I would like to share my story with the Denver community, because I feel it is important they hear this story. I recently suffered the loss of my dog Ruby of seven years due to the negligence of Michele Smith and her staff at the 29th Animal Hospital in Stapleton. My dog of 7.5 years, RUBY, died yesterday due to the negligence of the staff and vet Michele Smith at 29th Avenue Animal Hospital. You would never imagine a tragedy like taking your dog to the vet for symptoms of diarheea and vomiting and for your dog to be hit by a car and killed while she is the care of the vet. Ruby was dropped off around 8:30am on Thursday, June 17th at the 29th Ave Animal Hosptial and two hours later she was hit by a car on I-70 and killed. The kennel they put her in the back of the vet office had a broken latch, so she could get out of the door. With an IV in her arm and an Eliabethan collar on her head, she pushed the broken latch open and got out. A vet tech had propped the back door and unsupervised, Ruby got out and loose. The back door was only two feet from her kennel, which is a safety concern in and of itself. No one could catch her. Ruby made it to I-70 and got struck by a car. Yes, my dog went to the vet for a bacterial infection and got hit and killed by a car. It is important for the community of Stapleton to hear about this tragedy and ensure they know the risks and concerns with Michelle Smith and the 29th Animal Hospital. When I went to see the kennel she was after this tragedy happened, there was already another dog in the broken kennel after only a few hours from Ruby breaking loose (see attached). This bulldog was laying in some of his own blood, as his paw was bleeding from something, and he could push the door open if he wanted to. This vet office has broken kennels and the health, safety, and security of your pets are not their top priority. Michele Smith’s attitude was not as compassionate as one would have expected. Not only was my dog killed while at the vet, but I spent $642 three days earlier for tests and medicine that did not work. There was never a diagnosis for Ruby after spending $642. I would like to recommend everyone to steer clear of this vet, she is negligent, as is her staff, and she does not have the compassion and accountability to prevent this from happening again.

This place is INCREDIBLE!!!! My husband and I are first time puppy owners, so needless to say when our brand new puppy had spent an entire night throwing up we were freaking out and rushing to find a vet that was open the next morning. We called Stapleton Veterinary Hospital as soon as they opened Monday morning and although we had never been there before they were friendly, supportive, quick and responsive to get us in for an appointment only a couple of hours later. Our experience with this team is.... WOW!!!!!! Our puppy was diagnosed with Parvo, which she caught through the shelter we adopted her from. Once we received this diagnoses, unfortunately we had to transfer our girl to another hospital that was sponsored and paid for by our shelter. During this time, Stapleton did EVERYTHING they could to help make the transfer as smooth as possible and even reached out to the other animal hospital to ensure all of her results were communicated and sent over ahead of time. Our girl has since been in the hospital (still is actually) and Stapleton Veterinary Hospital went out of their way to not only call my husband and I the next day to check in, but also call the other hospital to get a full report on how our puppy is doing. As a new dog mommy, this process has been a very emotional one for me, and Amanda, Stapleton Veterinary Hospital Office manager has been nothing but supportive. I called Stapleton this morning to say thank you and to chat about our little girl, and although our puppy isnt currently there...Amanda spent over 15 minutes on the phone with me explaining our puppys results, diagnoses, information on the disease, and recovery. Stapleton Veterinary service is beyond what I could have hoped for. My husband and I are so grateful that Stapleton Vet was there for us in our familys time of need. They are incredible...and weve officially found our new vet! While we dont wish our pup to get sick ever again, we cant wait to be back for her next round of shots and physical to see these amazing people who have made this less than stellar experience so great! Thank you Stapleton Veterinary Hospital!!!! We are so happy we found you and your team!!!

We have been going to see Dr. Smith at the 29th Avenue Animal Hospital for the past 4 years and only have a 2 ½ year old dog, Duke. Even before we even got Duke as a puppy, we would go to her for advice on what type of dog would be best for us as a family and that shows me, she not only cares for Duke, but our whole family. Also, she encouraged us to train Duke well so that he would listen to me as well as my children so that he would obey, not jump and especially not run away when being called for. Her office has always been wonderful and has been able to get Duke in and out ASAP. Even when he ate something that got stuck in his intestines and he needed to spend the whole day at the office getting an IV, the office encouraged me to come and see him as much as I wanted. She kept me well informed on what was going on while Duke was in her care and also checked up on him after he came home later that day. Dr. Smith not only performs routine tests and is able to see our dog as soon as possible if something were to occur and the whole office does it with such care and love. After every check-up, the office will call to make sure that Duke is doing well and genuinely cares if he is. I love Duke so very much and wouldn’t imagine not taking him anywhere besides Dr. Michele Smith’s office at 29th Avenue Animal Hospital for his check-ups and any other medical needs. Also, I would recommend anyone and everyone else to go check her out!

I loved my experience at Stapleton Veterinary Hospital. They were able to get me in for a same day appointment. Their staff was extremely friendly and professional. The online forms were easy to fill out and helped make my check in very easy. They have a separate "feline" waiting area to help keep your cat calm while waiting. They didnt quite have a room ready but Kevin, the tech, came out and started chatting with me about Zuris history and then was ready for me in the room and had already talked to the doctor when they were ready to bring her back. Dr. Reiter was extremely professional, friendly and courteous. She answered all my questions about being a new kitten owner and was very patient. All the staff, including the front desk clearly loved animals and treated my new furry friend like family.
