Ive had three different therapists through Burrell and have not had good experiences with any of them. Two of them were obviously uncomfortable with my sexuality as a queer woman. When I explained my concerns with coming out to my family, the first therapist talked to me about how conversion therapy was no longer practiced. Yeah... no kidding. A therapists office is the last place I needed to be shamed about who I am. The next lady I had told me to combat my depression by doing things that make me happy when Im not depressed. Then proceeded to tell me that she didnt care if I took her advice or not since its "not her life." Thats a great thing to tell someone with PTSD from emotional trauma that is triggered my rejection. She then moved out of state and didnt tell me about it until three days before she was leaving. It took about two months to get into the third therapist that she referred me to. The third therapist told me that I may begin to like men more (romantically) if we dealt with the issues I have with my father. I just looove being treated like my sexuality is a symptom of my mental illness... I decided to try giving number three a chance even after that little gem. Unfortunately I was unable to make it to an appointment. Then I got anxiety about going to the next appointment and missed that too. She then sent a letter saying that all my appointments were cancelled and to call in if I wanted to reschedule, which I tried to do. I was rerouted four times before I got to her office. Then was rerouted again after someone tried to schedule me only to be told that my file was closed and I would have to see a new therapist. I called the referral office to get an appointment with a new doctor and was told that I would have to wait TWO MORE MONTHS to see anyone. Thats just fabulous since Im having suicidal ideation and the impulse to self harm is getting harder to ignore every day. Honestly, I feel more alone and hopeless now than I did before I ever began my journey with Burrell. If you can go anywhere else, I would.

Unfortunately I have to give one star to write a review so there is the reasoning for the one star. I am extremely disappointed in the psychological assessor Candace, she was nothing but opinionated, degrading, and critical of my story and my explanations on my own mental health. She asks assessment questions and demands an A or B answer; if you try to give reasoning behind your answer, or dont choose A or B she gets frustrated and will state her opinion on whether or not you have the disorder that you are seeking help for. At one point she put her hands up to her forehead and said that shes getting a little frustrated because shes having a difficult time communicating with me. I was surprised that a statement like that would come from someone with 2 doctorate degrees in psychology hanging on her office wall. For some reason, I thought psychologists excelled at understanding the human mind and thought process. She then typed away a summary of her thoughts on the "assessment" for 10-15 minutes without saying a word, and then told me the soonest appointment would be three months from now. I expressed my concern for such a long wait on receiving help with my mental disorder, and she said that thats just how it is. I agreed to see what the soonest appointment date would be and when we walked up to the front desk, she told the receptionist to schedule me to see a psychiatrist, but "not Dr. Smith". I asked the receptionist if Dr. Smith wasnt a good psychiatrist, to which she replied yes. I asked if he was available to see patients sooner than the others, because he apparently has someone blocking his new clientele. She told me no, hes booked up as well. Sorry Dr. Smith. I will not be returning to Burrell again.

I have always had a wonderful response from all staff at Burrell. My physician is one of the most pleasant and professional I have ever been to. My experience is that they are indeed a responsive, caring group of people dealing with a wide variety of situations and patients. I look forward to my appointments there and often arrive early to have a walk in their lovely setting if weather allows. I wouldnt want to go anywhere else.

Set up an appointment back in April for the middle of August because thats the soonest they could see me. Then 5 days before the appointment my doctor decided he would take that day off. Now my appointment is being set back another two months! This is ridiculous. Lady I talked to on the phone wasnt the least bit sorry, actually she was emotionless about it.

Nurse by the name of Stephanie is rude and nasty to everyone has such an attitude and a big chip on her shoulder I wouldnt take my dog there to be treated if she is in the building just an overall nasty person go to Mercy Health youre better off and in better hands

The upper management of this place is an absolute joke. They dont have phone numbers and what numbers they do have they dont give out. The upper management are extremely unprofessional and dont care about the customers. Never setting my foot in this building again.
