I rarely write reviews, but after my husbands horrible experience in the BHC ER a couple of months ago I need to summarize our visit. A piece I want to add is that because I was in between jobs during his visit, we had no insurance. He went to the ER for severe back pain, and during this visit he was seen by a PA. The PA did no blood work, no UA, no MRI, no CAT, no X-ray and only ordered enough pain med for him so he could walk out. I asked if he could be admitted because the pain meds werent helping and they said "we dont admit for pain." They brought a wheelchair to him and told us to call the pain management specialist tomorrow to see if he could get in to see someone. No guarantee to see the specialist and they said it would be cheaper for us to stay in a hotel (we live out of town) than be admitted, because he doesnt have insurance (a nurse told us that). It is now about 3 am, so I asked them since you wont admit him and we are basically carrying him out of here, what do we do if his back locks up again. They told us to call 911 if this happens. The next morning we did call the specialist and he was able to get in, but he couldnt move due to extreme pain. We had to call 911 and take him back to the ER and miss his appointment because the ambulance wouldnt take him anywhere but a ER. We are now back in the ER, 5 hours later, and the day nurse is shocked about what happened during the late night visit and couldnt believe they didnt run any tests and let him go when he couldnt walk on his own. 4 hours pass and we get a MRI and he receives a steroid shot for pain. Ive talked to human relations and theyve given me the run around and reassured me that we werent treated this way because at this moment we had no insurance. They did take $300 off of one of the visits, which should have completely been dismissed due to the information I provided above. I hope this doesnt happen to other families with/without insurance. I know that if we have to go to columbia in the future for an emergency, we will go to the University.

Ive been to boone several times for different things (ED, labor and delivery/post partdum and radiology dept). The ED was a joke. I went in for bleeding that wouldnt stop. They didnt do any labs to see if I had any clotting issues. Put a pressure bandage on me and said if Im still bleeding in 2 or 3 days come back... Back to what, the morgue? Radiology was very nice, slow, but I was an add on appt. the staff was friendly, professional and very helpful. The bulk of my stays at boone were in labor & delivery/ postpartum. I was there 4 days. The food was very bland and plan. 2 options, think diabetic/ cardiac diet. No customization options at all, snacks available 24/7 (if youre allowed). Nursing staff was very nice, helpful and very eager to come in and help when called for. The house doctors were nice too. They didnt hover, left me alone to enjoy my New baby. The only complaint is during my 4 day stay I never saw a lactation consultant, and I asked several times. Check out was quick and easy. I even got a cute little thank you card for delivering there.

I have to say the Boone Family Birthplace was a big disappointment for our third child. WARNING: They had the nursery closed for two of the three nights my wife was in the hospital. If you are a single mom or if you have other children and you dont have someone who can stay with you, do not use Boone. Frankly it was unsafe for my wife, who had a c section. Im a Boone baby and so is my wife, along with all three of my children. This was the first time weve had a bad experience, but it was terrible. The explanation was they have too many babies and not enough staff, which just shows the poor management. You know they are making plenty of money to bring on more nurses. Its a shame because they do have some great nurses (Angie, Courtney, and Alice were wonderful for us and the lactation consultant was amazing). They did a skin to skin birth where the baby stays with mommy from the moment of birth, which was a very cool experience for my wife. Our labor and delivery experience was great, just not post pardom.

Was going to give a 2-star but I better just give a one since your consumer services department doesnt accept complaints ..what a joke.. we were in the hospital for almost 4 days my wife delivered the 1st day... they released us just before the 4th day of being there no complications and had filled her prescriptions at 5:30 just to tell us that the pharmacy closes at 5:30.... you discharged my wife with no possible way of getting her pain meds until the next day... At your hospital.. We live a long way from your hospital... on another note how can you give postpartum directions to a mother to stay in bed and relax this and that yet you schedule several doctors appointments throughout the next three days of her giving birth with no pain meds.. Special kind of stupid.. I dont know what all the hype about having a Boone baby is this place was terrible... all they are doing is working my insurance for profit

Most of the reviews from 11 months ago are nothing but a public image company. There previous rating before they got scared of a new hospital was 2 stars. They neglect the poor, the doctors are stuck up, you wait for four hours to sit in a room for another hour, they over charge, they give you treatment you dont want, the doctors cant even stand each other as they are constantly changing, the OB was rude, a doctor called me a liar once while my face was swollen, I was refused to be treated once, I got a rectal exam when I had a fever and trouble breathing, got charged 200$ for just a brace I didnt want and made my knee worse when I had a dislocated knee (that isnt hospital fee doctor fee xray fee), and a nurse yelled at me for an hour when I called to let them know my complaints. They seem to have forgotten they are a hospital and not a casino.

My grandma just got out of this hospital after being there for a month and I would say it was the worst experience in a hospital ever. Most of the nurses were TERRIBLE. First off one told my family that my grandma just wanted to die and was depressed. She did NOT have the psychological credentials to be giving her this diagnosis. My grandma is one of the happiest ladies you will ever meet. Second we told one of the nurses she couldnt have a certain medication because she was allergic to it and two hours later the nurse gives it to her. These are just SOME of the things we are upset about. We will NEVER be going back to this hospital.

THIS WOULD BE 5 STARS HANDS DOWN, FOOD IS GOOD, STAFF IS EXCELLENT, AND PROCEDURES ARE LIKE CLOCKWORK. BUT I GOT ABSOLUTELY NO SLEEP DUE TO THE INCREDIBLY TERRIBLE BED THAT INFLATES, DEFLATES, ROLLS YOU AROUND, FOLDS YOU UP AND PUSHES YOU ALMOST ONTO THE FLOOR.... ALL ON ITS OWN. THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS APIECE AND NO PATIENT CAN SLEEP, EVERY NURSE OR ORDERLY CAN ATTEST TO THE DISCOMFORT OF PATIENTS, AND THE MANAGEMENT REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE WASTE. WONDERFUL. THANKS FOR THE GREAT PEOPLE AND FINDING MY PROBLEM, BUT I EITHER SLEEP ON THE COUCH, THE FLOOR, OR TAKE MY CHANCES AND GO HOME JUST TO BE ABLE TO SLEEP.
