We have heard really great reviews about this place. However, I have truly never been disgusted by a place in my entire life. To start things off. My brother and sister in law are out of the state. They have a cat and he gets contionous blockages in his bladder. My brother called around and then asked my mother and I to take their cat there to be put down because they didnt want him to suffer. So we agreed. When we got there we were shown to a large room in the back. On the phone, my brother was told that they would put him down and that it would cost $85. When the vet tech came in she showed us a paper that showed an amount way larger than just $85 . We were told that we HAD to have our cat checked out before they decide to put him down, which cost more money. So we agreed. Okay thats fine. So they took him out. After a couple of minutes the Vet, I dont remember her last name but her first name was Joy, came in the room. Explained to us that Pooh had a bladder blockage and that it could be treated. Her body language was already negative. We explained to her that my brother and sister in law did not have the kind of money to treat him. That they wanted him put down because he is miserable. They were rude this whole time and treating us like we were just animal killers. Then the blonde vet tech came in and suggested that my sister in law gave up the cat to the vet. We told them no. So the blonde vet tech said.... " so youd rather uthanize an animal instead of helping them?" My mind was blown at how unprofessional that was. We were already upset. So i yelled at her. I was in tears because they were making us feel so horrible. The vet said she did not feel right putting the cat to sleep , so they gave the cat back to us , and asked us to use the side door to our car. So, we had to take him home. This morning the hospital called my brother and sister in law twice harassing them , saying they needed to give up the cat. Unfournately the cat passed on his own last night. He suffered because they refused to put him down. I will never recommend anyone to this place. Im so disgusted by all of the events.

I would like to take the time to tell my story, these people are so compassionate and really care about their customers. I should say family, not customers, because that is how they treat them. I lost my sweet beagle puppy in an accident, I was holding her in the car but she jumped out of the window. My friend and I rushed her to West Ridge, but she died in my arms on the way there. We brought her in and the doctors came and got her so fast it was amazing, and they tried their best for 15 minutes to save her, but it was too late and she was hurt too bad. I paid the medical expenses, which happened to be all I had left, being time to pay rent and such, and they said we could get Pennys ashes in a few days. My friend set up a fundraiser for me on facebook to raise the money so I could get Pennys ashes back quickly. A girl who happened to be employed there was commenting insensitive things on the post, like how it could have been so easily prevented, dont roll the window down if you arent going to care for your dog.. And it really crushed me. My friend called West Ridge and informed them of what she was saying. They terminated her immediately and called me with condolences and many apologies. Dr. Rebecca Hubert called me personally and told me she was so heartbroken for me. She said they terminated the employee because they do not want their business to be represented as insensitive, they grieve when we grieve, and that my loss was a terrible accident and I should not feel like I was to blame. When I went to get Pennys ashes that day, Dr. Colin and Dr. Rebecca had hand written me a letter wishing me peace and healing, and reimbursed me for the medical bills and gave me Pennys ashes free of charge. It was such a heartwarming experience, and it made the grief I was feeling much less of a burden during the tragedy of losing a fur baby. I cannot thank them enough. They are such great people.

The office is clean and well kept. They do schedule your pets fairly quickly from the time you contact them with a request for an appointment. However, once you are in the front doors, the wait to see a vet can be quite lengthy. My personal opinion, but I didnt feel any personal touches with my pets, it seemed that you hardly ever got the same doctor, but I know several vet offices that work this way, so as I said, completely personal preference. I always felt like I was in a high pressure sales situation. Id go in for something and they were always pushing other services. I dont feel that they fully discussed illnesses and issues or options for treatments. There were times that I felt there was just a treatment estimate put in front of me and I was pressured to go through with it or I was a bad pet owner. For complete transparency purposes, my pets no longer go to this vet. I had been unhappy for quite some time, due to the things I have already discussed, but the final straw was when I was offered a treatment plan for $1400, and got the same treatment elsewhere for less than $500. I want to provide an honest review, some of this is very much personal preference, and I have to point out that we were never treated badly. I am sharing my experience so hopefully this review is a balance between the people that love or hate the place, not everyone will mind the things that bothered me and they might be very happy here.

The past two times I was there I was very disappointed. My family and I have been coming to West Ridge long before they even moved to the location off 20th and its sad that theyre not the same anymore. The staff can be very rude up front and this last visit, the Vet tech (Kim) that took my dog and I back was so rude. She would speak over me and wouldnt listen to what I would try to tell her. When I would ask her about pricing she wouldnt explain things clearly, and she had a very fake demeanor towards me. She would ask me a question and then keep talking, leaving no room for me to answer. The doctor that came in was the same way in regards to NOT LISTENING. They need to understand that as a pet owner we know our animals more than they do. The doctor would just assume things and even went as far as to tell me my dog isnt social, when my dog wouldnt allow the Doctor to touch her-ironic that my dog has never acted that way towards anyone else. The way my dog was fearful of letting the doctor even come near her was WRONG, she was literally skiddish when she was even remotely close to the Doctor. Ive noticed that the Doctors tend to feel the need to not actually listen because they presumably already know everything. Its sad that I feel the need to leave and take our business elsewhere due to the fact of how uppity and rude the staff has become. Our loyality has always been with West Ridge and we can no longer say that.
