his great prices.. You are putting your loved pets in the hands of evil men. Now you know why this practice(if you call it that) has such a high employee turnover. Oh, and laa1230 stop responding to the negative, yet true reviews. We all know this is Jon Adams, son of Dr. Mike Adams.

I cant say enough about all the Dr.s and staff at Imperial Animal Clinic!! I have been going there for 24yrs. My first rescue dog, Jessie, was 1 1/2 when I got him and started taking him to see Dr.Mike. Through the 16yrs I had him, I couldnt ask for a more caring, compassionate Doctor. Jessie had health issues as he got older. "Doc"always was there, yes, even in the middle of the night!! When it was "time" to let go---Doc was as caring as can be. I took my next rescue, "Ms Kinsey", immediately to Doc for her welcome home check-up. At that time Doc said she was closer to 7 or 8yrs old, not the 5 or 6yrs I was told. Doc kept her healthy the best anybody could. As she aged and also started having major health issues, Doc was always there, caring. As time got closer, I asked him how long. He said I would know. The "last night" was on a Sunday. I stayed up all night with her. The next morning when I brought her in for her last trip, Doc asked why I didnt call him. I told him I just wanted one last night before letting her go. We let her go out of her suffering then. I, because of Doc and his staff, was blessed to have her seven years. Now, having married a "cat" man, Doc and staff have been taking care of "Koko" for the last 6 1/2 yrs. She recently turned 17, and although age is creeping up, we know she is in the BEST of hands and care with all the caring Dr.s and staff at Imperial Animal clinic.

dr mike adam handled his practice alone until recently. he is so good and trusted. his practice must be huge! i love that he will do emergency calls; he was so kind to us: our beloved molly was so ill, there was nothing we could do for her, except help her enjoy her last few days at home. but at the last ,we were so worried about her, we called dr adam, who met us at the clinic on a saturday night. she died on the drive there. he showed such kindness to her and to us. we have taken all our dogs to him. Liberty had a bad eye problem, and dr adam knew what to do, so there was a happy ending to that story. he is attentive to cedrics arthritis pain. i cant imagine how much pain and sorrow he must be faced with in his practice from pet owners. he has brought in 2 other vets, one of them is his son and the other is a woman, who i think will be able to help us with our latest adoption, a traumatized dog who is afraid of people, especially men. one review listed here was so negative i had to write this. i am sorry the person had 2 bad experiences there, her story made me cry. no vet is perfect but i have taken my pets to quite a few and dont feel as comfortable with anyone else.
