I have sat in the "dinning area" for 3 weeks now..it is a sadness I find hard to write about. There is certainly a lot of shades of this sadness to discuss. But what I should not have to write about and I am is the food situation here. There is plenty of food served on the plates but what is served is more often then not cold. Food is cold, fruit served is hardly recognizable, the milk is not even placed in a glass-when say glass I mean a brown 1970s looking plastic coffee cup. The dinner on Monday was again hot dogs, served cold, on a cold bun with cold vegetables. The vegetables are a source of frustration to all the "guests" because they are cold but are under cooked for the audience. This would be fine for most but for elderly with few teeth and maybe none it poses a problem, frustration and futile endeavor. I have spoken with the staff about having a microwave available, or providing warmer food as well as the tough vegetables concern to no end. I have written Alden Terrace in hopes there will be a change for the better. I have watched several of the guests approach the help there asking for warmth to their meals and softer veggies to no avail. I am now writing this review for all to view.

i was there recovering from a heart episode.luckily it was only a few weeks.the food was horrible.the residents usually just asked for pbj or cheese sandwiches.on a few nights they ran out and people actually refused foor.everyone seemed so sad and old(i was only 41) that i mostly ate in my room.the couple times i ventured to the dinning room and tried to be friendly i was followed back to my room by confused old men cuz i looked like their deceased wives..i was glad to go home.the aides were ok for being overworked but when i first arrived i had to attempt the bathroom walk unassisted because no one answered the call button.i actually called thedesk from my cell to try to reach someone.i can only imagine how it is like for those who are unaware that they arent being cared for..one plus tho.the rehab staff was very very nice and helpful..

My stay at Alden Terraces in McHenry was the most horrible experience. The some of the staff are so rude to the patient. You have to wait hours before someone comes to your asstense. I had one day i need to go to the bathroom and there was piss all over the floor. The staff did not care. I do have only one good thing to say about Alden Terraces of McHenry. The rehab and staff members where the best thing of my stay.

I was there for six months. Sucked the big wazoo! So unfortunate that the people I met are hopefully still there surviving. The administration is horrible. A year after I made the decision to come home got notification from my insurance company they had been paying for me still residing there, a year! WTF?
