My first experience with Compassionate Care Veterinary Hospital of Charlotte was outstanding! Our little miniature Schnauzer Tucker had been vomitting for 7 days (on day 5 he vomitted up a good amount of a dog toy rope that our younger dog must have "deconstructed"), and our "home" veterinary clinic (whom we love) referred us to Compassionate Care when their xray machine was being repaired. From the moment we walked into the veterinary hospital, we were greeted warmly and made to feel welcome. Everyone expressed genuine concern for our sweet dog, and we knew we were in good hands. The xray tech Emily was wonderful. It was obvious that she adores dogs, and Tucker was immediately comfortable with her. The office administrator asked if I wanted to go home for the hour they would be keeping Tucker for the second set of barium test xrays. When they were finished, I was promptly called by Dr. Hendren, the attending veterinarian. She was just as wonderful, asking if I wanted to see the xrays. She had been in touch with our vet concerning the xrays (knowing that if surgery to remove any blockage was required, Tucker would be transferred back to Matthews Animal Clinic for the procedure). Dr. Hendren and Emily had already sent the xrays to our vet at Matthews Animal clinic, and she explained that she believed Tucker did not have a blockage remaining (the rope most likely caused the initial problem and then created irritation in his stomach which led to more vomitting). However, she graciously deferred to our vet for the final decision. Additionally, Dr. Hendren advised that I return the next afternoon (24 hours later) for follow-up xrays to be sure the barium had been fully processed. We did so, and she was elated to show me those xrays as well, while still graciously deferring to our vet for a final diagnosis. Emily burned a disc with the xrays for us, and our vet talked with us and confirmed that he agreed fully with Dr. Hendrens diagnosis. Tucker did not have any remaining obstruction, and he would be fine. To top it all off, one of the xray techs that second visit came out to the waiting area to ask if they could clip Tuckers nails while he was being treated, and two days following that visit Dr. Hendren left a voicemail checking on him and wanting to make sure he was doing well. Wow! We truly could not have asked for a more professional, compassionate or attentive staff than those we encountered at Compassionate Care Veterinary Hospital of Charlotte. I highly recommend them, and we will always be thankful for their intervention when our little "furry baby" was sick and needing medical care.

We had just moved to the neighborhood and our 12 year old choc lab became very ill very suddenly. Our current vet was too far for this emergency situation (20 minute drive at least). I drive by Compassionate Care Veterinary Hospital every day on my way to work and as we are new to the neighborhood it is the ONLY veterinary clinic walking distance from our new home. It was 6pm on a FRIDAY. As we walked in the clinic I noticed the sign on the front door indicated closing time: 6:30. I just KNEW we were going to get huffy attitudes coming in so close to closing on a FRIDAY. These people didnt know us and we were NOT patients here....... BOY WAS I SO WRONG!! My dog was seen IMMEDIATELY. We were treated with dignity and respect. We were welcomed with smiles and a very helpful "can do" attitude. Not one single person seemed upset or disgruntled that we came it at closing time from the front office all the way to the doctor. Sadly, after tests and xrays, our precious old man was diagnosed with Lymphoma. Dr. Johnson and her assistant were straight-forward yet compassionate. She gave us all the information needed to make an informed decision on our dogs future care. I really thought we were going to have to put our dog down right then and there.......however, Dr. Johnson prescribed meds to make our buddy comfortable and able to eat again. Due to her swift attention to him we were able to have an additional 15 days with our precious boy. He was even playing and running around outside---the meds worked!!!. Dr. Johnson referred us to "Laps of Love" for our final decision and this was also a wonderful experience. We will be taking ALL future pets to Compassionate Care Veterinary Hospital of Charlotte. Come to think of it, I wish we had been going there all along. Miracle Warren and Steve ReVille

Dr Johnson and the whole staff at compassionate care are great! Dr Johnson has identified and helped get under control a pesky allergy issue my dog Max has to finally get him in his happy place! We have been taking our animals here for the last few years and from the front office to the Drs the entire staff has been amazing. Thank you for all you do for our fur babies and for us! Cant say enough good things.. If you are looking for a great vet that treats you and your animals like family you have to come here!

Abosultey wonderful!!! The man who initially helped our pitbull was great. They made us comfortable, and showed our dog so much love. Close to closing they still helped my baby and made sure he had all the things he needed with stiches and all after hours. I will take all of my animals there. Great people to care for our animals and give us everything we could ask for and more.

I would give Compassionate Care a 10 star rating if I could! Weve recently moved to the area and have tried other vets and we really like Dr. Johnson. She has taken such good care of our dog and you can tell that she has genuine concern for our pet. She even called us over the weekend to see how he was doing. I couldnt be more pleased with their thorough care and kind staff.

I am very grateful for the love and care my Schnauzer is given at Compassionate Care, Dr. Johnson is awesome, as well as the staff. Being new to the area I am happy to have found a hospital, Dr, and staff who obviously love their patients and give them the best care. Cost is very reasonable as whats best for the pet seems to be priority.

We absolutely love Dr. Forbes. She has been so helpful for all our needs. Every time we come in we are treated like family. They never over charge and a lot of times you can get prescriptions much cheaper from here then the pharmacy. We highly recommend bringing your loved ones here. Chapin & Chris
