AVOID THIS PLACE!! This was one of the worst experiences I have ever had for my pet. I had a 13 year old cat. On Monday night around 8pm he had symptoms of a stroke. I called my vet and they referred us to this place. We lived about 20 minutes away but got our cat in the car and rushed here. The first sign that this was a horrible place was: I had to pay $97 UP FRONT via credit card AND they wanted to photocopy my drivers license. That was fine as I understood it was emergency service and I am not complaining about price but there was NO sense of urgency to see my pet as they processed my payment. We were put in a room and told there were 3 cases in front of us but they would prioritize each case. I guess a stroke is pretty low on their priority list as a dog was brought in with a small spider bite and he was seen before us. Hey I dont mind waiting my turn but the lack of compassion stunk! We were never checked on the whole time we were there. After an hour (yes we timed it), all other patients were seen before our poor cat. 15 more minutes go by and we could hear the vet on a personal phone call as the walls were paper thin. By an hour and 30 minutes we realized either this place didnt want to deal with a stoke cat or they just have NO sense of compassion. The cat was distressed because of being sick AND for being at the vet. We felt it was best to take the cat home and wait for our local vet as it was only 10 hours till they opened. What totally sickened me and makes me write this article is we are walking out and I say to the girl I want a refund on my money. She had to go ask the vet and the vet said refund. Never coming to see how bad the cat was, never taking the time to make the situation right. I brought the cat home, made him comfortable and my vet seen him right away where he was compassionately put to sleep. My pet should not have had to suffer as long as it did because of this place! I would never recommend this place and I will make it my mission to tell all in my area and local papers how we were treated!

for all you animal lovers please read that this vet NOT PROFESSORIAL or COMPASSIONATE all they care about is the money they make . Earlier in the day I was calling several vets researching coming across this vet asking about prices regarding my dog, spoke to this vet on the phone about my dog needing medical attention. They told me $70 (I did not have it at the time, I told them we would have it that night when my son came home from work) they told me to come in when I have the money. As I was monitory my dog threw out the day I notice he urinated on his self, causing me great concern just at that time one of the vets that I called, had called me back an in a panic mode I told her what was going on and she said come in, I went in an she told me it was going to cost me $70 for an exam which I did not have at the time till later on that night , the doctor Cindy Wassermann came in an started giving me a serene about if (because I had no money until later on that night ) if a man came up to me on the street and ask me for money for himself and two children to feed would I give it to him, I said yes I would but that is not the same thing I came to you as a veterinary an a professional to help my sick dog that THEY KNEW was going to pass away , they still YET refused me and I AGAIN LEFT with my very sick , . Again I was refused treatment for my sick dog. As I came home from getting my daughter from work, we noticed Louie was not breathing very well and wanted to bring him back in. My son gave me the $70 to get him exam but as I was driving to the vet my dog pass away in my arms. Rest in peace Louie June 20, 2004 – march 30, 2017 #justiceforlouie <3

Our beloved 12 yr old Lhasa Apso Bengi developed a very sudden severe spinal injury causing total paralysis in his rear legs. After an examination at Kellys animal hospital in PSL they referred us to the Animal Emergency & Referral center in Fort Pierce to see a specialist. They called ahead to inform them of the dogs condition and I had a brief conversation with Dr Lyman. We immediately drove there and Bengi was taken right in for examination. About 30 minutes later Dr Lyman was ready to give us the results. He started out by detailing his experience and background in his field eventually leading up to how serious Bengis condition was and our options. If there was anything positive about this day it was the true professionalism, care and compassion shown by Dr. Lyman and his staff as we started to understand how this sad and traumatic day was going to end. Knowing that there was almost no hope of recovery from this devastating injury even with surgery they gave Bengi some pain medication and brought him in so we could spend our last moments with him and say goodbye before they put him to sleep. My wife and I were totally in shock and grief stricken as it began to sink in that we would not be bringing Bengi home with us. As we were walking out a Staff member I believe her name was Elaine was there to console us with hugs. I cannot emphasize how much the entire staff at this facility helped make one of the worst days of our lives as best as it could be under the circumstances.

My cat had been on-and-off sick for a while before we decided to take him in. Unfortunately it was something serious and he was severely anemic at the time. They were able to give him a blood transfusion and he seems happy as of now. Its just a temporary fix until we get a diagnosis, but they made him happy and back to himself for a while. We told them our budget and they met it. Dr. DeRoin was very helpful and a very nice lady, I thank her for explaining everything so well. We had to come back after going to another vet for follow-up, and the vet said that something was wrong with the blood transfusion, but Dr. DeRoin cleared it up for us and explained it in detail as to why things were done the way they were. The appointment was $70 to go and get my cat looked at, and then it cost us $700 total for the blood transfusion, blood panel test, feline leukemia test, and after-care for the blood transfusion. They were not able to diagnose him at the time, but they made it so he could live until we were able to go to a vet. We were talked through every step and they did not hide any fees from us. I am grateful to have gone to them!
