I wish to commend the work of Dr. Susan Kovacich and her team of students. For many years, I have been unable to see clearly -- both short distance and long distance. Ive seen multiple optometrists and ophthalmologists who each identified my astigmatism and need for bifocals as the problems. Over and over again, I was told that my contact lenses were "as good as it would get" in improving my vision. Its been a very disappointing adventure. A friend suggested I visit the Atwater Eye Care Center for another opinion. I was directed to Dr. Kovacich. She and her team were extremely patient. They completed a thorough eye exam and we tried various contact lenses. Each time, after a week of wearing the lenses, the team fine-tuned the lenses fit and prescription. Much to my surprise and complete delight, Dr. Kovacich was able to correct my eyesight to 20/20! Each day is amazing as I now see objects, signs and landmarks that I never could see in the past! She has opened a new world of sight for me. I have been prescribed a type of toric lens which helps correct for the astigmatism and aids the need for bifocals. Other doctors had mentioned this rather newly created product but quickly dismissed it by saying it did not work for the majority of patients. Dr. Kovacich was willing to try and was positive, rather than negative, about the potential results. Im so happy for her "can do" attitude because the toric lenses are wonderful! The contact lenses are very comfortable and, of course, my eyesight is sharp. I highly recommend Dr. Kovacich and her team for their professionalism, medical knowledge, up-to-date knowledge of industry products and research and their willingness to find the RIGHT solution! Im definitely staying with Atwater Eye Care Center and Dr. Kovacich!

For four years, my son has been under the care of Dr. Lyon and Dr. Jarrard at Atwater Eye Care. Through a rigorous program, we did therapy five days a week at home for 45 minutes a day for 3 years, my sons muscular eye issues were controlled and he has 20/20, binocular, 3D vision. Something he didnt have before. For past two years, weve worked with Dr. Jarrard on vision processing issues. Dr. Jarrard has been my sole support in working with schools and teachers who dont quite want to acknowledge that my sons learning problems are neurological. In all the times I doubted myself, she stood behind me. If you even think your child has vision issues, go to Atwater. Commit yourself religiously to the therapy at home for results. Also, note that a basic visit is @$42 and affordable, and I paid cash every time since it wasnt covered by insurance. There were times when I received a simple parent consult that took an hour and was never charged. Dr. Lyon and Dr. Jarrard and the whole staff have helped turn our lives around, and I will always be profoundly grateful to them.

I made no less than 6 trips to the clinic. To put it simiply, they just couldnt get it right. I asked for glasses to read papers at my desk and my computer screen at the same time. What I got, over and over and over again after regrinds, was a pair of glasses that focust at 6 inches and, well, nowhere. The reading lenses give me double vision at the distance of papers on my desk. The mid distance lense is just a poor focus at any distance. They folks in the dispensary were extremely nice. They tried hard. But they were never going to succeed when they were given the wrong Rx. Over and over again. And the optometry students and faculty? Also nice. But I explained the problem thoroughly on multiple occasions. Results become more important than manners at some point.

This place is terribly inefficient and poorly run. Additionally, it is even a little more expensive than a normal eye clinic even if you are an IU employee like me. Expect to be there for 2-3 hours and have to return one week later for another 1-2 hours. Complete waste of time. Even the waiting room has a sign up saying they are trying to address long wait times, and you should talk to the front desk if youve been waiting for 20 minutes or longer. I have not been in the waiting room for less than 30 minutes. You will save time and money by parking in their parking lot, walking across town to walmart to get your eyes checked, and then walk back across town to your car.

I have been a patient of Atwater Eye Clinic since 1989. During that time the Clinic has reviewed my eye care regularly. Together, with their advice, we have worked with infections, eye prescription changes, cataract surgery, lazar surgery, hole in one cornea, and old age problems. I have been more than satisfied with the learning and supervising process. All the results of the source recommendations and follow through, once finished, have been superior. I always recommend Atwater to my friends, and those I meet who are less than satisfied with their treatment and need good counseling and help from the best. In my book, Atwater is "The Best". I have a very difficult problem with ocular rosacea and with the exception of only one doctor (who I only saw once) all the doctors have been outstanding. Because it is part of the School of Optometry, you will first be seen by a student, but then a Professor will do a thorough examination. Because I have a difficult problem, they are extremely thorough and go out of their way to help you. Some people dont want to spend the time with the very thorough exams, but I much prefer this to other eye doctors who tend to rush the appointments. I feel I get the very best care at Atwater.

First time I went it was a long wait, but I got my glasses. The second time I went I had to argue with them about the prescription being bad. I kept telling them the letters were still blurry but I could tell what letter it was, and that it hurt my eyes. I finally got a different prescription, but I wont go there again. The lady that manages the eye glasses section is an awesome person. She actually helped me with my glasses prescription and talked to the doctor about it.

I have an extreme eye astigmatism (kerataconus) and the outstanding team at the Atwater Eye Care Center were able to fit me with suitable contact lenses that are not even on the market yet. I appreciate the fact that I get a very careful, complete appraisal of my eyes at Atwater and that everyone is pleasant, professional, and definitely focused on providing the best care possible for their patients. I would not go anywhere else with my difficult eye situation.

Have been going to the Atwater Eye Center for about 6 years, the first half of which I lived 150 miles away. Have been thoroughly pleased with the experiences throughout that time. Have met many competent, professional and friendly students, and also several highly qualified optometrists. During the past year, I have been seen by Dr. Tonekaboni several times, including post-op (cataract surgeries) checkups and glaucoma monitoring. Simply amazing!

If you want to help students learn and have lots of time and the stamina to endure the bright lights in your eyes, it is a beneficial thing to go there. However, you are being examined by a learner and you would think that they would charge less so that people come. You would be wrong. They are one of the most expensive places in town. I was a customer for 8 years but they have priced themselves out of my philanthropy.
