Veterans stay away from this facility YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED! This facility the fourth busiest in the nation is horrible and a disgrace to veterans given how they mistreat veterans and get away with doing that. My experiences dealing with this facility is that you got good employees here but also a lot of bad ones that get away with crime and leadership here does nothing about it. Doctors recommend medical care the appeals got denied for service connected wounds later to be approved only 49 months post retirement from the service from the Navy. Took 49 months to get pain management as actual treatment for my my condition it worsened from stage I to stage III CRPS. This facility even could not help myself with prosthetic needs and as the veteran I had to pay out of pocket for my mobility cited the Washington Times as the Tampa Bay Times articles. Speaking out in the news media came with retalliation against myself. Even after giving the facility the benefit of the doubt to do the right thing still prosthetic requests are not honored. This facility will not even honor its own issued prosthetic cards for when your prosthetic breaks again paid out of pocket after the news articles. There is no accountability at this VA and ICARE lacks entirely! A chief employee can falsify your medical record to state you have "no right leg atrophy" when clearly is a difference when making request to correct the medical record nothing changes you take the complaint to patient advocate as the hospital director even to Congress it goes no where!!! On YouTube documents that I followed up with this matter at the VA Town Hall meeting nothing got done again, and again! Congress did nothing about it nor the OIG. I was told to file a FTCA federal tort claim SF-95 against the facility for medical malpractice even by Suzzane Klinker by the Hospital Director this facility got away with that through the Court who denied jurisdiction however the law is clear upon such matter being shown in 28 U.S.C. Section 1346(b)(1) where exclusive jurisdiction is reserved to the District Courts. Federal judges up to the Florida Middle District Chief Judge had wrongly denied jurisdiction and actually aided and abetting wrongful act as crimes of the VA against veterans from this very facility see Derek Peeples v. United States 8:16-cv-00528. Since this facility can get away with medical malpractice as crime as labeling acts benefits under the Veterans Judicial Review Act essentially any act committed against veterans on VA property this facility as other VAs will get away with it all. NEVER AGAIN USE THE VA! Time is overdue for the SWAMP at BAY PINES to drain. EMPLOYEES NEED TO BE DOING JAIL TIME! Time is due for privatization of the VA. Government ran healthcare has killed too many veterans and injured too many veterans trust is lost too many veterans have been failed. 307,000 plus veterans died under VA enrollment scandal and VETERANS you think you want to use the VA? Know who actually cares for you! VETERANS YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED! - Derek G. Peeples, United States Navy Retired

When I hear the V.A. bashing going on, I often wonder, have those folks ever been to Bay Pines? It is a very busy hospital and while procedures must be followed, I found all employees reasonable. Grace S in the Champus Dept will take all the mystery away for you with insurance, their hospice section is simply from heaven, their long term in-house senior veteran care centers are better than I have experienced anywhere at any cost. I talk to Vets who are upset, but then I find that they show up without documentation, a keen sense of entitlement and expecting immediate results that they can neither afford or obtain if they could, outside the V.A. health program. I have been retired since 1998 and while it took ten years for me to complete my V.A. package, it was the failure of active duty medical record detail and not the V.A. that was the problem. Active duty records are a personal responsibility, and the efforts given there are to save your life first and record as time allows, I have no fault with that process either. My advice to active duty folks is to ensure you can read and understand the reporting on medical records. While young, simple injuries seem insignificant, as we age, they awaken with a vengeance.

10 years past my 7 years of active duty service, I have been a patient at three other VA healthcare systems. In my 10 years, I NEVER had one complaint! This hospital, is an absolute joke. They have made my issues worse, lied to me, manipulated me, canceled my apointments, drug out getting my apointments and on and on and on. Staying on top of this hopsital, is a FULLTIME job. The worse is that this hopsital, alone, has made some of issues worse in a great deal! Call the hospital and push "0" for the operator, now watch the clock on your phone start adding up. Sometimes it has taken over 20 minutes to even get a call answered by the operator there. Head my warning - go somewhere else for your medical care like in Tampa. ABSOLUTE WORSE VA HOSPITAL I HAVE EVER BEEN TO IN 10 YEARS.

My husband has been involved with VA Bay Pines since 2006. He, we have no complaints - only compliments to the entire Staff, Volunteers and other Vets we have met thru the years. He has been treated with the utmost respect and dignity that all Vets and active Military should have. We are so grateful to VA Bay Pines for all they have done for him. We have a favorite in the ENT department and many favorites in the Hematology/Oncology Department. Also the Lab and Infusion Lab. Thank you for a beautiful facility. Thank you for treating those who have and are serving for the freedom we enjoy everyday. We feel very Blessed to have VA Bay Pines so close and readily available to us. Keep doing what your doing...it is working for us! Thank you. The Russos

Came in to the ID card section to fix my ID. As I was walking up the to desk, a few minutes before 3pm ...he started to shake his head like he wasnt please that a new client came in...and it looks as if was about to get off. He told me to take a number in which I did. Number I took was 225 and on the screen it showever 217. He got off at 3pm as suspected. Waited for 25 minutes and take in mind that there was no one around behind or ahead of me. I spoke to the new person at the desk and asked him what was going on. I kindly told him that I have been waiting for sometime now. Also asked him what was going on. Well came to find out that the first person did not inform anyone that there was a client (me) in the waiting room. That person should not be working there. ...

This VA Hospital was the best VA Hospital Ive been to. The staff were quick in responding as well as comforting and polite. I was visiting my Mom in Sebring Florida and was having chest pains along with shortness of breath. Also developed a mass under my chin. I was seen in the emergency room on February 8th and admitted. I stayed 4 days . I only wish My VA staff at Dorn VA in Columbia SC. Was as polite and helpful. While I was there , I joked with the staff and stated that I wish they could come to my VA and teach them what respect and politeness is. Thank you to all the staff from the ER room and the floor I was on, Cardiology and the ENT department . If I had 4 thumbs you would get them up. God bless and keep up the GREAT WORK.
