Compassion for the animals and their owners is lost and disregarded due to the arrogance and unprofessional behavior from the vet, Dr Castro and her inexperienced staff.. phone calls not returned, information not relayed.. which causes animals to not get the treatment they so very need.. unfortunately this ends in detrimental consequences and loss for the pets family, both financially and emotionally. Dr Castro treating a pet and releasing it without even talking to the owners.. who does this??? A pet parent should always feel reassured by their animals doctor about treatment and prognosis.. office is old and dingy and lacks an element of comfort that is not made up for with the rudeness of the staff and their focus on the money and billing rather than the care of the animal.. Dr Castro has a very intimidating and demeaning manner when dealing with pet parents who love their animals. She has a God like complex and very narcissistic attitude which is readily demonstrated.. she lacks bedside manner.. her ways are antiquated and she is behind with new technology and studies which would help her animal patients greatly. I spent money on medication that after a second opinion was found in effective for my pet and ended up being a total waste. A $300.00 waste. Bottom line: dont use this office and please warn other pet parents of the lack of care their beloved animal will receive.. I lost my rescue baby and the sweetest soul I have ever met due to the misconduct of this office and at the hands of the "Great" Dr Castro. Please go elsewhere, anywhere so that this doesnt happen to you and your family.

I recently moved down from Pennsylvania and had issues with both our dogs. We were completely new to the area and had no idea where to go. After doing a lot of research and looking at reviews I chose the Animal Clinic of Edgewater and would highly recommend them to ANYONE looking for a vet in this area. We had an emergency with one of our dogs on a Saturday and they were totally accommodating to take her on a weekend even though they had never seen her before. The front staff and the vet were caring, helpful, and clearly pet lovers. We were taken on time with no waiting. She was diagnosed immediately with a UTI and put on medication.Having come from Pennsylvania I found the prices to be very reasonable. A week later our Daschund hurt his back badly at night. We went to an Emergency Clinic in Daytona Beach that was awful. I made the decision to wait until the morning and have Dr. Castro look at him. I showed up on their door at 7:30 a.m. in tears from being up all night and having my dog not be able to walk. The staff was so wonderful, sympathetic, brought me right in. Dr. Castro was absolutely wonderful, saw me right away, did enough testing to diagnose but didnt over do it either. She was not only perfect with our dog but she was just awesome in calming me down. Again, the costs were very much in line and better than I would pay in Pa. Dr. Castro took the time to go over the x-rays with me. In two days Calvin is walking again and the staff called to check on how he was doing. I highly recommend this Clinic and Dr. Castro.

I woke up from morning to three of my cats not being able to breathe or meow, and being patients at Edgewater Animal Clinic thought at least someone would look at them and to tell me what was wrong. Instead they told me they were too busy and were unable to help me. I rushed him to be Beechwood Animal Clinic on Beachside and was seen within a half an hour as a new Now my mother has been a patient there since all her animals were kittens and puppies which is been a very long time. She is dealing with a cat who has lost 90% of his kidney functions. He had his last checkup yesterday and all the vet was trying to do was make money by telling her to vaccinate the cat when he barely had a day left to live. My mother said she cried and asked him why they were even bothering to vaccinate a cat who had one day left, and nobody had an answer. Instead the tech brought the doctor and another tech in the room to basically bombard her with questions instead of just caring and letting her know that they would take care of everything. Now she has taken the cat over to Beechwood Animal Clinic, and they are putting him down this afternoon at 2. He has never been there before but the vet there care so much about their patients and their animals that they took him in as a new patient to make sure that he could be put down and spent his last day on Earth in a comfortable place where people care about him. I will never recommend dr. Castro to anybody

I reviewed the website and downloaded their paperwork from the website. I saw nothing on their website about "appointments required". I completed my paperwork and showed up at 12:00 PM, (they close at 2:00 on Wed). I told the receptionist I had a sick cat and would like her looked at. She barked at me"do you have an appointment"? I said know, but I have all of my paperwork completed and I didnt see anything on your website about appointments? About that time another women, crowell on her face, piped in " I got to get that dog in the tub and its already noon". "We dont have time." Barked back at me again, "You need and appointment sir". No one ever asked about my animal. Fortunately there is another vet about a block away who was 180 degrees the opposite and welcomed me. Definitely, NOT the caring staff represented on the website. Based on my experience, with Animal Clinic of Edgewater, I would definately NOT recommend this company.

I cannot say enough good things about Dr Kim Castro and the entire staff, I have owned multiple dogs my whole life, typically 4 to 6 at a time so I have tons of experience with dogs and caring for them and over the years have used several different clinics before finding this one. trust me when I say how good she is. Recently they saved my little min pin when he was in a fight with our bulldog, he went into shock for 3 days and if not for the tireless effort of their staff he might not be around today. they also didnt gouge me on the bill. meanwhile my other friends who take their dogs to a different nearby clinic not only needlessly lost their pet they were hit with a 4,000.00 bill to boot. you have to be wary of these fly by night vet clinics who hire temporary doctors to fill in spots and then move on to the next town. My pets will stay at this clinic for their care

I have never known a more accomplished vet and certainly not a more caring and compassionate one...I have been in her clinic when there is an unhappy client, and it has always been the client who is inappropriate and out of line....There issues are usually of their own negligence, and not of any kind of mistreatment by Dr. Castro or her staff... She goes above and beyond for every animal that comes through her doors and loves them all! I recommend Dr. Castro to EVERYONE I know, and never has anyone come back to me disappointed! They return to me grateful to have found her! Thank you Dr. Castro and your staff! You are a a credit to your profession! Keep doing just what you are doing! We love you and so does our pets!!!!
