If you leave a negative review on their Facebook page they will delete it and block you. Dont be fooled by all the positive reviews you see on their Facebook page because there are twice as many negative reviews you dont see because they were deleted and the person was blocked! Please take my advice and do not take your pet here! My dog is dead because this place never took x-rays they were given permission for 3 times and yet they wanted to operate even though they didnt know what they were operating for?? My dog also collapsed in the back and I was never informed of this, and he also was soaked in urine when I got him back because hed laid in it! They didnt clean him up or apologize for that. I want to warn others to stay away and find somewhere else that cares about your pet and not your wallet! Edit: You see the reply they left to my comment? Notice they didnt address the fact that they NEVER took the x-rays they were given permission to do when I arrived and that I signed off on. You remember the lady you send out to collect the $78 office fee when patients arrive? Yeah, she asked about the x-rays and we gave her permission and signed off on it, we never saw or heard from her again. What was I meeting with the vet for later when she hadnt even performed the x-rays even though Id been waiting over an hour? How can you give us options when you didnt even know what the diagnosis was? I cancelled the x-rays when it was clear you werent going to take them and your vet wanted to do surgery before telling the results of the x-rays you never took! I also notice you didnt bother to address the fact that my dog laid in his own urine and you didnt apologize nor bother to clean him up, I had to do that in the parking lot because his stomach was soaked with urine. Yes, I left you a negative review that you seemed more concerned about than my dog because you were quick to call me about that but my dog spent 3 1/2 hours and you still didnt even attempt to give a diagnosis! I stand by everything I said in my email as it was spot on in my opinion and if you cant handle it then Im sorry. Dont you find it funny that your reviews on Google are much more negative than on your Facebook page? Wonder why that is, perhaps because you cant control what people say on here like you can on Facebook. I will gladly speak up for my deceased dog about my experience because I dont want someone else making the mistake I did by taking my dog to your place of business. If it saves just one owner from going through what I went through then its worth it. Please go give your excuses to someone else that wants to hear them because I dont. You dont put animals first and just because you post a few pics on your Facebook page every now and then doesnt change the fact that all you care about is money and doing exploratory surgery on a 12 year old dog and then telling the owner youll euthanize his dog when he doesnt think surgery is wise on a dog that age. I wasnt about to put my dog through that so you could go to exploratory surgery, because thats exactly what it was since you never gave a diagnosis. Dont you dare put the blame on me when I was the only one looking out for my dog, while you could have cared less and it was plainly obvious. My vet called me to check on Bully everyday for a week until he died, how many times did you call? None! If you cared as much about peoples pets and their feelings as much as you do your precious reviews, maybe you wouldnt be such an awful run business.

My lab mix chewed a stick on her final evening walk last night, and began exhibiting symptoms of having something stuck in her throat. I took her to SC Vet Specialists when she was unable to dislodge the piece herself, and began to become extremely distressed. I was extremely pleased with the care she and I received while there. She was taken right in (we arrived just after midnight), and after evaluation and observation (She had apparently managed to clear the obstruction herself), we went home 2 1/2 hours later. During the time she was being cared for, the vet presented various options of what could be done (an x-ray, which he warned may or may not show wood due to its density, or sedation and endoscopic examination,), however, since her symptoms had ceased, and she was no longer distressed, he recommended observation - a course of action I was very comfortable with (I am retired from the medical community, and would have recommended the same for a choking patient no longer exhibiting symptoms). At no time was I pressured to do additional tests, procedures, or surgeries. I found the staff to be very professional, caring, personable, and honest in their recommendations and treatment. Their love of animals was very evident, as my dog was very comfortable with them. A lot of reviews presented here complain about the fees associated with ER vet care...like any emergency services (human or pet), it is going to be more expensive than a visit to ones regular health provider. As somebody who moved to Columbia from New England, I can honestly say that the fees at SC Vet are more than reasonable. Many years ago I had to rush a pet to an ER vet in Maine - it was $150.00 just to walk through the door and be evaluated - SC Vet was $ 78.00. The check in paperwork about fees was very concise, spelling out the evaluation fee, the estimate process, and the arrangements for payment. Unless you have pet insurance, bringing any animal to an ER vet is going to be expensive - its a smart idea to have an emergency fund set aside for vet care, in case you should need it. For routine care, my pets are established with a vet closer to home, but it was nice to have a 24 hour option available when we needed it. I will not hesitate to use SC Vet again for after hours emergencies, and highly recommend them.

I took my dog Indy here on 10-20-16 after coming home after work and finding her with a swollen bloody face, fever and chills. After examining her for 10 mins the vet told me she needed to stay till Monday possible and they had no idea what was wrong but it was going to cost $1200 - and up for her to have testing to figure out the issue. I didnt have $1,200 at 1am so I ask for them to give her pain meds and release her so I could take her to my vet in the AM. They then began pressuring me into paying more basically telling me my dog was going to die that night if I didnt pay the $1,200 for testing. I held my ground and they released my dog but not without giving her additional medication for nausea that she didnt need. My bill was $147.00 due at the time before I could get my dog back. $78 for the visit, $14 for an injection fee, $3 for the actual medication I asked for and an additional $37 for nausea injections my dog didnt need. My dog was dirty and covered in dried blood when they brought her out and I left there hopeless feeling like my dog was going to die. The vet spent maybe 10 minutes with me throughout my 3 hours at the hospital but most of that was pressing me to pay the $1,200. The next day I took my dog to Elam Animal, they immediately started her on fluids, steriods and antibiotics diagnosing her with Puppy Strangles. By the end of the visit my dog was noticeably better and Im happy to say shes eating, drinking and getting back to her old self. My visit plus her prescriptions with them cost me $180. A far cry from the $1,200+ the vet told me was needed to save my dogs life the night before. I dont like writing bad reviews because I understand vets lose alot of money because people dont pay and they have to make money to operate but this was just a disgusting example of how some vets will prey on the emotions of pet owners for as much money as they can with no regard. THEY ARE ONLY IN IT FOR AS MUCH MONEY AS THEY CAN GET BEWARE! If at all possible avoid taking your pet here!
