Dr. Likier was very rude and dismissive. I explained my symptoms to Dr. Likier and he seemed to disregard them because I was reading them off my phone, as if I was reading from a WebMD list or something. This was not the case, I typed my symptoms in my phone because sometimes I forget to mention them all particularly when speaking to doctors and I wanted to make sure whatever suggestion he gave addressed them all. I then asked for a colonoscopy, he told me that he wouldnt do something that would "harm me" and that we should try something "that hasnt been done before" (Ive had many procedures and tests done already not including a colonoscopy) but when asked he failed to explain how this routine procedure would cause harm and had no answer when I told him that this would indeed be something that hadnt been done before. He then brought me to another room and suggested Citrucel, I explained how a lack of fiber couldnt possibly explain the myriad symptoms I had just detailed to him and said that I found this suggestion "insulting" given what I had just told him, he then cut me off, told me to "stop yelling" and left the room, leaving me by myself. I was not yelling and my tone of voice had not changed since entering the room, it was the word "insulting" that triggered this reaction from him, not the tone of my voice, if anything I sounded very monotone. I believe "stop yelling" actually meant "stop questioning me Im the doctor", well I have spent years going along with doctors suggestions to no effect so it was very important to me that my concerns were addressed before wasting more of my time and money so yes I was skeptical. He came back a minute later as I was putting on my jacket to leave and said something along the lines of him being willing to continue working with me if I would "calm down and stop yelling" (again I had not been yelling, this was a complete lie). I then asked what the next steps would be if I took his suggestion of Citrucel and it didnt work, he cut me off again, told me to stop yelling again, and left his office again. This was clearly not going anywhere so I then left. He also told me that didnt have Crohns disease (my suggestion) for the following reasons: I hadnt lost weight: See the research study: Mechanisms of decreased food intake during weight loss in adult Crohns disease patients without obvious malabsorption. According to the above study above weight loss from Crohns results from aversion to food and loss of appetite, not an inability to gain weight. I wasnt currently experiencing diarrhea: See the "Crohns" section of the website of The Centre for Digestive Diseases, a hospital in Australia. According to the information provided by that hospital diarrhea is not a requisite symptom. Crohns symptom severity is not affected by what the patient eats: See the research study: "Food intolerance and Crohns disease". According to the above study while Crohns is not caused by food insensitivity certain foods aggravate symptoms in many patients. All of these sites (no links provided as Google Reviews does not allow them) list sources or come directly from a hospital or research study. I would have loved to know what Dr. Likier thought of the above information but I guess I never will as he chose to walk out on my appt. instead of even attempting to address my concerns. ------- Im not saying that my self diagnosis is definitely correct or complaining that Dr. Likier refused to order the procedure I asked for, that is not the reason for this review score. The reason for this review score is that Dr. Likier was A) completely dismissive of my symptoms as in his suggestion didnt take them into account and when asked how his suggestion addressed my symptoms he became defensive and still did not answer and B) very rude, walked out on me in the middle of the appt. and lied about me yelling as an excuse for him behaving rudely. I cant help but wonder if he would have been as comfortable treating a patient he is getting paid to see in such a way had I been older or white.

Dr Likier should find another line of work. I have GI issues and my PCP sent me to Dr. Likier for them and an overdue colonoscopy. I vomited up the prep solution and called Dr. Likier. His response was "I cant lose an hour" and he gave me instructions on what to get at the pharmacy. Because of other health issues, I cant drive. He said "I cant have my schedule disrupted" and told me to walk. I have trouble walking normally and just drank and vomited the nasty colonoscopy prep solution and was curled up in a ball of gastric distress. There was not a hint of concern for the patient, the underlying GI issues that might have caused me to puke up the stuff . The only thing he cared about was his schedule. Well, if youre a gastroenerologist and your patients gastrointestinal issues disrupt your schedule, maybe you should find something else to do for a living.

Dr. Likier, is an excellent gastro doctor. Dont go by the negative comments. I was referred to Dr. Likier by my PCP for gi issues. I was able to get an appt immediately. The office is warm and inviting. The doctors wife was working the front desk and was very professional and friendly. The wait to be seen wasnt long maybe 15 mins. Once in the back Dr. Likier went over my medical history with me and then examined me. He was courteous, very professional, and had a great bed side manner. Much needed qualities in the medical field. I ended up having a procedure done by Dr. Likier a few wks later and all went well. I have actually referred a few of my patients to him as well☺. Naomi E.

I have known Dr. Likier for over 15 years and have found him to be a concerned and careful caregiver. He has explained thoroughly any medications he has prescribed, as well as procedures, fielded my questions, and offered helpful suggestions. I have had two colonoscopies with this gentleman, and appreciate that he uses tried and true anesthesia, which he administers and supervises himself. Other practitioners may refer anesthesia to another service, which might cost as much as $3000 more, not often covered by insurance. He is cautious and his safety statistics are noteworthy for not risking his patients well-being in an effort to save time.

I have known Dr. Likier for over fifteen years and find him to be the most compassionate and caring physicians I have ever met. He shows genuine concerns for the welfare of his patients and provides the time you need for any questions you may have. He really knows his patients and has a great bedside manner which is rare these days. I have referred him to family and friends.
