He is a decent doctor who is majorly handicapped by a front office staff that is rude, careless, and incompetent. I went there for an eye exam which went fine (except he never gave me dilating drops) and then all my problems started. I asked one of the office ladies if she could switch out a broken nose pad on my year-old glasses from a different eye doctor. She did it; however, she put a quarter inch gash on the inside of my glasses. I unfortunately didn’t notice this until I got home and cleaned them. Two days later, I picked up my new colored contacts, which were awful because I could not see out of them. I mentioned to the office lady the scratch on my glasses and without even letting me finish my sentence she just said “I didn’t do it” something it seems that all the office women are trained to do because that was everyone’s reaction on each subsequent visit I made to fix the problems. She said to bring the glasses in so they can see them. So the next day, a Friday, I went back to return the colored contacts and to speak with them again about my scratched glasses. Again their reaction was “I didn’t do it.” I also mentioned that my contacts aren’t working and she claimed that there was no way I bought these contacts there, in essence calling me a liar. She looked up my chart and lo and behold the contacts were from this eye doctor. She and the rest of the office women then went into the back to probably talk bad about me for five minutes to only come out and say that since it was Friday the doctor wasn’t in and only he can fix issues like these. So I stormed out of there. I finally received a call from the doctor and he also inferred that I was lying and that none of his “girls” up front would do something like that without owning up to it. But he was willing to make me pay for the lab fee to replace my lens. How is that right? Make the customer pay for your carelessness. He would also exchange my contacts to clear ones. So the following Monday I went in to pick up the new contacts and had to spend over 30 minutes arguing with the doctor about paying for the new lens and that I was now being charged $180 for contacts that only cost $60 for a 6 month supply. He was finally willing to give me $50 back but he still robbed me. He also wanted me to sign some form saying they were not responsible for any damage the lab does to my glasses. I mean, why the hell should I be now short a full set of glasses based off their mistake? So I refused to sign the sheet and he gave in after debating it for 5 minutes or so. My glasses did come back from the lab unscathed but just aggravated me on principle. Sorry this review is so long. In short, avoid this establishment. There are better eye doctors in the area with MUCH better service. This doctor seemed to miss the Business 101 concept that the customer is always right. He and his staff instead opt to call them liars. I will be returning to my old eye doctor, also in Mokena, for my vision needs. I have gone there for over 10 years and never had any problems. Even if something wasn’t working, they always try very hard to get it right. I unfortunately only went somewhere new to make sure I wasn’t paying too much. The cost was so much higher at In Focus (even with my Davis vision discount!). What I was paying for a YEAR supply of contacts at my other doctor is what I paid for only a six month supply at In Focus (comparing contacts plus exam and fitting). Total rip off!! Trying In Focus Eyecare was the worst mistake I have ever made!!!

The doctor is very nice and walks you through the exam process well. This barely makes up for the office staff who are impatient, unclear, and can come off condescending. I was originally thinking I would give this a 2 star rating, but I went back and there was one different staff member that day who was much more personable. Still, there were others who spent their time complaining about my insurance and couldnt help me make sense of my charges.

Great experience! Helpful staff! Dr. Guenther is a fantastic doctor. They helped me pick out the perfect pair of glasses from a huge selection. And had a nice little play area to keep my son busy! Thanks!!
