I was a patient here for many years. I was always pleased with the midwives I always saw until the last couple of visits. On one visit, I told her that my birth control was giving me stomach aches in the early morning ... thats when she said "Oh no, you have a stomach condition and shouldnt be taking something that metabolizes in your stomach" WHAT?!?!?! I had been taking it for about 7 years. It could have caused a stomach bleed and I could have died. So I told her I would simply go off of the medication because I didnt need birth control anyway ... perhaps my irregular cycles had resolved themselves. She told me not to be stupid. That I had PCOS and if I went off of the medicine I would be infertile within a year or two. Again WHAT?!?!?!?! No one ever mentioned a condition to me. She said they knew from day one over 7 years ago. No one bothered to discuss it with me. She said it was simply a condition that caused infertility. That as long as I took my medicine I would be fine. When I wanted to have kids, she would create a schedule and help me do it. It would never go away and I would always have it. Okay, so keep taking my meds ... got it. Just now, they were new meds that cost about $90 a month (the only thing that metabolized in the liver). So, I kept taking my meds. I year later, my husband (recently married) and I started talking about it and he said that the medication was causing me to have severe mood swings. TRUE by the way. So I took a risk and stopped taking it. A year later, I decided to set up an appointment at a new doctors office, perhaps for a second opinion. MY NEW DOCTOR ... also a midwife said that she suspected that I had PCOS based on my symptoms. I told her that my other doctor had mentioned something about it. she asked what I had been told about it and I told her the whole story. ... She put her head down, shook her head, and said that fertility was only a part of the story and that birth control wasnt necessary at all. She said that PCOS caused severe hormonal imbalance caused by insulin resistance. That if I simply controlled my diet, I would lose weight, get healthy, and avoid long term problems. Oh, did I mention that PCOS causes obesity which causes heart disease, diabetes, and death??? Screw being able to have babies ... I wanted to LIVE!! Not only that ... by getting healthy, I may be able to have children too. When I started seeing South Cobb OBGYN I was 125 lbs and when I went to Doulas Womens Center I was 210 lbs. I gained 85 pounds and THEY NEVER THOUGHT ABOUT MY OVERALL HEALTH NOT ONCE!!!!!!!! Lew-Ann at DWC gave me the literature I needed to educate myself. Over the last 8 months I have lost 50 pounds and I feel better than I ever have. Oh yeah, and Im pregnant! I havent taken any medicine in about 2 years and I am loving life. DWC SAVED MY LIFE!! South Cobb would have let me get larger and larger until I died in my 40s. Not only that, if I EVER wanted to get pregnant, it would have been VERY expensive because I wouldnt have been very healthy and would have needed a lot of help. South Cobb was only concerned with $$$$. PLAIN AND SIMPLE. Lew-Ann at DWC was concerned about ME!

I had a miscarriage in May. The week prior my blood was taken twice to check my hormone levels, over the 3 day holiday weekend I miscarried. On Thursday before I left they didnt tell me anything about my levels just that everything looked fine (I know they cant tell when Im going to miscarry). So Sunday I ended up at the hospital, during my ultrasound the technician pulled up my chart and asked "did your ob not call you Friday?" I said no. She said they definitely should have regarding hormone levels. The doctor later told me that my hormones were dropping the week prior but nobody told me. Then when I went back to the office to get checked, the nurse walking me back asked if I had a good holiday weekend while holding my file. I just found out that Im pregnant again but I am early. I asked if I could come in to get my levels checked they said no that the only appointment they had was for 3 weeks out. So whatever I made the appointment. I started spotting two days ago off and on, called this morning to see if I could be seen and they said to go to the ER and acted like they really didnt care. Last time I went to the hospital the first time for threatened miscarriage (a week and a half before I miscarried) they sent me home told me to rest and call my obgyn. Frustrated is an understatement. I will be going to a different obgyn from now on.

STAY AWAY!! We went here for our second child, What a mistake. No one knows what anyone else is doing. Everytime we show up they have no idea who you are. We go once a week . Every where else we go they know who we are and whats going on. They dont talk to our specialist we were going to FINALLY meet the Dr who is delivering 1-2 weeks before delivery? All we see are midwives. Cant really answer any questions. We had an issue they didnt seem to think was major again its not the DR. Our specialist flipped out and let us know this is a major deal we might have to deliver way earlier almost 2 weeks. Due to a condition. We had to bring this up to the specialist and show them the blood work from mychart wellstar didnt send this to our specialist. Wellstar is the one who sent us to the specialist , it not like they didnt know. This place is like an ER. Go to a OBGYN doctors office not this place. Run do not walk away. If your pregnancy is not perfect they could miss something major or down play it until its too late. First child ultrasounds almost weekly with pictures. This place just makes sure the kid is alive. We asked not to be notified about gender well they messed that up too. They scheduled the c section for one day a month ago now they tell us something different.

Worst experience on May 30th, I came in, told the front desk lady I have an appointment . (First red flag )she looked at me.. first thing she said you may be in the wrong building. Why not sure?? I been here plenty times before so I know where my appointment was made. I came in 1hr 15 minute before my appointment was at 2:20 I arrive around 12:20. The front desk lady (dont know why I didnt get her name) Stated well u arrive early go have lunch and come back all staff in that facility will be having lunch at 1:00pm. So better finding something instead of waiting. No problem. I asked if there are some paper work to filled out? she yes if you filled them out u will be able to come in quicker. I came back forms ready 2:35 she looked d at me she said oh I am sorry wont be able to see you? So where my appointment went? is there something you forgot to informed me one hour prior. Her guest service was from the floor, mean rude from the front. Being so upset I will be taking my behind where friendly and excellent costumer service will be provided.
