The night staff working there are not personable and had a demeanor like me being there was disrupting them from sitting at their desks taking to one another. Im a nurse from MN, familiar w/hospital& healthcare setting and know how a professional health care employee should treat patients. I work for a doctor who was recommending a simple bacterial/ viral culture on my face. Not just some chick who came to a crappy Florida hospital bc some doctor I talked to on the phone that i used to work for told me to come to the ER. I dont think talking loudly about a pt while giving the doc background info is really appropriate/respectful. Honestly speak a little quieter, have some decency & respect for people you dont know. In addition to feeling like the freak show & having 3 staff ask why youre here & they probably cant help me- the staff never told me their names/titles, I had to ask the doctor who he was. He looked insecure & like he already didnt know what to do not want to deal with my case. The worst thing is asking a professional for their help & them making it clear they dont want to & will not. Please dont lecture me on infection when I didnt see you foam in or out or ever wash your hands once. You may want to think about how you appear & come off to your patients before questioning them about their employer choices & who their doctor is. The guy I work for is professional, confident, empathetic, knowledgeable, resourceful person with over 26 years of experience who actually will go out of his way to help his patients. This hospital was none of the above and the doctor was belittling, had poor bedside manner, little to no eye contact, he never examined me or touched my face and was more focused on why I was in Florida and that my doctor and boss let me come down here with such a high pulse and bp. I told them I have hyperthyroidism & Graves disease & my TSH labs have been off but improving and my endocrinologist is aware of the high bp & pulse & its being managed, has been higher in the past, I feel fine, and she was not concerned enough to out me back on atenolol. Being in pain for a month, spending half your days bandaging your face, the side effects from multiple past tx,$ spent on rxs, washes, wound care supplies, then having "health care professionals" not listen to you, never touch/examine you and the be told you are wasting their time is ridiculous & asinine. I went in for help & left with a lower self esteem, more self consciousness $ little hope for my face. The most appalling part of the situation is Im asking for a simple culture or to at least to tell my story & doc says well I would be more concerned about your pulse/ bp. Really guy!? I told him that is completely aside the point of why I came in & I offered to show him photos & tell him the story of how it all started & progressed. He looks at me & says no Im doing labs, I told him I just had labs wed @ will show him the results. Then he turns to me & says have you been drinking? Are you on drugs? When I said no he dismissed it & said that he has other actual emergencies to deal with & he needs to take care of people who actually need the help & he doesnt see how something that has lasted a month is an emergency. He said hell be back after dealing with real patients, I then watched him walk over to his desk & sit there doing nothing!! The entire time lecturing me & not doing your job took more time than performing the cultures. Then a nurse came in tossed a urine cup on the bed saying "we need you to Pee In a cup". What!? Like your going to drug test me & not even tell me why you want to check my urine. Thats absolutely ridiculous & rude. I stood up ripped the bp & finger monitor off asking for my discharge paperwork. Thank you for making me feel hopeless & not doing something so simple & easy. I sincerely hope you learn how to treat your next patients & dont ever get sick like me where you need to depend on such awful human beings.

I would give them a negative if the site would have let me!! Just got off the phone with the collection agency again...told them the same thing I do every time!! My stay was HORRIBLE!! the only nice in all of it was my nite nurse she was sweet as can be, very helpful, brought me a little bath kit after the 3rd day your really feeling ugghh!! And she tried to make me feel better I couldnt sleep at night the only sleep I was getting was the occasional 1/2 nap or so right after hitting the pain med drip. Because I had ROACHES in my room!! Yes I did and I am extremely big aphobic...I hate bugs so I could not sleep.. I called the nurse she took her time getting to me as when she did 2 of them came and she said I didnt understand you you have what in you room and I told her and they just laughed.... they LAUGHED really its funny, Im suppose to be in a sterile atmosphere right??? She saw a couple run she said what do you want us to do?? Um.... how many years of school did you go through??? Get rid of them, move me thats 2 suggestions!!! I was sooo post it took 6 hours for someone from maintenance to show up!!! After I left I wrote to corporate and guess what... NEVER HEARD A WORD BACK!! Im surprised but then Im not... Im very irritated.. you know I wrote them that I never got a breakdown of charges billed to the insurance co and myself the first bill I got from them was one for collections... that pissed me off..my stay was horrible, I think I felt worse when I left than when I went in for my surgery and thats saying a lot!! I seriously thought About suing their asses but Ive just never been that type of person but then Im always the one that gets taken advantage of because of it.. one of these days Im gonna get tired of it and say enough is enough and someone is gonna be surprised!! If you have a choice of another hospital even if its 20 miles further out and its not an emergency go there!!! You wont be disappointed!! Take care...god bless!!

I have spent much of my life in and out of hospitals, so I know a lot about them. I live in Alabama, but was sent, for the first time, to Palms Of Pasadena back in 1989 to get a BCIR. I spent a month in here that time and have been back 5 other times with stays ranging from 1 week to 4 weeks. I am usually by myself, yet I have never felt alone. The entire staff here is so kind and understanding that they make you feel as if you are practically at home. (as close as you can get under the circumstances) The nurses have always been so WONDERFUL!! But, it isnt JUST the nurses and doctors. Even the technicians that perform your tests, the janitorial staff, and the kitchen workers are FANTASTIC! I went back for surgery a couple of years ago and there were 2 nurses in the operating room that actually remembered me from my first surgery back in 1989. I was having a lot of trouble eating after my surgery, and someone from the kitchen would call me and ask me before they sent up the trays if I could think of something I wanted to eat. Once I said I wanted some cookies. She cooked me an entire batch of chocolate chip cookies and sent them to my room!!!! I had cookies for days!! (and enough to share with all my nurses) Once I was nervous about my surgery, and my nurses aide (who is now a tech in the GI Lab) went with me to the O.R. and stayed until they sedated me so that I wouldnt feel alone. (Thanks Mike) Staff members would always ask me if I needed anything before they would leave work, and if I needed something, they would bring it the next day when they came in. They always understood that I didnt have anyone to go and pick things up for me. If Dr Rhenke is your doctor, you have a winner there too. He is a really sweet man and a great doctor! I cant say that I have ever had another hospital treat me with such kindness and compassion! Thanks to all of you that work here!!
