As a pediatric nurse I am very understanding to the behavior of children and how difficult appointments can be when the children are anxious or nervous and acting out because they are scared. I took my daughter in this morning for a filling of her front tooth that was chipped during a fall at school. She was anxious so she was fidgety. They informed me that they were going to use the nitrous oxide to take the edge off a bit. She was never given a chance to calm down. We were rushed. A wedge was used to hold her mouth open. It was obvious the wedge was too big and the dentist even asked for a smaller one but the assistant assured her it fit that my child just needed to open her mouth. She spit it out and upon doing so she bit down on the dentist’s finger. The dentist screamed like a child and became irate. I am sure it hurt, I am also sure its not the first time. The assistant begins to lecture my child on not biting anyone ever. IT WAS NOT INTENTIONAL! She was trying to get the wedge that was making her gag out of her mouth! At that time an assistant from another room interrupts our appointment to let the dentist know she was ready for her next door. RUDE! After the appointment the dentist sits my child up and lets her know that had she breathed correctly into the "nose" they put on her it would have worked. She asked her what she didnt like that it was a fairly easy appointment. She said she didnt like the water splashing her in the face. The dentist said well we have to use that or the tooth would heat up. Yes, where as I am aware of why it is used I am unsure why you are questioning my 5 year old on what her problem was! Again, she is 5! The treatment rooms were filthy around the bottoms of the chairs, Hipaa was violated by leaving an open schedule up in the rooms for all to see, the consent forms for treatment were given to me to sign after the appointment and the front desk smelled like body odor. I will never take my child nor refer another patient from our pediatric office there again.

Horrible is the only word to describe it, the service the first day was ok they were mildly prepared to attend to the needs of me and other customers. Visit 1) I arrived to have a root canal, my appointment was set for 10:30 am, we arrived at 10:00am and I was in the dentist chair by 10:25, but was not seen untill 11:30 am. During this root canal I was barely numbed as I had stated to the dentist and his assistant multiple times, as if my words ment nothing he proceeded with the root canal. While in the middle of this operation I had yet again attempted to announce that I wasnt numb.the fact is I have been unnumb before for minor cavities, but to have a root canal on an unnumb tooth is pure Insanity. After this appointment i was in able to eat for a total of 3 days. Visit 2) As before I arrived half an hour early to my appointment when we arrived the staff at the front desk had lost my chart and proceeded to look for it, and just as before I sat in the dentist chair for yet another hour, he yet again attempted to numb me and failed just as before as I proceeded to tell him that I was not numb he proceeded to grind away my tooth to fit the crown. While doing this he was using a grinder wheel when he slipped, he then proceeded to blame me for his mistake and failed to mention that he had flayed the lower portion of my tounge to my mother which was at most 5 feet away, she had not realized what had happened till after the appointment was over. As well as the first procedure I was unable to eat anthing but unpuraid food for a total of 7 days. The above statement is to my knowledge the whole truth and nothing but the truth, in this I give Kool Smiles a 0-5 for their service and performance as a dental facility. I am unsure of the dentists name and the staff on the day of my visit. But in light of this the the point remains the same I will not be returning to Kool Smiles ever again, Nor will I ever recommend this facility to anyone to whom I am aquanted.

Horrifying Experience!!! Went in for what I was told would be two simply cavity fillings. I am new to the area and Kool Smiles was the first dentist I found so I thought I would give them a chance as the location was convenient. My cleaning went reasonably ok. Told I have two superficial cavities so made an appt. to come back two weeks later. At the second appt., the dentist comes in 20 minutes after scheduled appt. and tells the staff - NOT ME - that I have actually 4 cavities and one is so deep that I will likely need a root canal. I tried to question the dentist as this seemed crazy to me that I went from two simple cavities to needing a root canal. The dentist would not give me a straight answer but instead mumbled something I couldnt hear about cavities. The dentist then proceeded to talk about her weekend plans with the staff while shoving spacers in my mouth. I have never had a bad dental experience until this one. The dentist drilled in my mouth for what seemed like forever (about 45 minutes). I thought to myself that I wouldnt have any tooth left. When she finally let me up I refused to schedule any follow up appointments with the office - as the dentist had not even filled one of the two original cavities I was said to have. When I got home - I found that my tooth had been drilled down to basically nothing and my inner cheek had been cut by the spacer the dentist jammed in my mouth. This dentist refused to inform me what was going on and was not at all gentle. I will never ever go back to Kool Smiles. I now need another dentist to fix the mess she left on a tooth that I had NEVER had a problem with prior to her hack job. The only good thing about Kool Smiles is the reception and hygienist staff. Both are extremely nice and friendly. The dentists are THE WORST.

Honestly,I was truly upset with and let down after my appointment here! I hadnt been to a dentist in about six years prior to seeing a dentist at Kool Smiles,I came to them with severe pain while eating, talking, sleeping, etc that wasnt controlled by the 800mg ibupro I was taking for the past 3 weeks before going to my appointment.Pain that made me break down and see a doctor at the urgent care here, and being told that "You have an abcess prob, our clinic doesnt prescribe pain medicine so I highly recommend you going to the E.R because it is going to continue causing you pain".Was given antibiotics and sent on my way.I didnt go to E.R because to me,E.R is for EMERGENCIES and though I WAS in a lot of pain, didnt feel right asking for pain meds at an E.R. I told the dentist at Kool Smiles all of this after she diagnosed me saying,"You need a root canal and management for tmj",yet she only grilled me about how she "Couldnt help with pain management, root canal,or tmj" and gave me two referals for two other places for root canal and tmj.. What upsets me is,the dentist had NO cause to deny me pain medicine after explaining to me how she KNOWS Im in pain due to the tmj AND need for a root canal! She just simply gave me that look healthcare prof give to Anyone in pain and not showing a broken bone..I understand that there are many people who abuse pain medicine, and people who lie to prof just to get pain meds,BUT I have clear proof of why Im needing pain medicine And the dentist voiced to me how she Knew I was in pain so WHY WHY WHY did I still get treated as a "drug seeker" and/or abuser and get b.s from the dentist I just met???? I am Very un-happy with this dentist.
