I went to the Will County Community Health Center Clinic when I did not have health insurance. It was cheaper than going to a private clinic, but it was not free. I completely lost my faith on government run health-care program after that. They treated me like I was a lesser human being. I had wait for more than an hour even with an appointment. The doctor spoke down to me. I was insulted and humiliated for not having the money to see a private doctor and for coming to the Will County Community Health Center Clinic. I called the management of that clinic and left messages, no one returned my call. I called again and I finally got a hold of the acting director, he spoke with me as if I was lower than an animal, not worthy of living. As a tax payer, I deserve better.

The reviewers below me clearly have a an ax to grind. Anyway, Ive gone here for several years, and it isnt that bad. The people are friendly for the most part- some of the staff arent so stellar, but you get that anywhere. The physical plant is relatively nice, especially for a health department. The wait can be long, as can the wait at other clinics (Ive waited over 3 hours at Urgent Care by St. Joes). The vaccine clinic is usually very quick. If youre uninsured, in will county, this is one of the only options. Other options include the Will Grundy Free Clinic and the University of Saint Francis Health and Wellness Center. The health department is probably your best and quickest option, though.

I have been coming here for years and there hasnt been a time where I was taken in at the time of my appointment. I have waited up to 4hours for a walk in appointment and over 2 hours for an appointment I actually had. When you go up and ask what is going on they basically tell you they are behind and look at you like you are dumb. I really like the way the Dr is she answers all my questions and all but the wait is just ridiculous I am now looking for providers in my area.

not a warm atmosphere...staff very cold...does not seem like a place that is here to help anyone....went with a friend and observed his experience and others...also visited here two times before..trying to seek service for medical and dental...whatever your situation is......prepare yourself if you have to go here.....this place needs some loving people in it..there are none.....

No facility will escape criticism, but my experiences here have been above average, and better than many private facility visits in my past. The staff has been reasonably attentive and kind, and Ive never left angry, or disappointed. I would keep them as a primary medical resource, with or without insurance.
