If I could give negative stars, I definitely would. The only reason for even giving 1 star is solely due to the front desk staff that was very friendly and helpful. This place is very beautiful and upscale looking, but VERY deceiving. We took our cat because she had all the symptoms of a urinary tract infection. (this was the diagnosis given to us by several different vets over phone call because it was the middle of the night and her normal vet was closed.) We finally decided that we did not want to wait til the morning to take her to her normal vet, so we drove 45 minutes to Woodland because it was the closest place. The two ladies at the front desk were super nice and friendly, but that was the only good part about the visit. When we finally saw the vet, he basically just looked at (never once did he even touch the cat, except for with a stethoscope for 2 seconds.) Without even spending more than 45 seconds with her, he starts saying cancer is a possible concern. REALLY??? She is 1 and a 1/2 years old. Im not saying that she couldnt have cancer, but at least be willing to look at her thoroughly and possibly even touch her before making such wild presumptions and totally freaking out the owners! At this time the he left to work out a "game plan". We actually never even saw him again after this. The tech came in with a list of about a dozen different procedures that they wanted to perform on her. Each of these procedures were itemized and were all very expensive. At this time, we decided to call some more vets and get their opinions if this was normal. At least 4 different vets, and one of them being a highly regarded University Vet school clinic from my hometown that is known for being fairly high priced itself, told us that these prices were extremely high and that it seemed like they were charging for a lot of "fluff" procedures. All together, they wanted to charge us between $780-$900 and it did not include medication. At this time, we decided we would wait 10 hrs to be able to take her to her normal vet, so we paid the surprisingly reasonable $40 office visit fee and left. When we saw her vet in the morning, they determined that it was in fact a urinary tract infection. The total visit only cost us $150 and it did include medication. After this experience, I decided to do some research online and check reviews for Woodland. I certainly noticed a trend. There are a lot of reviews that talk about how great the facilities are and how nice the front desk staff is. Well, this is definitely true. However, any negative review that you find on there says the same thing. They were all insanely overcharged. I can only assume that they are able to trick many people into thinking that their pets need a lot of this extra stuff that is highly unnecessary. They take advantage of people in an emotional state and use it for their monetary gain. Personally, I find this to be borderline "criminal". It may explain how they can pay for such nice facilities and staff though. I do believe that people should take every necessary precaution to make sure that their animal is taken care of, but by all means, I recommend that you find somewhere else to get treatment for your pet. I sincerely do not feel that these people are capable of doing any form of veterinary practice correctly. My advice to Woodland would be that you should absolutely take a deep look into how you are treating and caring for peoples loved pets. I hope that you are never put into a situation one day where you need help and someone else uses this as a time to take advantage of you.

I got up one morning a couple months ago to find my 10 yr old male Chow Chow coughing/puking up nothing but straight blood, not just small amounts but huge puddles/quantities. I literately started freaking out and called Woodland, telling them what was going on with my dog. They calmed me down and advised me to bring him in as soon as possible, that they would be ready and waiting if I would call them when I was close to arriving. I did so and they kept their word, taking us right in to an examining room. They wasted no time checking my baby out and once the assistant/technician had finished her part of the examination/tasks, the vet on duty that day/time, Dr. Brandon, came in talking to us while also doing an examine of Bruizer from head to toe. Daddy and I talked with him about what all could have caused Bruizer to be throwing up so much blood and as we discussed possible scenerios, Dr. Brandon narrowed it down from 4 or 5 causes to two (2) possible reasons. cThey did blood work, feces labs, temp., etc as we waited on his blood work to be completed. They continued to come in room and check on us and Bruizer while labs work was being done. The bloodwork showed adult heartworms and also babies in his blood, So Dr.Brandon came back in examining room to discuss what options would be best for Bruizer while also making sure the option we decided to go with would benefit not harm Bruizer also. Option of 3 injections over a months time caused Bruizer to be prepped with meds for 2 weeks then his first injection and a month later his 2nd injection, keeping Bruizer overnight without hesitation when I told him traveling stressed him out, so he could get his 3rd and final injection the following day. But Dr. Brandon would anwer EVERY SINGLE ONE of my questions thoroughly, then ask me if I was okay with that answer and/or if he answered my question/concerns thoroughly and eased any concerns/fears I had about Bruizers future even though he is pushing 11 years of age. (Chow life spans are normally 10-14 years with some exceptions {praying my Bruizer and Molko are the exceptions}). I have NEVER had a doctor, little lone a vet, to be so encouraging/enlightening/thorough/understanding/accepting/etc and I absolutely love EVERYONE at Woodland. As long as Woodland will continue to treat/take care of my babies/canine family, I will continue to FOREVER be a client/patient!! And refer them with the highest regards to everyone I know that has a pet(s). Thanks again Woodland for ALWAYS taking care of my furry babies and calming my fears when Im almost hysterical/out of control!! You guys truly are the best vet/animal hospital in the South/Southeast States!! In my book!! Sincerely, Jennifer Coward (aka Bruizer {red male 10 yr old Chow} & Molko {black 8 month old Chow})

We have used the hospital on 2 occasions for emergency purposes only and both times were awful. 1) my daughter took a stray puppy she found on the side of the road here who was visibly very sick. Turned out he had parvo. They immediately told her to have him put to sleep. Well let me step back for a minute...first thing...they wont touch your pet until you put down a $300 or $400 deposit. Thats just to get the ball rolling. So l, my daughter did this and asked for the puppy to be treated. Then she was talked into credit care because the deposit wasnt going to be enough to cover treatment. In less than a 24 hour period my daughter was $1200 in debt and still being told to euthanize the dog. She removed him from Woodland and took him to McDonougj Animal hospital who had him up and running in less than 2 weeks with a final bill of only $600. This included medicines, boarding and aftercare. 2) The second time we used them was when my parents dog was found unresponsive in her pen. This time they did take the dog back immediately but stopped working on her because my 77 yr old father couldnt come up with the deposit they require. Also, I knew upon putting the dog in my car she was most likely not going to survive. So between my father and myself we came up with the deposit and they continued running test on the dog. We were then told she had a less than 5% chance of survival and was advised to euthanize. While we were waiting for them to prepare for the euthanasia the dog stopped breathing and I went to tell them we would not need their services because the dog had passed away. They removed the dog from my arms and took her to another part of the hospital and then told us her heart was still beating. Which I believe it was because she had not defacated on her self. But I told them my father was a retired person on a very small fixed income and we would just let her finish passing at home, to which the vet told us "Oh no, we cant allow that." Now do not forget, until we came up with the deposit they werent even going to do anything else for her!!Now while we are going through all of this they have already sent another person in to start selling us what i now refer to as their "death package". Wood coffins, urns, paw print plagues etc..Even though I wanted my father to save his money and take the now unconscience non breathing dog home he was so upset he paid $250+ to euthanize an already deceased pet. We will never under any circumstances step foot back in this place.
