The building is difficult to find the first time, even if you are a Gainesville native. Once inside the office is nice, the doctor and assistant are pleasant especially since I have vsp vision insurance which provides a generous stipend for eyeglasses. All was well until I paid for the doctors visit and asked to get my pupillary distance which is a measurement needed to buy glasses online. I fully intended on spending my stipend on glasses in the doctors office but as soon as I mentioned that I would also like my measurement so I could order online in the future the environment got very hostile. The manager was called over to talk to me, the doctor, and the assistant who had previously been very polite. They proceeded to talk down to me about how 1) it wasnt their choice not to release this measurement but a higher-up 2) I was not entitled to receive this measurement even if I bought eyeglasses from them and they had the measurement 3) That it was a glasses measurement and nothing to do with my eye exam. 4) They were unable to give it to me because of liability if I ordered the wrong glasses online (an outright lie) 5) It was also accused that I wanted to buy my glasses online and they knew what I was trying to do. Needless to say I thought the situation had gotten out of hand. I asked for my prescription so I could go elsewhere and was given it by a huffy glasses salesman. I plan never to go back. If you are in the situation where you are fully planning on buying glasses there and to continue to order glasses at full retail this is a fine place to go. The doctor and assistant were knowledgable and kind (unless you ask for your pd). If you want to get your pd there are other doctors that will let you pay $25 to get it (but will claim liability until you push) or measure your own. I hope this will allow you to make an informed decisions regarding the practices of your eye doctor.

The staff is vaguely courteous but they kept trying to convince my mother that she needed laser cataract surgery and Multifocal lenses...I have friends in medicine/ophthalmology and asked whether it was necessary. Ill tell you they told me that laser cataract surgery is an over-sell out-of-pocket money maker for MDs who invest $450k for a laser and for patients who are willing to part with and extra few thousand dollars per eye for a surgery that has 98% success by traditional methods using blades and such. Do not buy into this stuff...the whole place is setup to take your money...they charge crazy prices for glasses and in the past wouldnt give my mother her pupillary distance even after paying for the exam and the prescription. Go far away from this place if you want service and care about money...

The office called and emailed me to remind me of the appt. and I was thankful for that since I had not entered it Into my calendar from the year before. I was immediately received, checked for insurance and then placed in a comfortable waiting room. I waited approximately 4/5 minutes before seeing the Dr. The Dr took his time checking my eyes and quickly decided my glasses needed a slight correction. I waited a while to talk to someone about glasses because they were very busy. I was told it would take up to 2 weeks for the glasses to arrive but actually they called to tell me that they had arrived after 1 week. All in all Id say that was an excellent experience from start to finish.

These People are thieves... I need my contact prescription to shop prices. They will only release it if I pay them $25.00 They did not tell me this upfront or I would Not gave used them. It is not the money, it is the principle. After a rude conversation with tier contact person last night I went to day to order contacts or get my prescription. Neither could be done because their contact person is off on Fridays. How would they feel if they went to a service industry an could not get what they needed because the one person that could help you was off. What happened to Cross training? Please like and share this so no one else will make the mistake I did!!! BILL PLACHTER

If you 2 Vision Insurance plans - go somewhere else. They will not file your claim with both insurance companies, which is ridiculous. BOTH of our insurance companies stated that whatever the primary doesnt pay should be submitted to the secondary company to pick up the remainder up to their allowable amount; however, North GA Eye states that they have never done this & makes no sense to them. Thats like having 2 Medical plans & telling me that I have to have an expensive procedure done yet youre going to make me pay the remainder of the bill & not submit that claim to my secondary insurance. Idiots. I do Medical Billing and this is NOT how it works.

Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. I have been a patient for over two years now and have had nothing but a good, professional service. My eye exam was thorough and the doctor and technicians took the time to make sure that my eye-wear would meet my daily needs, i.e. driving, computer work, watching television, etc. The turn around on glasses and contacts prescription orders has been very fast. The opticians spent time to ensure that my glasses fit properly and were comfortable to wear. I will definitely be back and have recommended them to friends and family.

Took my daughter to see Dr. Gertsch on the pediatric side of the hallway, he was great!! From the time I walked into the office I was greeted with smiling faces. Dr. Gertsch took his time with us and made sure we understood everything. He also spoke to my daughter, asking her questions and making sure she was comfortable during every step. When it was time to pick out glasses we went back across the hall and meet with Mrs. Amy. She was so kind, patient, and knowledgeable. She helped my daughter find the right fit that we both were comfortable with.

We recently saw Dr. Gertsch for my daughters eye sight. The appointment went great. They dilated her eyes and the process went very smooth. Once we got her prescription we went next door and met with the wonderful ladies who helped us pick out glasses for my daughter. Stephanie is awesome and helped us fit her for glasses! My daughter has since broken her glasses and we made a trip back up to see Stephanie again! As always she had a smile on her face and helped us get them fixed!

Amazing experience, as always. I have been going to N GA Eye Clinic for 10 + years. I had Lasix surgery here in 2007 and it was the best money ever spent! The Doctors and staff are all friendly and compassionate. I just found out that I need reading glasses, and Tara and everyone in the eye center were exceptionally helpful in helping me find frames that look great and were reasonably priced. I highly recommend N GA Eye Clinic to anyone looking for any eye care needs!
