WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!! This review is for the Pike Creek Animal Hospital! I do not know the names of the people who were in charge of the supposed care of my dog. It is in my oppinion that these people do not genuinely care about our pets! The staff is uncaring and unprofessional and in need of some serious retraining and possibly a less hectic schedual! It is my belief that the reason I was rushed through the first intial exam was due to overbooking of appointments that day and the overfilled waiting room (with two exam rooms full) was evidence of that! They took my dog back to get blood work done and brought her back to me limping and bloody! The blood was everywhere and it came from a known cyst on her tail that she had for several months and never EVER bled! It is again my oppinion that they lifted my dog to the table by her tail thus repturing the cyst...when the vet went to shave off some of the fur to see the cyst she took a huge gash out of the cyst...Im not saying she is the reason that the tail had to be removed, however I am saying they are careless! I told them that I didnt want her to have the cone that goes around her head...when I picked her up from surgery, sure enough she had that cone and they were sure to charge me for it! I removed it promptly and put it on the counter and requested a refund (which I got)! I inquired as to why her newly amputated tail was not bandaged and insisted that they take her back and bandage it for me to at least get her home, once at home I didnt care if it fell off! They looked at me as if I was asking for the moon, but did as I asked! Today she had to have stitches removed from her tail....When the Vet came out to get my dog, she literally wanted to drag her by her neck, across the floor with her leash and collar while my dog was in a sitting postion (this was the VET)!!!I My dog was trying to get out of the collar and it was like a tug of war!! I grabbed the leash and told her DONT PULL HER LIKE THAT BY THE NECK....I sat down, calmed my dog down (there were several HUGE dogs in the waiting area and my little corgi was scared) and I walked my own dog back to the office door *she had to go to the back to have stitches removed so I couldnt go with her which upset me because I dont trust what they will do to my dog behind my back...if they treat her like that in front of my face! Staff seems agitated that they have to help you made me feel like I was a bother or a hinderence!!! NEVER EVER EVER AGAIN!!!!

I was a first time client today. I was there with my older dog who was injured, so obviously I was already going into the appointment with a fair amount of stress and concern. I had heard good things about the place, but unfortunately my experience wasnt great. Dr. Olsens bedside manner left something to be desired. I was there concerned about a knee injury but I felt that I was moreso chastised for how "very obese" my dog was and trying to sell me on prescription dog food was than addressing his knee issue. I agreed that I was concerned about his weight, having changed his diet over the last few months and not seeing results. That being said, I agreed to having bloodwork done and I am not sure what went down in the back, but my dog is still acting paranoid. It had been taking quite a while for a blood draw and one lady went to check and told me they were just trying to get him to stop wiggling. I could hear him crying, but initially let it go. After a while and seeing 2 or 3 techs go in the room where they took him, the doctor passed by and saw me still waiting. I heard her ask the staff why they werent done with my dog then she went in the back too. When one of the techs finally brought him out, she half apologized for the wait then gave me an ever-changing story: saying initially he wouldnt sit still, then they had to wait for the doctor to draw his blood because they "kept trying and felt bad for sticking him over and over." When I asked how many times they stuck him she then changed her story again to that one person stuck him once and when she was unsuccessful they called in the doctor. It certainly wouldnt hurt for the doctors and staff be POLITE to paying clients and to get your story straight and answer honestly if I have a question about what was done to my animal behind closed doors. Fat shaming my dog certainly wont make him skinnier and talking down to me, as though Im incompetent then having the tech be dishonest with me certainly doesnt make me inclined to come back in the future, or to recommend you to anyone else. Hopefully this review will encourage you to treat people and animals with more respect than I was given today.

My family and I are new to the Pike Creek area and we asked a few friends where would be a good place to go to take our pets. Pike Creek Animal Hospital was mentioned several times. We were able to get an appointment there quickly. On Monday, June 10th I took my beloved 17 year old cat to the Hospital. He had been losing weight for several months and having some other issues that are common with a cat of his age. We had a very short time in the waiting room then got right in with the tech. She was very pleasant and we gave her all info about the cat’s condition and history. The veterinarian, Dr. Cumpstone came in shortly after. She was able to easily diagnose that my cat had a kidney that was greatly inflamed. Opposed to trying to upsell us on extensive tests and blood work, scans, etc., she allowed us to make a difficult decision with practical, honest, and sound advice. We then met with another technician that helped us with the rest of the visit. I wish I had her name but do not. She could not have been more caring or compassionate in this difficult situation. My best friends final procedure was taken care of quickly, easily and without pain. They took care of all my wishes and even gave me a final paw print along with my exit. The bill I received for this office visit was more than fair. I could not believe the wonderful treatment I received at this facility from people I have never met before. I know they must do this all the time but I truly felt their compassion. I have NEVER had an experience like this before that merited a review. I was going to write the above review anyway when yesterday afternoon I received a hand written letter of sympathy from Dr. Cumpstone. It goes without saying that I will bringing all my pets from now going forward to Pike Creek Animal Hospital. Many thanks to all of you.

Very dysfunctional practice. Heres the short and sweet version...this place has no morals or dignity. Vca Pike Creek could care less about you pets health. Their main goal is how to reach deeper in your pockets. They know you only want the best for your pet so they will use that to their advantage. Beyond the fact that thieves work there be very mindful of the managements lies which only serve to protect the criminals that are out to personally rob you and look the other way. Please take caution dealing with VCA Pike Creek. *update* Three weeks after leaving VCA the hospital manager sends me an e-mail blaming me for my own bank theft. She goes on to say that "management" witnessed me giving my co-worker my own debit card to buy food. Seriously? Who does this with anyone other than their significant other? I have the bank statement. They are not happy with the SUSPECT and even they called the management there incompetent. With proof before them they did nothing. My card was never in the building except once and it was inside my car trunk the rest of my time there. Be aware, they still allow this clown (the thief) to work there handling the clientles money. Ive seen him hide receipts in an attempt to get other people in trouble because he is more concerned with brown nosing with managment to get ahead. Its truly pathetic and the managements role in this entire situation is beyond problematic and grossly unprofessional. I left pike creek VCA for a reason. They are called a laughing stock by other VCAs in Delaware for a reason. ...CAUTION... VCA Pike does not value your pet they value how much money they can take from you. If you pay your bill with debit or credit card please keep a close eye on your statements.
