Ive been going to Bascom Palmer in both Palm Beach Gardens and Miami for several years since a sebaceous cell carcinoma was surgically removed from the inside of my eyelid by Dr. Thomas Johnson. He is a wonderful doctor and surgeon with a dynamite personality. Extremely thorough, caring and professional. BPI has consistently been rated the premier eye institute in the U.S. And its a well deserved reputation. The only downside, as others have reported, is the wait time. Could be 3-4 hours but this includes seeing several staff members for various tests, consultations, etc. The results and expert care are certainly well worth the wait. A bonus is the free coffee/cappuccino, hot chocolate machines they have there. Just bring some snacks to go with it!

While they have a top notch group of Eye Doctors, their services leave a lot to be desired. We were prepared to spend 4+ hours for the initial visit, because they told us this would be the case, but I thought that meant that youd be seen and tests would be performed during this period, not the case! 3-4 hour drive across Florida, 1pm appointment, finally seen by doctor only to be told that they cannot help you, but they could run some tests, but oh, wait a minute, its after 5pm and everyone else has gone home so no answers, no tests, and coming back for another appointment in two weeks as doctor indicated turned out to be 2 Months according to Schedulers? Definitely NOT the Mayo Clinic, which is where Im heading next time!

This place solved my wifes vision problems. She was about to go blind and crazy because we went all over the country and nobody could figure out her issue. Then she saw Dr. Koo and she has been cured. To those of you that complain about the wait times, I can only imagine your vision issues were not serious. We went to a lot of offices where they got you in and out in a hurry, but they all missed the issue Dr. Koo found. I guess the others were too worried about being punctual, where this place was more worried about finding a cure. Sure we have to wait quite a bit on most visits, but when we go here, its the last place we have to go because they solve vision problems.

I have been to BP Miami and had surgery there twice in 2012. Loved the excellent care I received but agree wait test to see a Dr is ridiculous. Every single appt you have to see 4-5 different people and wait in betwrrn. They need to figure out a better way to do this. Especially if you just need to see the Dr. I have also been seen at the Palm Beach location. Again wait times there are just as long. Recommend bringing food, drinks and chargers. Im usually there 4+ hrs each time!! But they are #1 in the world for Opthamology so its worth it. Ive had 15 eye surgeries elsewhere and BP had it all fixed in 2 surgeries. So its worth every minute of waiting!

I waited and waited to see the Dr. I was told that the paper work I recd said 2 to 4 hour wait was standard. Who the hell do they think they are? 2 to 4 hours to see some smuck Dr with no real credentials. There living on their press clippings!!! They should be ashamed of them selves. Most of the patients I saw were elderly some in wheel chairs. After all this abuse they haunt you for donations. Give me a break!! Your service stinks!!! NOTE: The wait is a red flag that they dont know what there doing...

Got there 10 minutes prior to appointment. Taken immediately. forms were filled out prior to exam so just had to fill out HIPA forms. Had initial visit with Tech Cheryl .she spent about an hour with me ,very thorough. then met Dr Ruiz . she spent another 30 minutes and was totally knowledgeable and answered all my questions. Best part ..her last statement was be careful driving...your eyes are still dilated...very happy will return for next years visit.

Dr. Fortun didnt waste anytime to schedule my surgery immediately, once he completed the examine. Guess my timing was good compared to others, because my wait times were very short for all 3 visits to Bascom Palmer Institute & everyone that works there is very friendly. Im very fortunate to live so close to one of the best Eye Institutes in the country.

Doctors are never on time!! Up to 3 hours late from appointment time!! Has to be the worst waiting time in USA!! Why are they ranked #1??? Nothing has changed after almost a year (6/17) worst time management Ive seen! Takes a minimum of 3 hours for a visual test and Drs visit! I like the Doctor but this ridiculous!!

The very best medical eye clinic I have ever attended in all my 89 years. The personnel are very pleasant and cant do enough to please. The doctors that have taken care of me are great. I use the plantation facility. Have used Miami also. Thank you Philip Tekel

Horrible have spent hours upon hours here with multiple clients and family members. Nurses are rude, Drs ate rushed. The last visit took 5 hours!!!! As a care provider if I hear bascom Palmer appointment, I cringe...and pack a lunch.

They are pretty expensive but they are great at what they do. They also take most forms of insurance including Medicaid. I am currently seeing them in preparation to have surgery on my eyelid for issues resulting after a major stroke

One of the best eye clinics in the U.S. I am grateful I can get this level of care and dont mind waiting if my doctor has to rush into emergency surgery. That could be me someday.

Typical UM experience of l-o-n-g waiting. The are not concerned with the patient. 3 hrs and still waiting. Unless you absolutely need them. ..go elsewhere!
