I have been going to Knollwood for years. The staff is great and the care could not be better. I have always found their prices reasonable and have appreciated Dr. Mitchells conscientiousness about saving me money. Her blend of Western and holistic medicine has been so helpful for my pets as they age (I have had 2 rabbits with arthritis). She is always current on the latest research and is able to enumerate the pros and cons of treatment options so that we can choose the best option both for my pet and my wallet. In addition she and her staff are kind and compassionate to animals and owners. It sounds like the negative reviews are basing them on one experience. I have had 6 years of frequent visits and nothing but good experiences. I cannot imagine a better veterinary hospital.

We tried his vet after recently moving. It is expensive, the staff is rude, and they over-mediate. I brought my itchy dog in with a sore from scratching, and they charged me an arm and a leg, wanted 2 follow-up visits and 2 rounds of antibiotics (the second time because it was healed but still pink? HELLO it is new skin) Because were still tracking down the source of my doggys allergies, this is not the first time we have been through this process. and they treated me like an animal abuser and GOSSIPED about me behind the closed door! So unprofessional. I havent been back and would definitely not recommend it.

There is no better veterinarian in Northern Illinois than Dr. Mitchell! Dont let the unassuming store front in the strip mall fool you. This is the place to take any dog or cat that you love. Dr. Mitchell correctly diagnosed in minutes a problem that resulted from a tick borne disease in a dog that I had been taking to another vet for over a year. And she quickly spotted a life threatening blasto infection in my current dog that had only a persistent mild cough as its symptom to my untrained eye. I would not consider another vet for anything but emergency treatment.

The care was good, and the staff was friendly. However, the prices are VERY high, and the care does not make up for the price. I had my puppy spayed there and it cost nearly $600. When the scab was healing (almost completely healed except for one small scab), I took her in for a follow-up and the vet peeled off the remaining scab. The wound would have healed within a couple of days had she not done that, but because she picked the scab, it took another 2 weeks before my dog was completely healed.

Dr. Mitchell is the best vet we have ever encountered and saved the life of a our previous senior cairn. Her combination of traditional and holistic medicine cannot be beaten. Our current rescue dog has many health issues that Dr. Mitchell has treated successfully and given our dog a much better quality of life.
