This is my second time at Star Physical Therapy. They are the BEST in the Western suburbs. The first time I went to them for help was for a torn meniscus in my knee. They fixed that with exercises and treatment. It prevented my needing surgery. This time I went for severe back pain. I couldnt stand long and it really interfered with my daily activities. Today, my back pain is gone and I am walking straighter, too They used exercise, ultra sound, massage, deep tissue vibration, and something that was like a high quality TENS machine to which they added moist heat. I actually looked forward to going because I felt so good afterwards...almost like I had been to a spa. Also, Dr. Shaabans demeanor is so professional and his staff members are encouraging and kind. They really care about their patients and that makes a big difference in healing. You never feel rushed while you are there and they seem happy to see you. Parking is plentiful and the agency is easy to locate on the corner of 63rd and Fairview in Downers Grove, IL. I hope I dont need to return to physical therapy, but if I do, I would definitely come back to Star Physical Therapy. I would highly recommend them to anyone who needs to do physical therapy for any reason. You will get the help you need by going there. First Sessions 3 years ago I went to them due to a torn Meniscus, bone spurs, and arthritis in my knee. My ortho talked about knee replacement. They fixed me up and now Im walking like a normal person and didnt need the surgery. Each and every person who works there is super kind and they go above and beyond to encourage you and help you to get better. Plus, the treatments that they also do are so incredibly helpful.

I injured my back and was referred to Dr. Hassanein of Star Physical Therapy for treatment. I entered in such pain, I didnt think anything was going to work to provide me with relief. I sat and waited to be seen and observed Dr. Hassanein working with an elderly woman in a caring, respectful and dignified manner as he supported her efforts to walk safely. Then it was my turn. I met his entire team, Ria, Diana and Im sorry I cant remember the spelling of the delightful Polish therapist. The entire team lead by Dr. H worked together to make me free of pain, advised me on proper posture exercises/garments, iced, massaged and jolted me with electronic therapy. From stretching exercises to my most favorite, cervical traction, Im happy to say that Im free of pain, comfortable and going to continue some of the exercises I have been taught to keep myself healthy. As a nurse, I learned so much of what my patients actually go through that it increased my sensitivity and empathy for all my future patients dealing with skeletal/muscle/joint issues. Dr. Hs joyous laugh, Rias smile, Dianas magic hands and my fellow Polish physical therapy friend helped me so much, I can never thank you all enough. I will be the first to highly recommend your center for anyone I know who may need your talented team in the future. Again, my heartfelt thanks and appreciation to have met all of you and benefitted from your commitment to providing a high standard of care to your patients. Margaret Markosek

I have been having lower back problems for some time now. At times it was so bad I could not walk. I was told I had lower back muscle spasms. The stabbing pain in my lower back at first responded to anti-inflammatory and muscle relaxing pills. This usually took several days to 5 days to recover to normal. Finally the pills didnt work for 3 days and I got my first dose of steroids. 5mg. pills for several days and the pain went away in less than two days. But my problem kept coming back. And, I didnt want to keep taking steroids. I tried physical therapy. for twice a week and for several months. Everything seemed to be OK. I got the muscle spasm back again and I went in to the doctor to get relief. He recommended physical therapy and I told him I already tried that. He wanted to know where I went. He told me he had back problems and showed me a back stretch exercise he got from Star Therapy. I could feel the relief just being in that position. I thought physical therapy was physical therapy. It makes a difference where you go! I have gotten a great group of exercises to maintain my improvement. Wonderful people who really care about your health and future well being. The only bad experience I had was that the physical therapy had to end. I highly recommend them.

After I had a medicine pump surgery for chronic pain & spasms from MS, I was referred to Star Physical Therapy. Dr. Shaaban Haas has been an outstanding physical therapist. He has also helped me tremendously with pain management. I notice a big difference in weeks where I havent been in the clinic compared to how I feel without. His entire staff is so very warm & welcoming just like him when I come into the clinic. It feels more like a family setting than just working on your pt with strangers because you have to. Dr. Haas is an excellent source of knowledge in helping you to get closer to your goals & is very encouraging. His staff is also very encouraging & talented. Each one has their own specialty & such a huge asset to helping Dr. Haas to get you onto that road of success. I already know Im on my way. You will be too if you join the Star Physical Therapy Family!!

I have been going going to Star Physical therapy on and off for about 8 years now and have nothing but terrific things to say about the chief physical therapist (Dr. Shabban) and all of his wonderful assistants. I have been treated there over the years for a chronic neck condition that flares up (he gave me a home follow up treatment regimen for recurrences of this problem) from time to time as well as a very painful scapular (upper back) muscle pull a few years ago, and most recently, an inflamed rotator cuff condition in my shoulder. Since having treatments such as massage, electrical stimulation, ultrasound, and a thorough exercise regimen for each occurrence, none of the problems have yet resurfaced for which I am truly grateful. I highly recommend them for any type of condition needing an aggressive treatment regimen!

Pain in neck causing a great deal of pain when turning to one side. MD recommend I try physical therapy before anything else. Shaaban and staff have helped immensely and are very friendly and knowledgeable. Initial treatments included cupping, ultrasound massage, electric stimulation, and traction. The combination has made the pain go away. Last few visits worked more on strengthening the neck muscles. I have been pretty good about doing exercises at home, which makes a big difference to success of treatments. Limited hours there makes it a little tricky to get in when you need to, sometimes, but it works out. Ive been to other therapists over the years who just rely on exercise/stretching and Stars combination of other treatments seems to work very well. Will be back again.

Dr. Hassanein ("Dr. Hass") and his staff provided me with about 10 weeks of physical therapy for a painful "frozen shoulder". I am impressed with his knowledge, experience, and skill, and his care not to worsen the injury by excessive force. His treatment brought a rapid improvement in range of motion. The pain was more stubborn -common for this condition- but even that improved during the weeks of treatment, and now Im able to sleep much more restfully. Im very grateful to Dr. Hass and all his staff, who made my treatment successful beyond my expectations. I highly recommend Star Physical Therapy. Dr. Hass and his staff provided me a high level of care in a warm and friendly atmosphere.
