Inefficient and rude staff. Family member was admitted with migraine, anxiety and depression issues. Rather than keeping her in the medical care area as directed by her psychiatrist (it was the chronic headaches that created issues with anxiety and depression), she was thrown into a psych ward. Imagine having chronic, intractable migraines and severe anxiety issues while a patient two doors down is screaming random words and noises for hours on end. Worse yet, this was their "high functioning" floor. I asked the staff why is this person in a high functioning area? They’re full in our other departments and we’re doing our best given the situation. How can you expect someone with migraine and anxiety to relax and get better in this type of environment? Everyone has to share a room, no tv and no music as these “create isolation issues and music can trigger aggressive behavior for those with hallucination issues!" The floor has both men and women wandering around all hours in a "confused daze." Some of the male patients are too violent and aggressive for a roommate but apparently theyre just fine aimlessly walking the halls knowing that all the rooms must be kept unlocked and doors open. Being assured that rooms are checked every 15 minutes by staff does not relieve my stress over safety. I told them the initial evening that something was dramatically wrong and this isnt why we are here. How can you possibly attempt to treat depression and anxiety if you cant get rid of the headaches which have been relentless for months? The following morning, her headaches and anxiety were worse than ever and the Dr and psychologist agreed by 9am that she’s in the wrong place and needs to be removed. My multiple phone calls went unanswered in the morning and our psychiatrist (not affiliated with the hospital), is appalled that she was placed in the psych ward when she specifically recommended medical care to relieve the headaches and oversee the depression med changes. Her nurse Gwen, ignored her requests for food and scheduled meds for over 2 hours on her 1 and only morning. Finally by 11:50, I receive a call back that she’ll be discharged immediately but I need to sit through a family meeting first at 12:30. Following the meeting I’m told that the same nurse who ignored her all morning, has 2 other discharges to handle first. I’m told to come back later but knowing that this place was making her issues significantly worse, I requested to speak with a manager, Christina, who couldn’t take 1 minute to speak with me and simply scolded me while walking past barking out “1 hour… come back… DEAL WITH IT!” I call back 1 ½ hours later and am told Gwen’s not done yet and she will call me later. I reply, I was told to wait an hour and then come back and it’s been 1 ½ hours. “You’ll just have to wait, there’s nothing more we can do”. Could Gwen give me a time since I’m waiting in the car with our kids? “No, she can’t.” I then ask to speak with the manager and am instantly told, “No, but you can leave her a voicemail and she’ll call you back when she’s free.” The sad reality of this place is that, like most businesses, they have good, great and awful employees. While I didn’t find any great ones, I’m sure they exist. My experience was horrifying and I could not recommend that anyone seek assistance in that facility until management is overhauled. Their task is not an easy one but, I feel the many years of facing difficult situations and patients has forced them to lose the human, emotional and caring side that I’m sure existed at one point in their careers. This loss of their emotional side is well documented in the medical industry however, that does not mean it should be accepted!

I was in Linden Oaks for multiple weeks in the fall of 2015. I was 16 at the time, and the unit I remained on for those weeks was extremely helpful. The staff quality can not be over stated, they were excellent. The staff is perfect at developing helpful relationships, while maintaining a professional, objective focus. The willingness of every staff member to individually go out of their way for anyone is so great its truly surprising. The food quality was above par for any medical establishment. The beds and other nonmedical services they provide are all good. The system and groups implemented to help assist a person during their stay, are all helpful and important. The democratic nature of many parts of a persons hospital stay truly helps eliminate any feelings of being contained against your will. It is a very clean, caring, efficient, effective, and positive treatment facility. If anyone you know or yourself requires this type of facility, I would recommend Linden Oaks.

When I was at the Linden Oaks inpatient program, the staff were rude, didnt care about the needs of the patients, left a patient in restraints alone in a room and let him scream, did not allow a patient to call their lawyer during the short time when we were allowed to use our phones, forced a patient to take a medicine while refusing to tell them what it was, and did not teach any real coping skills. Additionally, in the adolescent unit, the mental health patients receive the same treatment as the teens who are struggling with substance abuse, which are two very different issues. Also, several patients were able to smuggle in various items that were against the rules for safety reasons. Do not go to Linden Oaks, it will make the patient feel worse and there are definite safety concerns at the facility.

If you even sort of care about your loved one, do NOT send them here. They basically told me that if I told anyone but a therapist anything I would make all of my relationships toxic. They have a huge lack of empathy and honestly they do more harm than good in the long run. If I ever have to go to inpatient again, which hopefully I dont, never coming back here.

The waiting was far too long for a simple assessment. An informational sheet said 2 hours at most and we ended up taking 4 and a half hours, most of that time being waiting. People have busy lives and things to do, places to go. Ones outside life and plans should not be compromised because of the extremely slow work being done.

The BHAs, clinical therapists and psychiatrists are incredibly compassionate and genuinely invested in your welfare. I feel like every adult over the age of 21 should HAVE to go to Linden Oaks for a 3-day camp to learn the communication, coping skills, DBT and mindfulness techniques that they teach you there.

Please do not bring your loved one to linden oaks , for me they demonstrated a serious lack of care and compassion for someone I love very much called numerous times to get answers -- no call backs this is a robotic place to deal with

This was one of the best places for inpatient treatment. Ive been to many inpatients and this by far is the best. Quality care and staff members that care. This is the "country club" of inpatients.
