This place has been a horrible experience for me and nothing but a nightmare. I hope others will not fall victim to this “scammer” of an “eye doctor” like I did. After just wanting a simple eye exam so I could then go buy some contact lenses or glasses wherever I decided to spend my money, I have been stuck in a constant back and forth with my vision insurance and this eye doctor in order to have THEIR (Coral Gables Eye Care) "mistakes" fixed. Im really reluctant to believe at this point that it was even an honest mistake(s) on their behalf. This is what happened: During my visits to Coral Gables Eye Care, I paid for everything (including the contact lens fitting, one box of contact lenses, etc) OUT OF MY OWN POCKET so I could then use the full benefit of my vision plan to buy some glasses wherever I would decide to do so. This doctor ended up charging ME and ALSO my insurance benefits, so he charged for the same services TWICE. Luckily (or so I thought) I had receipts for everything because I went back and asked them to write out a detailed receipt for me showing everything I paid for since they never gave me an itemized receipt the first time I visited. Bottom-line is, its been 9 MONTHS since this happened and after countless phone calls to the eye doc and my insurance company, I was again told by another eye glass store I visited today and also my insurance company that doctor Barry Eichenbaum at Coral Gables Eye Care has still not signed and faxed back to them a form to confirm that his office billed my benefits in “error” so this billing “error” can be reversed and I can finally use the benefits of my vision plan that they should have never charged me for in the first place. As a result of this, I have still not been able to get a pair of glasses and spent over an hour at another eye glass store today and yet still had to leave without being able to purchase a pair of glasses once again. After making several phone calls, I was told by my insurance company a few weeks ago that the situation had been rectified but apparently the ‘good doctor’ never faxed them the required paperwork even after having admitted that his office made the billing mistake. So I’m STILL waiting for this problem to finally be fixed. Want to hear another one about this place? When I had ordered a bunch of contact lenses online after my eye exam and simply needed Coral Gables Eye Care to verify my prescription for the company I ordered from, I was told they were not able to do it because I would “have to speak to the doctor first.” After finally getting a call back (I had already called THEM again in the meantime but was not able to speak to the doc), the doctor basically tried to talk me into cancelling my order and buying the contact lenses from him instead. I explained I was getting a much better deal online and yet he still tried to convince me that I would be much happier buying from him because he supposedly had such a great deal for me. I consider that extremely unprofessional conduct on his part. Is he a salesman or an eye doctor? After doing some simple math for him over the phone I politely explained that I had paid a lot less when ordering online for the exact same contact lenses he was trying to sell me and I simply wanted him to verify my prescription. It was obvious he wasn’t happy but they finally gave in to my request after this unnecessary delay. For your own sake and your sanity, save yourself the trouble. If you still decide to go to this place, I sure hope you’ll have a better experience than I had.

As a patient with astigmatism, it has always been very dificult for me to find a doctor that I could feel confortable with. Then, Dr. Eichenbaum was refered to me by my husband. He and I trust Dr. Eichenbaum and we have always received the best care from him and everyone in his office. We highly recomend him.

Will always recommend Dr. Eichenbaum. Very patient and detailed in every visit. It is a shame he does not take my current insurance, because if he did, I would continue to see (no pun intended) him. Keep it up Doc!

After 23 long years looking for a trustable eye doctor, finally found Dr. Eichenbaum thru a coworker. Professional, kind, knowledgeable and always take time to explain every procedure performed to your eyes.
