I have been taking my dog to Sunshine for a few years now. All in all the staff is pretty good. The cost is somewhat high though and I do find myself hitting one of those "oh damn" financial moments every time they hand me a bill. In all honesty I have only had one problem with them recently: My dog had a yeast infection in his ear and I brought him in the first time and received treatment and medication for him. I was also told by the Dr. himself that he wanted me to come back in ten days so he could check my pet out at no charge whatsoever. Nine days later I get my pet back in there and he gets treated. During the visit the Dr. read on my pets chart aloud that there was no charge for this visit and then makes some sarcastic comment about how I didnt come back ( I obviously took it as a joke and gave him a courtesy laugh ) I reached the front desk after the visit only to find a $103 bill waiting for me! Thats just a tad bit expensive for a free check up and some alcohol based ear wash in my opinion ( I almost wanted to ask them to give me the dirty q-tip back so I could throw it away myself and save the 3 bucks). Lets just say I barely made my rent that month and will be finding a new vet as this one is way too far out of my way to justify the cost. I also just found out that the medicine he prescribed for my dog has a side effect of making your pet go deaf that he never mentioned. Wonderful. All in all they are good with your animals, but not really on your pocketbook in these hard economic times. If you do happen to go though, Dr. Bary is the one to see. Hes the one youll want.

I came home from work to find my dog is significant discomfort. I just moved to the area and did not have a primary vet. I called a neighbor who uses Sunshine and was given their #. I called at 5:55 pm (they close at 6 pm) and thankfully someone answered. We discussed the situation and was provided with contact info for 24 hour emergency care if needed (thankfully it was not). They were able to get my dog in the next morning (after scheduled surgeries). They completed a full exam including Xrays, all necessary shots, etc. and the Dr. spent as much time as necessary to explain where the discomfort was coming from, provided meds to be used if needed, and answered any questions I had. I found ALL of the staff to be very friendly, caring and interested in the well being of my dog. I dont know what I expected the cost to be, it wasnt cheap, but it was probably in line with the industry. But for first rate service and being provided with a clear plan of care, in my mind it is worth it. Sunshine will be my Vet going forward. Thank you!

By far the best vet. Dr. Mark went above and beyond to save our "therapy puppy" when she came down with a rare strain of kennel cough. He stayed late and even transported her himself to the emergency vet for the night because she needed 24 hour care. Even though she was almost out of options Dr. Mark did not give up and he saved her life. This is not the first time Dr. Mark has saved the life of one of my pets. I have only had the pleasure of working with Dr. Barry one time but he is brilliant as well. The staff is very patient and professional and truly care about our fur babies!! Vet care is always costly but Sunshine is very reasonable for the level of care received!! Keep up the good work!!

We have been bringing our pets to Sunshine for several years now, after having been referred by a reputable kennel. I have lived in many places, from Florida to California, and Drs Twilla and Barry are the finest and most caring veterinarians I have ever worked with. The staff, starting with Randy, are much like the doctors who set the pace. If you are looking for excellent doctors who charge very reasonable fees, then I strongly suggest to entrust your pets to these folks. If there was a 10 Star rating then thats what Sunshine would have received from us. Thank you all for the way you have cared for Beanie, Chloe, DeeDee and Mewcat(Dusty) Dan and Carrie Murphy

Initially found Dr. Twilla and Sunshine Animal Hospital because my cat of 19 years had decided that it was time to pass-on. Staff was compassionate and performed the euthanasia procedure as a courtesy and they helped facilitate the cremation and urn for my cats remains. Since 2009, Ive gone from having 1 cat to 3 cats and 2 dogs. While I dont take them to SAH for annual vaccinations, any medical problems (like when my dog got pregnant or my cat nearly died from an obstruction in her esophagus) have been expertly dealt with by Dr. Twilla and the staff. No surprises. Services are reasonable and an estimate is always provided prior to anything being done.

Unfortunately my elderly dog needed to be euthanized. My vet of 13 years was closed for the holiday and I did not want my dog to suffer anymore so I called Sunshine who was open, I arrived, already stressed over the thought of losing my pet, they had failed to write down the information I had already gone over with them on the phone. So I had to redo all the paperwork. Now a month later they send an advertisement via mail to protect my dog with a medicine they sell showing their return name/address. How insensitive of them to sell or give my personal information to a vendor considering I no longer have the dog. Avoid this practice.

Starting with the finest Vets, Drs Mark Twilla and Jim Barrie are the best! Caring, thorough and great about explaining your pets diagnosis and treatment options. And their entire staff - are also excellent and very caring and obviously love what they do - we appreciate each of them so much!. Weve had two generations of pups with quite of range of health issues and were very thankful for the amazing care that they have provided our former pets and currently for our Border Collie, Scout and Border Collie Mix, Cookie, who absolutely love their caregivers at Sunshine - thank you all so much!

I had my cat skid of 7 years euthanized here on March 29th 2017. His bladder exploded and he needed emergency surgery would cost $5,000 that I couldnt afford. The doctors there was very nice and kind and considerate and were grieving with me. The pictures of skid I took three minutes after he was put to sleep. I miss him dearly but hes no longer in pain and hes in a better place at Pinellas Park pet cemetery in the scatter Garden I had him cremated and his ashes scattered there

Dr. Mark Twilla and the staff of Sunshine Animal Hospital are wonderful. They provide excellent care and quick response when needed. Dr. Twillas passion for what he does and compassion for all animals is evident in his care of my animals. Well visits and emergencies are handled quickly with precise, directions on what to do for the proper care of my pets. I highly recommend!
