The vet techs and one of the managers accused me of lying saying that "I was changing the Story". I took my dog in for a teeth cleaning they call me and tell me they want to pull 18 teeth, I said Im only authorizing the molars as of now give me ten minutes to talk to my family and I will call you back. I called back and I said were not going to have any more pulled. My moms gonna talk to you guys.So then after my mom talked to the vet tech, I get a call saying weve pulled 9 teeth. they tell me some fell out assuming that when they told me 9 teeth were pulled It included the ones that fell out. I LOOK IN MY DOGS MOUTH SHE HAS ONE TOOTH ON HER LEFT SIDE. Im getting charged for these 9 teeth that were never authorized. I also got quoted two different prices in the middle of these conversations. I tried asking which teeth were the worst and the vet tech said theyre all really bad. However, any Human dentist can tell you which teeth are gonna cause more trouble than the others, so I expect a Vet and an experienced vet tech to be able to do the same. I would like to add that I know enough about dental care to know that when teeth are in bad shape they can cause pain and bone loss and other problems. I expected her to need a few teeth pulled, but I had no intention of letting them pull all of her teeth without discussing it with my family and a vet to tell me how this would affect her quality of life. According to their vet tech I said go ahead and start pulling all of her teeth, I can tell you without a doubt word for word I said, " As of now Im going to authorize just the molars give me ten minutes to talk to my mom about this". The molars are the back teeth which is what most people chew with and end up getting cavities in first or having trouble with. These teeth would most likely have been in the worst shape. Which is why I said pull those, since the vet tech on the phone could not simply identify which ones would be the most troublesome teeth in her mouth. They basically wanted me to make a quick decision over the phone about my dogs full set of teeth being removed. Furthermore, they were pressuring me into pulling all of her teeth over the phone even after I said NO. I am going into healthcare and one of the first things we learned is not to make decisions for patients and not to pressure them into doing something. What you are supposed to do is give them their options and provide all of the information regarding those options. After my dog was in recovery several of my family members called regarding the issue and what I will say is the staff is rude. The manager said, " I have been on the phone with your family for two and a half hours" ,"I have other things to do". Guess what I have other things to do to and one of them was not being accused of being a liar and having my dog missing half of her teeth. I have NEVER in my entire life been treated like this by any business mind you this is a healthcare facility. WHY would I lie,WHY? What purpose would that serve me? I know what I said and shame on you for treating your customer like theyre a criminal. And Ive worked in retail never ever have I or any of my managers accused a customer of lying. THE BOTTOM LINE IS YOU AND YOUR DOG ARE BETTER OFF NOT GOING TO YORKVILLE ANIMAL HOSPITAL.. Weve done business for years with this place, but never had surgery or any procedures. Come to find out this is how they treat their customers. I will be taking my dog elsewhere and I wish to have no association with this place after this. LASTLY, I would like to say if you wanted to pull most of her teeth why would I pay to get her teeth cleaned? It makes zero sense to clean her teeth if she had none so the charges would have been unjust if she truly truly needs all of her teeth pulled.

After going to our regular vet clinic for 17 years, we switched to Yorkville Animal Hospital because of the convenience of the hours, no appt. necessary, the state of the art facility and the friendly employees. We had to take our beloved dog into Yorkville Animal Hospital for a cough. Over a period of three months he was seen and treated by four different vets at the Yorkvile Animal Hospital as his coughing did not stop. He was given two rounds of antibiotics, had radiographs taken, bloodwork done, etc. Finally, after a few months and many visits, it was decided that he probably had allergies and Prednisone, a steroid was prescribed. Very suddenly, the dog developed massive fluid retention in his abdomen and from seeking information on the internet, we speculated that he was probably experiencing congestive heart failure. We took him into the Yorkville Hospital and they advised that we should rush him to a cardiologist. At VCA in Aurora, after signing an estimate of $1700-$2500, our dog was stabilized and given a diagnosis of congestive heart failure and a prognosis of 6-12 months. All I had to do is Google "congestive heart failure" and one of the first symptoms that come up is "coughing". Yet, four different vets were unable to diagnosis the dog, They took radiographs, but apparently were unable to correctly read them as the Cardiologist remarked: "Previous thoracic radiographs and clinical signs supported the presence of congestive heart failure". We realize that an earlier diagnosis would not have changed the prognosis, but it certainly would have lessoned the heartache and expenses of the emergency room visit and it would have eased our dogs suffering from a constant, chronic cough for months. We wrote a letter to the owner of the hospital as well as the manager, explaining our concerns about the failed diagnosis and treatment of our dog - in the letter, we asked for no compensation or refund, we only asked that he review the case so it doesnt happen to anyone else. We did expect a response, if only a form-type letter acknowledging our concerns. We received no response - nothing. Im guessing that they must have customers lined up and waiting to get in as they couldnt be bothered to respond to the concerns of a current customer. We have now taken our dogs care elsewhere.

I had to get my dog spayed at this facility under the contract from the rescue I got her from. I got her spay and dew claws removed all at one time. There were a bunch of extra charges that I had to pay for in order to have the surgery done that I did not know about until I was there ready to hand over my pup. They also told me they could not use dissolvable stiches for the dew claws, even though my normal vet says that is all he ever uses. After the surgery, I returned for my dogs 3 day check up that they required. At this time I had still never met the doctor that did the surgery nor was I ever allowed in the room with her. At the check up, they proceeded to give me attitude since I wasnt having my dog wear her cone 24/7, I only made her wear it when she was alone. They then told me I needed to come back every 3 days in order for them to rewrap her paws since I wasnt keeping the cone on her. Note: when they wrapped her paws, it wasnt just covering the incision, it was pretty much her ENTIRE legs. I went in one more time for another check. Again, getting yelled at for not having her wear her cone. Which I told them, she is still able to reach her paws even with the cone ON. They didnt seem to care. They also never informed me about anything. I would bring her to get her paws rewrapped, they would hand her back to me and say, "See you in 3 days." I had no idea how long this was going to continue, or when her stitches were even supposed to come out. I just got back from a check up with my normal vet and he agreed with me that they were way too over cautious and making me come back every 3 days was very unnecessary and he also made quite the face when I told him they never let me in the room with her and that I had no idea when she was getting the stiches out. After looking at the incision, he was very concerned to how big of an area was cut open, seeing as her dew claws were not that big. He told me not to bother going back to Yorkville and he would take care of them. I will never again set foot in Yorkville Animal Hospital. Thank goodness for my vet!
