I saw nurse Mayda who told me assertively that I did not need malaria vaccine for SE Asia... Mind you, she looked through my whole itinerary and knew I was going when it would be mosquito season : summer, humidity, heat and rain. Id be in Thailand, the Philippines, Indonesia, and Cambodia for a MONTH. After I was taken aback and told her that my family friend who graduated Harvard Medical said I definitely needed malaria vaccine no question asked, she abruptly said no, you dont need it. I couldnt even get a word in to question her practice because at that point she was straight up being rude making me feel foolish and a nuisance to her for even asking. I mean, this is my life at risk, no exaggeration. Malaria kills. She should have been more understanding and well, PRESCRIBE THE MALARIA VACCINE. I feel so foolish for believing her and turning down the most necessary vaccine for these 4 countries. My 4 friends who all saw different doctors couldnt believe that this nurse said I didnt need it and now are afraid if something happens to me during the trip, as ALL their doctors without a doubt prescribed it. On top of that, I called to make an appointment to come back in though its out my way, and they want to charge me another fee for coming in though its THEIR fault I have to?....
