Friendly WARNING to our friends with pets IN AVALON PARK, WATERFORD LAKES, EAST COLONIAL, EAST ORLANDO! We boarded Marino at Your Family Veterinarian last week while we were on vacation and he came back with HUNDREDS of seed ticks!!!! Im not talking a few ticks here and there, HUNDREDS! You could actually see them bouncing off the bathroom and hallway walls. Marino lives indoors and only goes outside on a leash to potty so a tick issue was rather shocking. We had to have Marino get a tick dip AND bomb the house over the weekend which costs $175 PLUS washing EVERYTHING in our 5 bedroom 4 bathroom home, and I mean everything - toys, blankets, clothing, etc, scrub down all of the floors multiple times, and all furniture, counters, etc. As you can imagine this was a great WASTE OF PRECIOUS TIME and a GREAT SCARE. Unfortunately, thats the not worst part. The worst is the way they handled the issue. I called ahead of time and explained everything to them, including the concerns due to having a new born, toddler, and three other kids plus elderly in the home. Even the two diff girls I spoke with over the phone and in person agreed with me on how awful this was. Long story short, the office manager was conveniently out to lunch when I dropped Marino off for the tick dip (she walked right past me) and also very conveniently never "received our messages to call back". Today, three days later after 10 excruciating minutes on the phone with my husband, all she did was be defensive, give excuses, say she never got our calls but that she called us back, blah blah blah... and some more nonsense that people say when theyre in the wrong and are hard set in not taking responsibility. The best part though was when she said that we knew there was a chance that ticks could happen and that we could have a 25% off a future visit. So there you have it friends! This last trip to Your Family Veterinarian at $170 bucks bought us a TICK INFESTATION, a horrible scare, 16 hours of hard labor and a $175 pest control bill. We thought for sure that at a minimum they would refund the boarding costs and ideally cover the pest bill. What a shame that two years of being a loyal customer and dropping a small fortune on two dogs means nothing and they dont have the sense to recognize how much more money they are loosing in the long run.

I have never had a problem with the vet he is a very good vet. However the staff is always unwelcoming and seem to hate their job and today proved that even more. Today I picked my dog up from boarding. First discerning sign was that they didnt give her ANY of the food we provided for them (the food servings were in separate bags for easy feeding), but after I was able to better looked at her I noticed she was having symptoms of extreme heat exhausting (heaving panting, excessive drooling - she NEVER drools - her body felt like it was on fire, her gums were BRIGHT red, her eyes were glazed over instead of being her happy usual self, she drank an entire water bottle, and her heart rate was extremely fast.) Im honestly glad I came home early Im scared she couldve suffered from permanent damage if I didnt. On top of that she was bleeding under her arm and after I got a better look it was completely scratched and blistered. Im not sure what they did or didnt do at the boarding place. But Dr. Garcia needs to take a good long look on how theyre treating them over there because it will completely ruin his practice if something doesnt change.

Had been taking my Shepherd-mix dog to the shall-remain-nameless Pet Store chain (because I adopted her as a puppy there during one of the adoption days and had the wellness plan paid for) where we would wait upwards of an hour past the appointment time and it got to the point one day where she was such a nervous wreck that she literally crawled in my lap (45-50lbs) and death-stared me until we left. We havent been back since. YFV is closer to where I live and the doc and techs have been attentive, kind, and informative and my dog loves them - she can get restless during the little bit of time we *might* have to wait for the appointment to conclude but shes FAR from the nervous wreck she used to be when check-up time comes around. Weve never had to wait more than 10-15 minutes past the appointment time, most times we go right in, and they ARE open and the doc available on Saturdays which is super convenient. Have not boarded her here so I cant speak to that service.

I can honestly say I feel comfortable leaving Arya (my 2 and a half year old lab mix) at YFV whenever I travel. I dont get to see my family very often, so I make a trip 2 or 3 times a year to see them and my mind is at ease. The staff loves Arya just as much as she loves them. I wish I was making this up, but Arya actually leaps out of the car and pulls her leash towards the YFV whenever I park there. Her tail wags like crazy too. And to be honest, if I wasnt a college student I would say they are pretty cheap there too. But they never charge me more than the necessary means to make sure Aryas taken care of. Your Family Veternarian is Aryas second home for sure.

During both experiences at Your Family Veterinarian, the staff seemed unhappy and disinterested with their jobs. I made this assumption because while waiting in one of the rooms I could hear the technicians talking negatively about their current responsibilities. Comments such as “I hate my life”, “That dog better not bite me” and “This day is going so slow” were heard. I understand that sometimes we have bad days; however, it is unprofessional to talk this away in front of your customers (whether you realize they can hear you or not). Our dogs are like family and we expect to have them treated as such. I will not be talking my dogs back to this location.

Left my dog boarding for 4 nights, they sent me a couple of pictures of my dog as i requested via text, everything up to the point i picked him up was fine. When i went to pick him up (he is a 9 pound yorkie) the female employee handed him to me and his paws were soaked in urine all four of them even his mouth area was wet with urine. They staff seemed all happy like everything was fine. This is the Last time i leave my dog there. I also used to bring him for his shots and stuff, but never again will i walk in that building, had to drive my dog home and give him a bath and wash my car , atleast wipe down his paws ....nope nothing.

We love YFV. They have always been great to our dogs. They always see them when there is an emergency, they are kind compassionate and they are very reasonable. They really are like a country vet. My dogs Maya and Kiki totally love them!!! They have great groomers, great customer service and my dogs LOVE going there... Now they need a daycare so I can bring my dogs everyday.. Thank you

I have been going to this veterinarian for almost four years. They are excellent!!! I drive almost an hour to continue to take my dog to them. They are excellent in caring for my Angel Puppy. As well as being very reasonable in cost. They are very knowledgeable and caring. I cant say enough good things about "Your Family Veterinarian". Your pet will be soooo Happy!!!
