Went in on March 14th to have my sons eyes rechecked and new glasses for him. Here it is march 30th and we still have no glasses. I called and talked to one of the staff members on Monday and the only thing she could tell me was they were cutting the classes on Monday almost two weeks after the fact that my son had his appointment. So then I get a phone call on Wednesday, yesterday, from the manager Scott and he informs me that he has no clue whats going on hes just relaying a message that the glasses are still not there. So I asked him to compare this to his child if it was his child would he be okay with it being two weeks later and his child wearing broken glasses and trying to get through daily life and he told me that his children are different than my children and that he make sure that his children or taking care of basically. To me this isnt fair you should treat your customers better than you treat yourself and by this I mean I make sure that they have what they need in a timely manner and if it is not done in a timely manner make sure that youre at least respectful to your customers. Ive been coming to Dr Tavel since I was a child and Im now in my thirties and have taken my child there who is now a teenager. I will NEVER go back this place is horrible the staff members have no clue they are ignorant and arrogant. I only hope for dr. Ivan ball that he gets staff in there that will keep his business open and not run all of his customers off from being as childish as they have been over this. When it comes to a child you do what you need to do to ensure this child has their Vision at whatever cost and I have done that my whole life and the only thing that is left as for the staff to ensure that my child has the proper eyewear on his face just as I have done his whole life and they cant even do that in a timely manner. To Scott, the manager, who looks at his customers as nothings is NOT ok! You need to know that how you treat and talk to people is not the best. You should be the one who is trying to get to the bottom of trying to figure out why there are issues on getting the glasses! And also call people back when u say you are going to... That just makes people mad and gives the company a bad name because you all cant do as you say you are going to do! And to the young girls that work the front, learn how customer service works and apply that to your customers! It is because of you all that Dr. Tavel is going down hill quickly!

There are the words that you say with your mouth, and the words that you say with your tone, and the words that the staff had to say to me with their tone were unkind at worst, indifferent at best. I felt like a cattle shuttled around- "come here, go there, take off your glasses, no Im not going to tell you what this machine is before I make you remove your eyesight, I dont care about your questions, I dont want to interact with you". The doctor initially sounded irritated with me but was kind after, but I cant say the same about the rest of the staff. I also work customer service, so I am sympathetic to indifference towards customers - but id argue that this is supposed to be a professional establishment. This is medicine, this is my eyesight, it deserves your attention, it needs to be worked by people who care. They did a passable job, but I wont be returning.

While other reviewers have seemingly had issues with the staff, I personally have had a great experience every time Ive been there. I went a number of different places before trying Dr. Tavel, and this is by far the best experience Ive personally had, something I dont usually expect from a "chain" type store. They always get my an appointment right away, they always get me extra contacts if I run out and my new order hasnt arrived yet, and the entire process was very pain-free. The staff has always helped when I needed it. Unless something changes, this is my optometrist of choice here in Bloomington.

1. The doctor tried to talk me out of getting glasses even though Ive had glasses for 15 years and I cannot read or drive without them. 2. They didnt fit the glasses to my face. No measuring. Not even the pupils. 3. When I got them, they obviously didnt feel right because thats what happens when you dont measure. They refused to refit them without charging me for a new pair. I went there because Im broke. So Ive been stuck with a pair of glasses for 2 years that have never fit and I feel like theyve made my eyes worse. Id avoid this place. I dont know what theyre deal is. Maybe theyre just lazy.

Morgan at the Bloomington location was very helpful. My daughter has severe ADHD and Morgan took the time, stayed patient, and helped her find a frame that she has yet to stop talking about. She has been on snap chat and instagram since we picked them up getting fabulous reviews from her friends. Making an appointment was easy and they had my insurance ready to go when I arrived. I will be a repeat customer! Thank you!
