I have always preferred Memorial hospital vs. Centura system. After this extended stay due to server kidney infection and a long bout of sepsis (Ecoli) I wouldnt send my worst enemy to Memorial North Hospital. - The hospitalist Dr. Sloan is very condesending. Does not review your chart before coming in and will order double testing until you The patient has to tell him there was a test ran last week. He prescribes drugs that have been taken off the market in other countries that are considered hazardous, yet the FDA in the US will still carry it and it has a high Cancer rate (4.9%) and he think its ok to prescribe to a patient. - The RN staff is not consistent. You have RNs that are very friendly who are on top of their game, then you have the ones who are there working, who have been in the field for 25+ yrs who are collecting a pay check and treat you that way. They dont want to be there, they cant tell you why you are getting a new medication and best of all, if you ask them a question about the medication they get rude/annoyed with you and then turn the tables on you and tell you youre a rude patient. - The CNA - probably the only real staff that actually made you feel like you were an important person. There were a few who didnt like their job and made the 12 hr shift with them unbareable, but overall most of them (especially Liz and Loni) made your day and made you feel like you werent a burden if you called for a cup of ice/water or just to open the shade. - The housekeeping staff - well they always had a smile on their face and were so friendly. Maybe they should teach some of those burnt out RNs how to be friendly towards a patient. - Then the hospital being short staffed. Funny thing how the staff (all forms) will tell you that they were from Central and that North doesnt have enough staffing so they have to come up here to work. And then they will tell you how they prefer Central over North due to the consistency. - We cant forget PPE normal sanitary precautions. I completed a journal after my 4th day in of a 2 week stay. Amazing how over 60% of the day shift did not put gloves on when they entered my room, didnt wash their hands nor did they use the sanitizer. And to think this is how MRSA, VRE and contagious diseases like EBOLI spread. Thank god I am not in Dallas or I might have it as a patient. I can stay most of the night shift would always put gloves on and wash. Think about it, a CNA goes from room to room taking vitals, putting that pulse oximeter on every patients finger, hooks those hoses up to every patients BP cuff and puts that thermometer in every ear and if they dont wash their hands!! The germs just spread, whether is MRSA, VRE, RSV or any other air born or droplet disease you spread these to every patient. I will never go this facility again, not even for a simple ER visit, Dr. ordered test or recommended Memorial health system. I once regarded this system as the best care facility in the County, now consider it the worse and being a patient I worried whether I would be released due to the possible contamination from other patients.

Broke my finger so badly that my nail had partially come off my finger; one nurse and the doctor were phenomenal! The nurse I got on 08/16 around midnight was absolutely amazing; she explained things to me and was extremely gentle when I told her that I was terrified of needles. The doctor worked extremely well with me and had the best manners I have ever seen. I love that he seemed very relaxed, which in turn made me feel relaxed. I wish I could remember his name! Its too bad that one of the techs (Jennifer) and the X-Ray specialist (whose name escapes me) were not. I tried explaining to them that my finger nail was falling off but they insisted on banging my finger down on the table (at which point I yelled) for the X-Ray. Jennifer (a nurse) was sent to clean my finger and she was about to remove the blood under my nail (when the doctor clearly said to leave it because it was protecting my nail bed). SHE PRACTICALLY RIPPED MY FINGER OFF (and then proceeded to act extremely mad when I wouldnt let her touch it). I had also tried calling the next day to see if they could tell me which hand specialist they referred me to; I was put on hold and then transferred repeatedly to voicemail. Thank goodness my husband remembered the address of the hand doctor, so we were able to find him that one. I suppose this was partially my part, I shouldnt have let that paperwork out of sight; but, still, accidents happen and they dont seem to be really open to help when one forgets a detail and needs to call for information. On previous occasion, I had a been a social smoker (recently having quit) and this hospital put "smoking disorder" on my paperwork when I never mentioned smoking and they never spoke to me about it. You would think that they would discuss added diagnosis with me to help me, rather than just making me feel bad for being a smoker. I no longer smoke, but I felt a bit insulted that I was given that diagnosis without being spoken to about it. Overall, this is probably the best hospital in the area, I have always been seen quick; however, during my visits, I have always felt like the nurses and technicians dont have as good of "bedside manners" as other nurses and technicians. They can be rude and insensitive; Im hoping this email will reach someone in charge who can can help weed out those nurses/technicians/doctors who obviously do not like they job. It seems that they are there to make money, to the work, and not always keep the patients mental, physical, and emotional state in mind.

Should be zero stars! Seen yesterday by the emergency room staff for severe pain in my left knee, with swelling and unable to bend the knee. Waited approximately one hour for a prescribed X-ray (had not seen a doctor yet). Waited approximately another hour before finally seeing a DO who advised me the Dr would see me after the X-ray report was complete. The Dr ( Shawn A. Koury) examined my knee and proceeded to tell me that it would be best to get an MRI to truly determine the issue. I then asked for a script to get an MRI and he then told me he wouldnt advise giving me that script because Medicare might not pay for it and I would be liable for the cost! He said he would write a script for pain, which he did, 10 tablets of Percocet. Now, I wonder why this state has such a opioid addiction problem. Dont prescribe something that gets to the reason/root of the problem, just mask it with an opioid! In addition, the discharge personnel gave me reading material concerning knee pain, titled WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW, and at the very bottom of the page it states, and I quote, " RETURN TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM if: - Your pain is worse, even after treatment. - You cannot bend or straighten your leg completely. - The swelling around your knee does not go down even with treatment. - Your knee is painful and hot to the touch. " DO YOU PEOPLE IN THE EMERGENCY ROOM, 1. LISTEN TO YOUR PATIENT AND 2.READ THE MATERIAL YOU PUBLISH AND DISTRIBUTE ????????? Those complaints above are the exact issues I described to you and your staff when I came in and now you recommend I return????????? I MAY BE SLOW AND NOT A DOCTOR BUT, I AM NOT STUPID. ZERO STARS
