This place just wants YOUR MONEY. They dont care about the pets, they are just providing every last little treatment because they want to rack up your bill. I had two appointments within one month, and during THAT SAME MONTH, they gave me two very different possible ages for my adopted pet... couldnt narrow it down any better than that. Same month with the same pet at the same vet. Then I needed them to refill the Interceptor tablet that they already GAVE ME at the first visit. They wont give me the same pill without another appointment. Wow, imagine if everyone needed multiple appointments a year just for a very common medicine. My friend had injections and she didnt needed quarterly appointments! See, they just want your money. Finally, I had two visits there and they lost those records. They couldnt find my name, my phone number, or my dogs name. Oh and that first free visit they promise lasted about ten seconds of her just feeling and few places, and then she went right into "buy this, buy that, get these shots". Anyway, there are better and less expensive places we can all go. If it were up to them, our dogs would cost more than our children.

We only take our cats now to VCA. Weve been to several vets in the area, and would only recommend VCA as a general vet practice. (We have had good experiences with other emergency centers though.) The doctors and staff here have a great bedside manner, are upfront with answers and information, and work with you on whats possible and realistic in treatment. Weve had two dentals with extractions done here, a cancer diagnosis, an asthma diagnosis, and continuing care of our remaining cat. Ive been pleased with the level of professionalism and knowledge in all weve had done here so far. Im a demanding momma when it comes to my pets, and they are always willing to answer my questions, return a call, or deal with my pestering for information (which I do a lot.) I havent found them to be any more expensive than comparable treatment in the area, then again, I wouldnt want to save a few bucks and get lesser care.

I can never thank this business enough for what they have done for us. One of my dogs became ill. We called to tell them her symptoms and they told us to come in within the hour. They gave us some treatment options which included prices. We decided together what the best option was. The next day she still was not feeling well so we brought her back. They ran tests and took excellent care of our baby. We were able to bring her home that day. Sadly, she passed away a few days later. They took such excellent care of our feelings and of our angel. They said they would check her out to see what caused her death for free. We decided to creamate her and bring her ashes home. They gave us a plaque of her paw print, some fur and a very sweet card. Even though the worst happened to us they made the entire process so manageable. I strongly recommend these kind hearted people to anyone.

As a first time dog owner, I was filled with questions and anxiety and needed help! From my first contact with VCA Kirkwood Animal Hospital, a great partnership was born. Thinking my 8-week old Bichon puppy was in distress, I called for an emergency appt and within 15 minutes, I was in the office and my Gizzy was seen (thanks Ashley for getting me in so quickly!). When Dr. DeMarco walked in, I immediately knew Gizzy was in good hands. Dr. DeMarco immediately began to ease both Gizzys (and my) nervousness. She answered a pleather of questions, armed me with knowledge and became my partner and Gizzys advocate on this journey of doggy ownership. Her rapport and approachability was calming and Im so thankful that Gizzy has a great doctor! And me a great advisor! I walked out feeling empowered and confident. Thanks Dr. DeMarco for everything... Youve. Made. A. Difference

I have been taking my fur babies to Kirkwood VCA for over 15 years. Initially, I had Dr. Herman taking wonderful care of my kitties - Taki, Mashka, and Figlet. She was fantastic with their routine healthcare. When they got older, and eventually beyond anything that could be done, she was sensitive and caring. Once I made the difficult decision to euthanize them, she was supportive and treated them, and me, with sensitivity and respect. I have a pup now, Moses, and he sees Dr. Demarco. Shes another amazing Doctor. She takes the time to explain everything, and has a fantastic bedside manner for him, and me! I tend to be a bit neurotic when hes not feeling well. The office staff are helpful and friendly, and they treat everyone with care and respect, and they remember who you are! I cant say enough good things, I highly recommend!

VERY pricey. I went in for an annual check-up for my 2yr old dog and wound up getting billed $240. You have to go there knowing exactly what you want and what you dont want. The staff was very friendly and the ambiance is nice, but I didnt feel there could be an open discussion about vaccinations and tests. I think $140 for a fecal test and heartworm test is WAY overpriced and unnecessary, especially since my dog has been on heartworm medication since forever and it was completely unnecessary. I should have come to the clinic knowing that. Ill probably look elsewhere for next time. I feel like VCA is too big a corporation and because of that, only care about the $$. I plan on looking for a vet thats more practical and open and not trying to pry as much $$ out of me as possible.

We have had a long term great relationship with VCA Kirkwood. The support staff have been very good. They respond quickly, treat us with respect, and show interest in our pets. Dr. Herrman has treated our dog for almost 14 years. She has done an outstanding job. She always delivers the right diagnosis and treatment. To her credit she puts the dog first. She recommends treatments that provide quality of life. She doesnt push treatments that would make us feel better and are expensive if they are not going to improve the pets quality of life. I would recommend her to anyone. She a great vet and has become a professional that we admire and respect.

Dr. Herrman is a blessing. I took my 11yr. Dog for a second opinion. After another vet had me in tears thinking I was about to have to make a very hard choice due to the cost of all these extra test and specialist they were wanting. I love my baby boy but being disabled myself had no idea how I was going to help him. Thank goodness I found Dr. Herrman. She put me at ease with her direct assessment and once she was able to review everything gave me the best news. He wasnt in need of all the extra stuff. Hes has a way to go but Im hopeful now. I am glad to say he will be remaining with VCA KIRKWOOD AND DR. HERRMAN.

My cat Drift has had excellent care here. He suffered from constant urinary blockages, and was lucky enough to get Dr. Lawrie. She has been a savior and champion for Drift. I wouldnt recommend anyone else but her when it comes to cats. She consistently checked up on Drift throughout the process and even after he was better. The front desk staff and nurses are excellent as well, and they always remember me and ask about Drift every time I come in to get food for him. It feels good to know you not only have a very competent Dr. but also are very caring and competent staff. Thank you all so much for everything!!
