I understand Dr. Griffins strength, very detailed and thorough. This place does everything by the book. My review is nothing personal, but hopefully helpful for those living in SC with dogs having skin rashes, wet pustules. My dog Chewy has been to Dr Griffin for over a year before we moved. Initial visit was due to his skin rash, because of SCs extreme humidity. Dr Griffin diagnosed this as bacteria infection. Chewy was prescribed antibiotics for a few weeks, which helped clear some parts of the rash, but dark spots started to appear, turning Chewy into looking like a Dalmation. During these few weeks, he still had more pustules breakouts. We went back, I believe, and more antibiotics was prescribed. This not only made Chewys stomach weak, (weekly diarrhea, same diet) it did not stop his pustules from breaking out. Finally, I went to a holistic vet in Charlotte to resolve this with Skin Balance pills from Amazon, which worked perfectly btw. After a year later, we went back to Dr. Griffin to get flight health certificate, since Ive adopted a more of a holistic vet policy for Chewy suggested by the vet in Charlotte, he hasnt been given his yearly booster shots for parvo and distemper. He still had rabies shots of course. During this last checkup, we were treated like aliens, rude attitudes and suspicious of us as if we were contagious of whatever! I understand alienating us from the rest of the dogs in the clinic, but couldve done it without the attitudes and ill temper. While Chewy was on the exam table, Dr. Griffin was checking on the tarter on Chewys teeth. Without telling what shes going to do, she took out metal pliers and applied with extreme force on Chewys premolars, thus taking out a piece of tarter. I get maybe she was trying to be helpful showing me that I need to get his teeth cleaned, but shes no dentist and probably shouldnt be applying so much force with metal pliers, unless she was doing a tooth extraction. I appreciate the show and tell education, but really couldve done it without the blood and the metal pliers! Im choose to be different for the benefit of my pet, doesnt make me stupid or ignorant. I wish vets now a days are more open to alternative treatments, rather than giving antibiotics to "solve" anything. Im leaving this review in all honesty and to the best of my knowledge.

I adopted a pomeranian puppy the summer before my sophomore year at the University of South Carolina. I had tried a different vet before happening upon Griffin Animal Hospital. I am so thankful that I found Dr. Griffin. Dr. Griffin, along with her entire staff, are simply amazing! Everyone is very friendly and act as though they are your best friend. They give such love and attention to each and every animal that walks through their door. Bebe (my pom) was cared for exceptionally well every time we went whether it was for an annual exam, an emergency stomach pump because she got herself into something she shouldnt have, or having to be boarded while on vacations. Over the three years we were in Columbia, I had two foster dogs that also saw Dr. Griffin and her team. While those two dogs were temporary family members until they found their forever home, they were treated with the same love and attention as if they were my permanent fur-babies. Ive seen some reviews that Griffin Animal Hospital is more expensive than other vets, and while I cant attest to that fact, I vouch for the fact that every penny spent is well worth it knowing that my dog is being cared for by only the best in the business. If you are moving into the area, looking for a different vet, or just adopted a new fur baby then look no further for your animals medical needs. I only left Dr. Griffin because we moved out of state, but have still called on them for their opinions since then (which they never hesitated to help). I only have the utmost respect for Griffin Animal Hospital and solely recommend them as the Vet of Choice for Columbia, SC.

My husband and I have been taking our two dogs to Griffin Animal Hospital since they opened. We always appreciate the kind, gentle staff and enjoy seeing Dr. Griffin and Dr. Rosmer (formerly Dr. Ford), but our most memorable experience with Griffin Animal Hospital happened last summer. I had taken one of our dogs, Georgia, in for a follow-up appointment for an injured paw. While getting ready to head home, with temperatures in the upper 90’s, I accidently locked her in the car. Panicked, I ran inside for help and the Griffin Animal Hospital staff sprang into action. They did everything they could to help me get Georgia out of the hot car as quickly as possible. When we did get the car open (with the help of the Columbia Fire Department), I rushed over to Georgia and she barely responded. Thankfully, Dr. Griffin and a vet tech stepped right in and quickly carried Georgia inside. While my dog was getting the care she needed, I was comforted by other Griffin Animal Hospital staff members. Today, Georgia is healthy and happy. My husband and I are so grateful to Dr. Griffin and her staff for all they did that day, not only to save our dog, but to offer me support during a very scary time. We’re certain that we owe this story’s happy ending to the capable and caring people at Griffin Animal Hospital.

We have taken our two rescue dogs, Molly & Daisy, to Dr. Griffin and Dr. Rosmer for the last year, after relocating from Atlanta. I can honestly say, the entire staff is wonderful and really care about the animals and about their human care takers. Both of my girls can be nervous at the vet, so being with them throughout their visit, including shots and exams, is extremely important for me. Fortunately, no one at Griffin Animal Hospital seems to mind the fact that I want to be there to comfort my girls and happily accommodate my request to be with them at all times. We also took a foster puppy to Dr. Griffin, desperate to get it help when we werent receiving the support we needed from the rescue group we were fostering through. Dr. Griffin gave the puppy care when she didnt know if she would be reimbursed - because she genuinely cared. And when we were told the puppy might not make it, Julie, the receptionist, teared up with me when she saw how upsetting the situation was for all of us. Fortunately, the puppy did make it, in large part to Dr. Griffins persistence. I can not recommend Griffin Animal Hospital enough - theyre wonderful!

I have been going to Dr Griffin for more than eight years. She has cared for all four of my dogs that I have had over the years. She has been an amazing person in my life and my dogs lives. She is so easily accessible and will do anything for your pet at the drop of a hat. Even when I moved a state away she still skyped with me when my chihuahua was sick and diagnosed her over the phone. She has even come in on her days off when my dogs have had emergency situations. Her love for animals is unconditional. I am beyond grateful to have her as my vet and I know all four of my dogs would have said the same thing if they could speak :) Please if you are looking for a vet in the area, give Dr Griffin the opportunity to take care of your pet!!!!!
