The only reason I am giving this review a star is because I have to be able to write this post ~ Back in late fall, our daughter was admitted to Clear View Behavioral Health facility in Johnstown, CO. While she was an impatient at this facility, there were many occasions that no contact or communication was made between the professionals or staff with us as her parents and guardians. On the second day of her residency at Clear View, she was told by staff members that there could be no call, outbound or inbound, or visit from her sister. Come to find out after talking to a supervisor, she informed me that my daughter is able to have inbound calls from us, her parents and her sister. Also, with a 24 hour notice, and IF staff is available, a supervised visitation could be arranged. Per Clear View’s guidelines, parents or/and grandparents could visit a patient at designated times, which is completely reasonable, however, the lack of caution and supervision on these visitations were alarming. The visitors would put their personal belongings into a locker and all visitors (and many times there were as many as 10 - 15 adults) would follow a staff member to the gym where there was 1 (one) long table for everyone to congregate. On a few of our visits, there were numerous families trying to be private in an environment that was absolutely not conducive to do so. In addition, there was only 1 (one) staff member, NOT a supervisor of the facility chaperoning the entire gym, in fact, there was NO supervisor at all on site. No security measures were never taken, no metal detectors, we were never wanded or even asked if we had any “harmful” items on us. The absence of communication, professionalism and safety at Clear View renders no rationalization or excuse of what transpired for my daughter’s discharge. Her father and sister picked her up in the early evening where no family meeting occurred to go over a safety plan or follow up. When reviewing the discharge paperwork at a later date, the counselor had my daughter, of 12 years old, sign her own safety plan. Again, there was no further instructions or after care concern for her. The Discharge/Continuing Care Plan was never shared with her father nor was signed by him or the Physician that was overseeing her mental health concerns. In addition, the Medication Reconciliation Admission & Discharge Orders were completely incorrect and again were not signed by the Discharge Attending Physician. Tragically, less than 24 hours of my daughter’s discharge from Clear View Behavioral Health, she attempted suicide. What could have been a fatal event was caught in time by the arrival of her father coming home from work and finding her incoherent and mostly unresponsive. Through this terrifying and horrible experience which included, my daughter being intubated and air lifted from the Loveland, CO hospital to the Children’s Hospital in Denver, CO where she was placed in ICU and later placed in the Children’s Hospital Psychiatric Unit then later transferred to an impatient facility in west Denver, we have been told the actions of Clear View was not only inadequate but unethical. It is my main concern that no other parent or loved one ever has to go through this same encounter. I truly feel the neglect of information, resources or guidance from Clear View lead to unpreparedness for her transition from an impatient facility back into her home. I am in the process of pursuing this issue with outside legal. PLEASE DO NOT ADMITT ANYONE YOU KNOW OR LOVE INTO THIS FACILITY!

Below I have listed many situations I experienced at Clear View I was placed here for a failed suicide attempt after hanging myself. I was released on the 2/7/17 after just 3 days here I experienced the worst treatment imaginable. Upon entering Clear View I was first admitted 2 a drug detox unit. I explained 2 them that I have never used drugs this must be a mistake, They told me there wasn’t any space available in the acute adult unit 4 adults with depression and anxiety. They decided the drug detox unit was not properly suited 4 me & moved me, but not 2 the appropriate unit. They again claimed that there was no room for me on the fitted unit & moved me 2 the acute unit 4 adults with schizophrenia & hallucinations. On this unit the staff here deliberately provoke clients into having meltdowns. Another huge problem I had on this unit was with this male staff, we were having a group & this very young girl who would often just start crying out of nowhere started 2 cry out, but she wasnt disruptive about it when it started she would excuse herself. She was very sweet & obviously struggling with more than I could imagine. After she excused herself this Staff started making jokes about her crying out how it sounded like cackling 2 the entire group. I had then jumped in & said “It’s not appropriate nor professional 4U2 joke about any client especially in front of the group, Not to mention morally wrong.” He replied “But I think it is funny” “If u think it’s that funny why don’t u joke about it in private then because I don’t think mental illness is a joke I don’t believe anyone in this group finds it funny either” I responded. Again his response was this “I can’t joke about it when I am not here cuz it violates confidentiality I think it’s funny like cancer jokes & ur dancing” “Excuse me” I replied, “My dancing? Im in a wheelchair & no cancer isn’t a joke either I fought 4 years of my life battling that disease have lost many family members 2 it!" Thats when he really crossed the line said, “u know ur seizures… Dancing its funny.” This was the same staff member who saw me fall out of my bed have a seizure & leave me on the floor failed 2 get me help or make sure I was okay. This is when I realized that the Patient Rights Advocate was nothing but a cover up specialist using our mental illness as an excuse for such undignified treatment as if we deserve 2b treated like pigs in a slaughter house. he was not held accountable 4 his actions 2 any degree. Myself & the entire group told the group leader of the next group about it & all it was was just that us telling nobody caring. I saw enough here 2 make my stomach turn 2 mashed potatoes. I do not feel I got the help I needed I do not feel like patients R being treated fairly here. The clients don’t get anything really 2 do but roam & go nuts staff claims the higher ups took the tv remotes from them so thats why we couldnt watch tv. I said what I had 2 say 2 get out of there, told them what they wanted 2 hear. I may b depressed & have anxiety but I still don’t think I deserved 2b treated like this nor did the other patients I witnessed being treated badly. This place needs 2 have an internal investigation & b shut down.

Irresponsible, lack of accountability and dangerous policies that do not protect patients. Do not allow yourself or a loved one to enter this facility. Our family member was admitted for emotional and stress related issues. Had no prior history of substance abuse but was housed near and allowed to interact with another patient that is a heroin addict and has absconded from parole in another state. Once the two connected in the facility it was too late. The facility allowed an addict to prey on an emotionally vulnerable patient. They never should have been allowed to meet in the first place and I blame this facility for providing an environment that allowed it to happen and not keeping patients safe. As soon as they were both released, they got connected outside and now my family member is involved in some serious things that were never a problem before. The family member went in for support of emotional and stress issues and came out to a being drawn into a very dangerous and frightening life path and is now homeless. Loss of family, loss of almost everything and the path forward is very bleak. I blame this facility for not protecting patients from predators in their facilities. And yet when we tried to contact administration for answers, they do not return calls. I see that they respond to these posts with a plea to call the patient/family advocate. What good would that do? We (and others) have tried to contact someone, but get nowhere. What makes us believe anything would change if we called the advocate? To make you feel better that you have reached out after the fact? After the damage has been done? You cant appease me. You have seriously harmed our family. Is there no accountability for this type of management? They are failing their patients - our family members. In fact, they are facilitating failure. Other reviews have cited poor managment, lack of accountability and poor communication. Where does this end? How many patients have to be sacrificed before something is done? Shouldnt they be there to help rather than facilitate harm? Recommendation: run far away from this facility. If you need help, find somewhere else unless you want to end up much worse off than when you went in. One would think their mission is to help people improve their lives rather than facilitate their fall into the dark depths of a life of drugs, homelessness and who knows what else. They just dont care that their actions have caused heartbreak for more than just the patient that they were supposed to be helping. An entire extended family is now in severe distress, childrens lives have been ripped apart and elders are heartbroken. All because this facility did not protect a vulnerable patient from a predator.
