I had an emergency with my Kitty. Worst time in my life,,, May 3rd at 2:30 am... Have not gone one day since with out the severe pain in my heart and the visual of how they brought him out to me.. With no warning on what the sedative did to him and how his condition drastically changed from when I got him to the facility!! (I was away from him for at least 2 1/2 hours // which I never got a real sound explanation of why the time and my Vet at "Just Cats" could not understand that time frame either ) Especially, when I also made it clear to the doctor I wanted my cat alert instead I got the extreme opposite. (since I did not know when I rushed him there it would be the end) That visual has not left my head :( I never ever had such trauma (there are so many specific details that are too much to put on here but I did send them a prior letter (Cornell) and have all the info. / details at his other Vet "Just Cats" in Stamford which has everything in his file. This was my final thoughts that I sent to the Vet Facility...... (Cornell) I really Hope No One else Rushes their pet to CUVS in hopes of everything being ok and then kept away from their Pet for over 2 1/2 hours (when it is an extremely critical situation) Then on top of being separated from their pet for so long that their physical condition turns so horrible/worse partly because of the fact the pet is not with their owner (so definitely adds to the stress which will also effect them physically), that goes without question in this case since Ricky would never let anyone hold him BUT me. And then to have your pet brought out in such a traumatic/horrifying state with no warning at all. This all occurs when you feel that you are doing the right thing by rushing your pet into his cat carrier in the middle of the night to an emergency facility not thinking at that moment that this is it. (meaning the end of his life) AND then what happened in that period of time that was so critical. I am sure it could have been handled in under the 2 hours from when the decision was made and his physical state would have been less traumatic. AGAIN I PRAY this NEVER HAPPENS TO ANYONE ELSE. I will never fully recover from what was done. (ADDED on August 3rd 2013) STILL suffering everyday with the trauma of how they brought him out to me.. and it is exactly 1 year and 3 months after this ER doctor did not realize how the sedative was going to effect him WHEN he was NOT supposed to have one to begin with !! and like I stated just to insert an IV to KILL HIM HE TORTURED MY RICKY/ I found out later as my cat was fighting & struggling to breath while he was DOING THIS TO HIM!!! THE LAST HOURS OF HIS LIFE TO BE SO HORRIBLE IN FEAR and rapidly deteriorated as he was struggling //THE WORST THING I Did was bring him there AND see that horrible way they finally brought him out to me BASICALLY DEAD KEEPING HIM AWAY FROM ME SO LONG !!!! THIS PAIN IS STILL SO RAW<<< I NEVER WISH THIS ON ANYONE// MY HEALTH has dramatically taken a turn for the worse & this place had the nerve months later to be asking for a Financial donation from me!!! On top I paid them for this which is the least of it!!! I thought it was going to be a sympathy but then asking for more money,, SO SICK!!!

Outrageous and unprofessional attitude to the patients and their owners. Take your pet to any other emergency hospital and dont be tempted by this great universitys prestigious name. In addition to the stress of the entire visit, two days later our primary caregiver was STILL not given any access to our dogs files from the emergency visit. The entire experience was horrible. Our dog, an 11 year old golden retriever, suffered a muscle sprain from falling down the stairs. She was in severe pain, could not walk properly, or lift herself up. We checked in to the emergency room at 9:30 PM and after a short examination by a nurse, we were told to wait for two other emergencies to be taken care of. Two hours later, when both of the other patients were stabilized and their owners had left, leaving us the only visitors in the waiting room, we were told that the doctor would see us momentarily. A little while later, still no doctor in sight, the receptionist went to remind the doctor of our presence. Finally, the doctor, Lisa Carter, appeared and, while examining our dog, once again mentioned that they had much more important cases that night. At the end of the examination and x-ray, Dr. Carter, told us they would need to run some blood tests to prescribe the proper painkillers. At midnight, the receptionists, the only really nice and helpful people in the facility, went home. An hour later, around 1 AM, both us and the dog completely exhausted, had to CALL the emergency number in order to remind them that we were still there. At this point our dog had been in pain for about 5 hours. One of the 3 nurses who were on call came out saying that our blood tests had been finished long ago (and everything was normal) but they were too busy to give us our prescription. I will remind you that we had been the only ones in the waiting room since the departure of the other two owners, whos pets, we were told, were doing well. Finally, another nurse came out and gave us the prescription. Was it really necessary to keep us waiting for so long in order to give our dog prescribed painkillers and our $630 bill, a task that requires no more than 5 minutes? If they did not have time to take care of our dog, they could have simply told us that to begin with and sent us to a different animal hospital nearby (of which there are many in the area). Before we left, we specifically asked that our retrievers files be sent to her primary caregiver ASAP, and they told us that they would be sent in the next few hours to her vet as well as to our email. Now, two days later, our primary caregiver was told that there is no record of the x-rays or the blood test. To summarize, while our dogs injury was not life-threatening, it is scary to think that if another patient arrived in critical condition, they would have been unable to take care of it because the help was not available and they were too busy.

The negative reviews were actually shocking to me. Perhaps they heard you!!! We were impressed with their friendliness and personable approach as soon as we walked in the front door. The front desk ladies were very compassionate, warm and patient. We were there around 8:30 pm because our cat had ingested a brand new and sealed box of praline chocolates earlier during the day and had to be watched for any possible seizures overnight per our vets suggestion at Just Cats. We were greeted warmly with a smile. The interior was state of the art like a nice hospitals lobby. It was clean and bright inside. Anyone would need to be buzzed in after sometime in the early evening. Its almost like a fortress though welcoming. When the vet came to discuss our kittys situation with us, he immediately mentioned something we had not heard from our regular vet. He shared with us after visually examining our kitty that she would need to get her thyroid checked because of reasons a, b, and c. I was a little surprised by his comments. Then, I provided more of my observations, which made him even more certain that my kitty had hyperthyroidism. That really explained why our kitty acted so neurotic, hyperactive, vocal and always starving no matter how much food she was given and why she would eat a whole box of chocolates! I also noticed a substantially different depth of knowledge that Dr. Zach Marteney had. Hes the best vet Ive ever met so far. He just knew so much! Before we left, we requested some time with her. Another nurse came in holding her wrapped in a towel. She was clearly a cat lover. She was so sweet, patient and warm. It made us feel so much better leaving her there. We also came home with a manila folder with all the paper work neatly organized in it. When we were handed the folder, the front desk lady went over everything very patiently and nicely. We did pay for what we got, a twice as expensive bill with a first-class service. We were blown away by how well this place was run!!
