Today was our FIRST AND LAST visit. A woman with no parenting skills or control allowed her child to run wild in the waiting room. After failed attempts to smack my puppy in the face, she ran up and KICKED my puppy in the stomach lifting him off the ground and sent him flying. This is what sociopaths do as children; serial killer in the making. Because the hospital will keep patients like this, they have lost my two dogs. Poorly handled, never have I ever had this happen. This hospital is not responsible for the behavior of animals or children that act like animals in their waiting room. They also provided my wifes personal information to that owner who then called me, cursed at me and hung up on me. I can see why the child is like an out-of-control animal because "it" is being raised by bottom-feeding, low-life animals! The hospital was more concerned with protecting their privacy when I wanted to press charges but had no qualms about giving my wifes name to them AFTER SPECIFICALLY SAYING NOT TO AND TO GIVE MY PHONE NUMBER IF THEY WANTED TO APOLOGIZE, NOT FOR THE HUSBAND TO CALL UP CURSE AT ME?...then hang up on me. These "parents" should not reproduce and are a drain on civilized society. I expected the hospital to take this seriously but they will continue to provide services for them. So, do the math, they lost TWO patients (both of my pugs were patients there) for one obese, inbred absentee parent that shouldve had her kid on a leash too! Beware, not all "animals" are on a leash at this hospital.

Convenient hours but the experience felt like a car salesperson trying to upsell you to a "premium package". I brought in my dog for a scratch/bite on his paw, agreed to a $400 bill to include a total checkup, and ended up stuck with a bill of over $630 that included "additional fees". I tried to reason with the front office but they explained the fees are not included in the package. They also made an appointment for a dental cleaning despite knowing my dog has a heart murmur and it was not recommended by a prior vet due to anesthesia risk. I ended up cancelling that appointment and googling for another vet here in Dover and went with the only one rated 5 stars...went there and they did a thorough exam in front of me and told me that even if he didnt have the heart murmur they would not recommend a dental cleaning at this time because he had mostly stains, not tartar, and it was not necessary. Paid $40 only and I could tell they really care about the animals by they way they treated my dog. Glad I searched for a 2nd opinion.

My experience began 35 yrs ago, with Dover Animal Hospital, Now VCA Dover Animal Hospital. Dr Brown took care of my cat, Sammy and my Peke a Poo, Buttons. When I got my new pups, I did not have to worry about where I would take them. Even though all the visits were not always happy outcomes, Dr.Brown and the staff were always very caring. My more recent experiences with the Drs and the staff is not any different than 35 years ago. All very nice and so gentle with my dogs, Sushi & Pebbles. I am advised of all shots that are needed and informed of anything else that may have to be done. I also have my dogs groomed here, and am very satisfied with the grooming. I would not hesitate to recommend new pet owners to go to VCA Dover Animal Hospital.

I brought my hedgehog in to get checked because I thought it might have mites. I made an appointment, had to take an hour off of work because the receptionist on the phone said the doctor who takes exotics only comes in the morning. So I come in and the doctor, Doctor Brown, comes in and says I dont know who you talked to on the phone, but I dont do hedgehogs. You have to go to Wilmington to get your pet looked at. You waisted your time coming here. Even though on the website it says they take exotics and they have looked at my hedgehog before. Doctor Brown was rude and not understanding to the fact that Im worried about my pet. Im not happy and wont be bringing my pet back to them again.

VCA animal hospital is amazing because of the way they care for my pets I have three dogs and 2 cats not to mention three turtles. I find the staff very pleasant to deal with I really like the vets they are so kind to my pets they take there time and answer questions also they provide outstanding services with TLC even when I bring my female cat in and she is not a fan of going To the doctors they are a 5 Star animal hospital and so are the staff and the vets thank you Theresa

Did not feel confident in the Vet tech and when I politely asked for someone else to attend to my pet they slammed the needle they had in their hand onto the table. I feel confident I am making the right choice in not returning. Also the facility was not clean and upon entering a room and finding it dirty I wonder what their quality of cleanliness where owners are not permitted. Will post pictures.

Ive recently starting taking my dog to VCA and love the staff.. The care club has been very helpful as well. My only complaint is that I was quoted a price on a surgery and the price ended up being 3x higher (literally.. No exaggeration).. I had no fair warning either so I was unprepared and very shocked when I went to retrieve my pup and found out the total for the visit.

This place is great. Theyve never been anything but loving to my two dogs and they take the time to talk with me about any concerns I have. One really great thing too is they try to work with you to find treatments that can fit your budget. So happy we found this place.
