Doctor Nick De Pompa & Staff Wed like to thank you Dr. De Pompa and all of the staff at SE Neurology Veterinary Specialist for their kindness, professionalism and dedication to their four legged son . Wed especially like to thank them for their care of Baby our Canine Terrier. The difficult time we were experiencing and desperation we saw him in suddenly fall and was complaining of pain on fathers day, we immediately visited his regular vet and they treated him until we started researching what his preliminary diagnosis was (IVDD) and what specialist in our area Miami Florida specialized in Neurological Conditions. We immediate found SE Vetenirary Neurology group with Dr. NICK DE POMPA and read about them their facility and their reviews from other patient family members. It was after 1am on Friday entering Saturday June 26th and we placed a call to them and immediately someone picked up at that time and explained to us their services and that they could see us immediately that morning once they opened their doors. We brought in Baby to them that particular Saturday June 26th and they immediately took us in examine baby and Dr. De Pompa explained everything and what tests needed to be done. Thereafter we left him for a sedated MRI and Spinal Tab, we felt very confident that they were going to take care of Baby as if he was their own. The staff and physician were very very professional and comforting. We brought Baby home that evening with a treatment plan, we received calls from them late late that evening. They have since followed up and continue to call and reassure us they are there for and us and if we need anything. Having experience in Healthcare and working in one of the US World report nations top Healthcare facility in Florida, I was totally estatic to see this care in animals. We highly recommend them and greatly appreciate all their work and dedication to our four legged family member. Its made us so much more confident that baby will be OK Wed like to thank you Dr. De Pompa and all of the staff at SE Neurology Veterinary Specialist for their kindness, professionalism and dedication to their four legged son . The professionals at Southeast Veterinary Neurology (SEVN) are exemplary in their expertise, kindness, and empathy. My black lab, Meesha, ruptured a spinal disc (IVDD) and within the course of 36 hours lost use of her hindquarters. This was a harrowing experience. I called SEVN and they quickly scheduled her for a same-day evaluation, recognizing that paralysis cases have a limited window for potential recovery. Upon history, physical exam and MRI it was clear that a large tract of her spinal cord had become compressed. Dr. Reese, her head neurologist, predicted that with successful surgery her odds of walking again were 40%. Costs and variable outcomes were discussed and in the end, I had to give her the chance! Dr. Reese whisked her into surgery, while I awaited the outcome. In the meantime, multiple staff of SEVN were available to me for questions. Meeshas surgery was a success--the spinal cord was decompressed--but this by no means meant that she would regain use of her back legs, tail, bladder, etc. Meesha remained at the clinic for several days for post-op evaluations. Twice a day I received a call from SEVN, apprising me of her status. Unfortunately, she showed no signs of movement or sensation in her hindquarters. Then one of the greatest moments came on the second day, when a technician told me he saw her wag her tail! Signals were be conducted through the injured nerves! She might walk again after all! After four days at the clinic it was time to bring Meesha home. I discussed her after-care with her team of neurologists and specialists. Dr. Reese went to get her and carried her out. He set her down and she was able to stand! This much had changed since the last phone call. Now it was a matter of proper care, increasing levels of physical therapy, and Meeshas mental resolve and ability to recover. Were six weeks out of the surgery and Meesha is walking and running again. There were a lot of ups and downs, and there are still improvements to be made, but SEVN gave her the chance to recover and provided a support system to us while we worked on her recovery. I find it hard to imagine what her outcome would have been had we not contacted SEVN and proceeded with them.

Southeast Veterinary Neurology gave my 5 year old Pomeranian Rocky, a chance to a good quality of life. Out of nowhere, he started limping one day and I took him to his vet thinking he had some type of fracture. After a long examination, it turned out that my vet recommended I take him to a Neurologist. I could not even comprehend the idea that there were Neurologists for dogs, not to mention that my Rocky needed to see one and I had no clue what could possibly be wrong .When I took him it turned out that my dog had a slipped disc in his neck. We first tried the medicine approach which did help for a while, and we did that for like 2 months. When the medicine wore out my Rocky would start limping again, and leaning against the wall to hold himself up. The last time I had him on meds, he completely collapsed to his side and could not stand up, that broke my heart into pieces. I felt so hopeless because I did not know what to do and I did not want for him to suffer. At that very moment I was faced with the realization that maybe I would lose my Rocky. It was devastating to see a 5 year old Pomeranian have to go thru this, but the vets and staff at Southeast Veterinary Neurology gave me hope not only are they top of the line experts in their field they are very compassionate and caring. They explained to me how operating Rocky and removing the disc would make him improve about 90%, They gave me the time necessary and the chance to do my research and see if we can be able to save him thru other means like medicine, but that was not the case, once I saw that there was no other way, I immediately scheduled his surgery, and as scared as I was, I do not regret it for a second, in fact the only regret I could have, is not having done it sooner. Its only been a month, and he is doing fantastic, and in the next 4-6 weeks, he will be back to normal. He is back to being the active, sweet, and happy dog that he has always been. Thanks so much for saving my dog, its the best money spent.
