I would like to give my opinion of Pet Plex Animal Hospital and Dr. Doug Poorman and staff. I have been using Pet Plex for over 10 years. We have had two dogs, a beagle-mix (age 18) and a mini-dachshund (age 4). I have never had a bad experience with Pet Plex. On the contrary, Dr. Doug is the most caring vet I have ever encountered. On one occasion, I called on July 4th because my beagle had swallowed a chicken leg whole (inhaled it like a vacuum!). I was scared to death for her and when I called, Dr. Doug answered personally, talked me through it, and put my mind at ease. He has always given me honest answers when I ask questions about treatment options available and the associated costs, and I never feel like he is trying to "upsell" me. I have also called him late in the night when our beagle, who had pancreatitis and had begun to have night seizures, was having a spell and he offered to meet me at the clinic to see her (it was probably 2:00AM). Now, some vets would offer but you would "hear" in their voice that they really didnt want to come. Not so with Dr. Doug. Most recently, we had to make the very difficult decision to help our beagle Scrapper cross the "rainbow bridge". Dr. Doug was available to talk with me via phone to help me know what, and when was the right time. After several more months, when that time came, the staff was very caring and sensitive to us as a family about to lose a loved one, and extremely supportive. We havent lived near Buckeye Lake for close to eight years, but I will sum all my ramblings up by saying that I would never take my animals to anyone else but Dr. Doug Poorman and the wonderful people at Pet Plex because they are the "best" in my opinion. Dr. Doug is not in this for the money folks....from experience, I tell you that he does this because he truly loves animals and sincerely wants to help them.

My mother took our dog Riley to your office around 9pm on October 15, 2015. I am very disappointed to hear that Douglas M. Poorman who is the owner of the practice was incredibly rude to my family and was more worried about getting his payment than actually trying to take care of my dog. He did not do anything he should have done to help the dog. They had been there 15 minutes before even looking at Riley. He did not give him an IV, he did not place him on a heating pad to keep his body temperature constant, he did not do anything to keep him hydrated. Then he falsely accused my mother of unsanitary and unethical pet keeping. He did NOT give us the option to put the dog down as were afraid he will not make it through the night. He told us that if the pet survives, he will NOT give it back to us and will find a more suitable home for him. I AM VERY UPSET about this whole visit. He was more worried about getting paid his money than saving the dogs life. He spent over an hour arguing with my mom and her friend about money instead of keeping an eye on Riley. I will be calling the appropriate personnel in the morning to report him for malpractice. This is an extremely upsetting experience with someone who is supposed to save animal lives instead of filling his bank account. It is safe to say I will never return to your facility as long as I live.

The feedback to the services I have received from the Pet Plex Animal Hospital in Buckeye Lake Ohio. I have recently brought my cat in because he is defecating and urinating outside of the litter box and has chronic diarrhea . I have spend over $300 so far to get this problem resolved and still the problem is continuing to happen. I have brought the cat in twice and brought feces in 2 different times. My cat was prescribed medicine and that medicine failed to help my cat in any way. When I brought this problem to their attention, they prescribed the same medicine to my cat again only in a higher dose and changed his food, which of course didnt work. My cat is still having diarrhea and going outside of the litter box and I feel robbed by Pet Plex for over $300. I received a follow up phone call for my cat for the first visit and medications prescribed, but no follow up call to see if he is any better since the last time I was there. In conclusion, I have not had a pleasant experience with this establishment.

These people are horrible. Please, if you care about your pets do not bring them here. My two dogs got into a horrible fight and my boxer pit bull mix had a horrible gash on the side of her chest. We took her to petplex because weve heard good things about the hospital. The gash was about 6 inches long and they gave her 3 stitches and half a pill of ibuprofen. Needless to say, the stitches popped out within the next day and we took her back to see what could be done. They refused to help us. The people were snobby and mean because we dont have all the money in the world. After refusing to restitch my dog, they charged us 50 dollars to wrap her with gauze. All of this cost about 800 dollars and it didnt even work. People called the police on my family and I saying that we are neglecting our dog, in reality it was the petplex services. Please do not take your beloved animals here.

I took my cat in last weekend. The care didnt seem too bad, but I assumed everything they said was accurate (wouldnt know any different). I was told that he had to spend 2-5 days there to recover. A couple of hours after leaving, I received a phone call from them stating that my cat unfortunately did not make it due to some difficulties. I had to make the devastating call to inform my husband. My husband went to pick our cat up; the women at the front desk did not apologize, nor say any kind words, sadly, the first words out of her mouth were about how he would be paying. Of all people, an animal hospital should know how difficult it is to lose a family pet. It seemed as if money was the only thing they were concerned about, which is why I only gave them the 1 star.

I found PetPlex a few years ago when searching for a new vet. I had unacceptable experiences with other vets near me and their prices were ridiculously high. PetPlex is a longer drive for me, but well worth it. Their prices are very reasonable and they go above and beyond. Ive had to have two cats put to sleep...a stray with leukemia and an older cat of mine. They were compassionate during the process and gave me a keepsake for each cat which was the cats paw print on a plaque with the cats name spelled out with alphabet beads. Now I drive past at least 8 vet clinics every time I visit PetPlex and am happy to do so because I pay reasonable prices to get better care for my pets.

Thank you so much for the professional care you gave to our dog, Bandit. We had to bring him in because he just wasnt himself. He had been eating clothes, throwing up and having accidents in the house. This was NOT normal for him. Our regular vet told us to give you a call because surgery might be needed. You got Bandit in right away! The vet explained every thing that they were going to do and were very sympathetic towards us. The tests were done right away and before I knew it, we were on our way home knowing Bandit was going to be ok - no surgery needed! WHEW! Thank you so much for your help!!!
