Usually I dont post one star reviews, actually this is going to my first -and hoping-last one. I had such a bad treatment at heron lakes animal hospital. In January my dog needed leg surgery. Jamie Lee Giannamore, the technician "helped" us preparing for surgery. The past 3 days before surgery we were at the hospital for cast change $541.47 preparing for surgery $163.51 and $74.00 for doctor visit . She said my dog needed to stay overnight after her surgery. She also let me know how much the surgery will cost and I cant use credit card cash only or debit card. Surgery cost $3229.30 I understood! I dropped off my dog and went to work.: Jamie Lee called let me know my dog doing great, however I did not dropped off my pet seizure medication. I asked if I can bring the medication after work ?-since my pet has to stay overnight- She said no one will be here at heron lake animal hospital after 7pm! I was confused why did my pet need to stay overnight???? She offered to take my dog home and also she mentioned how much she used to charge for dog sitting. I had such a bad feeling from this situation and I said that just leave her at the hospital and I will pick up my dog the next day. Basically my dog stayed there unattended after her surgery! Next day I picked up my pet from surgery, paid the $3229.30 with debit card. The vet said we have to come back for bandaid change and 3months for healing process:) TWO MONTHS LATER!I got a voicemail from Jamie Lee Giannamore that she made an error and I owe $70.00 for the hospital. Not one question about how is my dog doing! She called to ask $70.00 From 1/9/17 till 1/13/17 I have spent $4008.28 at heron lakes animal hospital. And she needed $70.00 more 2 moths later! That is why I had to write a one star review! Horrible service, would not recommend..

Recently moved to Parkland, Fl from NYC and was in need of a vet for our cats & dogs. I got 2 recommendations and when I saw the reviews on google for this business I thought to myself they cant be legitimate no one can have over 40 reviews and all of that are 5 stars - so I tried the other vet (hated them so much) the next time I tried Heron Lakes. OMG these reviews are all true - this place is awesome (and i know vets because i have pets with chronic disease that needs constant monitoring). The staff is warming, welcoming, and friendly. The Vet Tech is personable and knowledgeable. The Doctor is caring, educated, and is on top of current trends and medicines for the treatment of cats and dogs. They all took the time to get to know both us (the humans) and our pets. The Doctor doesnt try to over medicate or over test the pets (i dont like tons of testing or vaccines) - the Doctor practices evidence based treatments and understands that no two pets are the same and each one can and does require a personalized care based on that pets lifestyle and response to treatment. I have a total of 6 pets (4 cats & 2 dogs) and all of them will now be cared for by Heron Lakes Animal Hospital

To whom it may concern, My name is Buster Eric Ellis and I would like to share a little about my Doctor(s) and the Staff at Heron Lakes Animal Hospital. My Dads been taking me there since I was a pup and might I say that: "Even as a young boy when nobody there knew me yet, I was always treated with kindness, patience and compassion. Ive always felt so safe and secure the care of my Doctor(s), Abel and Jeff. While the girls, beginning at the Receptionist station greeting us in a friendly, welcoming way, to the Vet Assistant(s) showing me all of the rooms and hallways and such. My Dad brought had first introduced me to Heron Lakes Animal Hospital many years ago after having rescued me from a kill shelter. You might say that I was a bit of a mess at the time and in RUFF shape, but through the warm, capable, constant care of my Doctors, Im happy to howl that: "Im a healthy (young man in a puppys suit) and have been rescuing my Dad ever since". THANK YOU DOCTOR ABEL and THANK YOU DOCTOR JEFF .. and to all of your staff! I love you guys! Yours Truly, Buster Ellis

We took our puppy to Dr. Lera for the first time and it was an amazing experience!! The staff were friendly, showed us around and gave our puppy a treat to occupy him, which actually occuiped him the whole rest of the day too! The doctor was very friendly, knowledgable, explained everything and answered any questions we had. He was with us for a good hour while we talked about everything and you could tell he really has the animals best interest at heart! He went over pet insurance (he even looked up quotes from insurance companies with us and explained the difference between each policy type and we had a question about one so he called the insurance company right with us to find out), flea and tick prevention and the timing of puppy shots. Also, during our puppies exam he had a concern about his teeth and it just happened that Dr. Lera had a dental specalist come in that day for other patients and he asked the specalist to take a look at our puppies teeth to figure it out. Best Vet. office we have ever been to!

Excellent. I have never been to a veterinarian before I got my puppy however I was very impressed with my visit at Heron Lakes Animal Hospital. Dr. Lera spent plenty of time with us and answered all my questions and I didnt feel rushed. Im not sure what most vets are like, but if they are anything like some doctors that I have been to I sometimes get the feeling that they think you are "beneath them" (They are the doctor with the education and know everything and you are the patient and know nothing). I didnt get that feeling at all here and felt very comfortable talking freely with him. He even went as far as writing down all my concerns on paper to make sure we covered everything before I left. I thought that was pretty cool because sometimes you can get off track if there are a lot of issues/questions and miss something. Oh, and not to disregard the staff, they were all great to! Not sure how the rates are compared to others but thought they were very reasonable.

HLAH always takes great care of my pets. They treat them like their own. Dr. Lera is very thorough and we never feel rushed. He explains everything and gives us many options so that we can not only care for our babies in a manner that we are comfortable but that is also in line with the age and demeanor of our pet. A great example of this is when our 14 year old Rat Terrier began developing lumps. We could have put him through all kinds of invasive tests to see if it was cancer but Dr. Lera asked us if we would put him through the treatments if it were. Honestly? No. He is an extremely fearful dog and has been all his life. We would never put him through the anxiety and stress that would go along with chemo etc. because the extra 6 months we would be blessed with would be at his expense. That is what a vet should do. Care more about the animal/family member than the money in his pocket. Thank you Dr. Lera and everyone at HLAH!!!
