I took my 19-yr old cat there first for care, then to be euthanized. Dr. Atkinson is outstanding. His care for and knowledege about pets is clear from the minute he walks in the room, and he is also concerned for his clients. He was patient both explaining my cats condition and while I put him to sleep, and he conducted the process in a very respectful and unhurried way. He answered questions directly and honestly, and left all decisions up to me without rushing or being pushy. Its clear that his first priorities are for the pets, their owners, and his work, and that payment is further down the line. 19 years is a long time and I got really attached to my cat, and my memory of putting him to sleep is a very nice one after the way Dr. Atkinson handled it. His facilities are modern, clean, and bright, the rooms are open, and his receptionists and techs are very nice. Ill take my future pets there and will recommend his hospital to others.

Weve had repeat mishaps with customer care such as undocumented appointments, confusion on the staffs part as to what our dogs are being seen for, confusing one dog for the other, inconsistent recommendations/ orders for care between vets, lost paperwork from our old vet, etc. (Our dog Darwin was in for vaccinations but his rabies tag had our other dogs name on it who was also being seen the same day for another issue. We also got calls that day asking what our dogs were in for even though I had booked the appointments a week earlier.) They do not work with online prescription dispensers like 1800 PETMEDS which we found out the hard way. I sent in my order, waited several days until PETMEDS sent notice of nonresponse from our vet. I had to call Shandon-Wood to investigate further. This is also one of the more expensive facilities. I would have expected better. We are going to switch.

Called at 7:10pm to find out if we could bring our dog in because she had a cut on her leg which needed stitches. They asked the vet and said yes we could come. I told them we were 30 to 35 mins away. They said ok. We of course didnt leave that second as we had to put our other dogs up. At 7: 39pm we got a call from them asking if we were coming. I told them we were 5 mins away. They told me they thought we would be there by 7:30. I explained that we were only 5 mins away.... then I was told that they had already cleaned up for the evening.... then I was told it might be best to go ahead and take her to the emergency vet. At this point I was so shocked/disappointed/frustrated that I wouldnt have taken my dog there anyway! We ended up having to drive to Harbison to have our dog treated. We wont be back to Shandon-Wood.

I have nothing but good things to say about every staff member here, from the front desk, to the vet techs and vets. Any time Ive called theyve always scheduled me in ASAP and Ive never waited in the waiting room for a room to be free. I bring both of my dogs here and theyre treated like they are the staffs own. Every time Ive brought my pups in, regardless of the reason of the visit, they do almost a full exam. Check ears, nose, eyes, joints and body which I love how thorough it is. They have great hours, have sent paperwork multiple times to a business that has misplaced vet records on numerous occasions and were happy to do so. Im not sure about if they are pricier than other places as other reviews have stated but its worth it to pay a little more to know youre getting quality care for your furry family members.

Im not sure how much you can love your experience when its for your pet thats been hit by a car, but, here it goes......my Golden was hit and could not be picked up from the road he was in such pain. I called my previous vet, they would not come and offered no empathy or advice on how to transport him. One of the girls that stopped to offer some help called her vet, Shandon-Wood, and they drove to us with a muzzle and a stretcher and transported Harley back to the office. They stayed in touch and let me know my options from the minute I got there. Every tech and vet that I came in contact with was professional and sympathetic to my situation. I couldnt have asked for a better experience. Thank you to the staff and everyone involved for loving Harley and making sure he was cared for.

Great experience here. They have treated my dog with nothing but kindness and attention. They also saved my cats life. We went for a routine checkup and vaccinations and found that she had acute renal failure. She was hospitalized for three days and when I went to pick her up, she was bouncing, happy, and meowing. I could tell they took great care of her and loved on her a lot during her stay. Most cats would be anxious or upset. I know they made her comfortable. Since this was an emergency procedure, they also let me set up a payment plan to pay for this (which they dont normally do) and still continued to educate me and work on her care. I am so grateful for them. I will never go anywhere else.

Shandon Wood Animal Clinic has provided quality care for my pets for over 30 years. The veterinarians and the staff are very understanding, courteous, knowledgable and helpful. On May 12 I took my Doberman Desi to SWAC after discovering a couple of lumps. After a thorough examination which included needle aspirations of the lumps, Dr. Otis reassured me that there was no sign of malignancy and no cause to worry. It is a relief to have the results of procedures while I am in the clinic. I continually recommend Shandon Wood Animal Clinic without reservation to all those who want the best care possible for their pets.

I would highly recommend and love Shandon-Wood Animal Clinic. Dr. Rasor and her team were the absolute best to work with while our cat was severely sick. Dr. Rasor always communicated all our options very clearly and never pressured us into any treatment course that we weren’t fully on board with. We truly felt that all the staff members at Shandon-Wood cared about our cat and how he was doing. It is always hard going through times when a part of your family is sick, but having this top notch team along side of us was more than we could have ever asked for from an animal clinic.

My cat was having asthma symptoms on the weekend so I took him in to see Dr. Ross at Shandon Wood Animal Clinic. She was fantastic! She put my cat at ease right away with her gentle manner and took care of his breathing issues. She did a thorough exam and took great care of him. I was a little worried about the cost since this was a weekend visit, but the charges were very reasonable and completely worth it for the services we received. I would definitely recommend this clinic and Dr. Ross. We will definitely be back!! Thank you, Dr.Ross!

Dr. Ross performed surgery on my Basset Hound, Daisy. She is doing so well and I really appreciate the care she received. Dr. Ross did a wonderful job! The price was VERY reasonable, and it has taken a load of stress off of me and Daisy in a literal sense. I love my old dog so much and I am so happy that this probably prolonged her life and her wellbeing. I will definitely recommend Shandon Wood to anyone that asks about a great animal clinic that is financially reasonable, as well as very professional. Thank you so much! :)
