Yesterday was one of the hardest days Ive been through in a long time . I had to put down my sweet little girl, Jackie Chan. AS most of you know she developed a tumor under her right arm and it was starting to cause pressure on her chest so I knew it was the best thing to do for her ... I took her to Boulevard Animal Hospital because Dr Woodward he had done lots of cats and dogs of ours in the past, which all turned out great, I figured my sweet pet rat would be no different ... it was the most terrifying thing Ive ever been through ... He would not let me hold her while he tried to poke her with the needle then grabbed her so aggressively that it smashed her against the table that she began screaming ...I begged him to let me hold her while he tried to get the needle in her skin but he refused and said it was because of liability reasons if MY pet rat bit ME ...he then tells his assistant to get the gloves just in-case...Dr. Woodward now puts on leather elbow gloves that are for large breed dogs and once again grabs her so hard shes screaming non stop ( rats dont nor mall do this unless in pain or frightened ) and im begging him to let me hold her but he still refuses...he now has her by the tail and once my tries to poke her in the air with the needle so I ran out of the door only to hear an even more intense scream from her outside the room ...I go in and he has poked her once then dropped her on the ground ...she runs under the counter into a crawl space and we could not get her ...they told me they would call me when they found her and I could get her ...Well they called me today to tell me they caught her, killed her and I needed to come dispose of the body. I told him, while in tears, that they were suppose to wait for me and would not answer why they didnt but kept telling me to come get her ...i live an hour away and told them i wouldnt be able to do it for a few days because of work and time scheduling. Dr woodward then told me hed live her outside all night cause he could careless, just wants a date to set her outside. This has been the most traumatic experience. If you love your pet and want them to die peacefully DO NOT GO TO BOULEVARD ANIMAL HOSPITAL.

All I did was call and they were rude. I decided to disregard the multiple negative comments and give them a call to price the cost of having my puppy neutered. During the 2 minute phone conversation the women interrupted me each time I tried to ask a question. She said I needed to bring proof of his vaccinations, which I was aware of after calling three other offices, when I proceeded to tell her where they were done to ask if the papers we have would be acceptable she stopped me and announced that it doesnt matter where they were done they needed proof. She then said I had to come in to show the vaccination proof and then make an appointment. I began to tell her the other offices just told me to bring in his vaccination records the day of, when she interrupted me AGAIN. She was eager to inform me they will not do that they need proof before making any appointment. If she would have been patient she would have found I respected their procedures I just wanted to ask if I could know the current available dates, as Id like to do it asap, before making the trip to their facility. I felt rushed during the already short conversation. I continued to try to be kind and said thank you, I probably will not be seeing you but I appreciate the information. Not that she cared, I heard "uh huh," "ok," then the sound of the call being ended. To be fair, it was a very short conversation and the price was almost 1/4 the cost of the other places I previously called. Although, if I wanted cheap I would go proceed with an animal clinic and I want to ensure the safety of my pet after hearing story after story about others experiences. After receiving rude answers during such a short phone call I believe Ill be much happier taking him somewhere that allowed me finish my questions and answered them efficiently. I only gave two stars because I have not taken my pets here therefore I cannot comment on how well the procedures are done and animals are treated.

I took a Whippet to this clinic to have a lump on his back removed and asked the doctor what kind of anesthesia would the dog get because whippets, like all sighthounds, have very little fat to distribute the barbiturate throughout their system and it is a known fact that their organs may be damaged or not survive the surgery if the lack of fat is not taken into consideration. I was concerned that the doctor did not seem to understand the sighthound pecularity to anesthesia. He insisted that anesthesia is delivered by weight of the animal. Sure. But he was not listening to me and to what I was saying. On the day of the surgery I brought an article into the clinic to explain what I was talking about and ask for a local anesthesia instead, after all it was not a big deal. When I talked to doctor again, he asked me how many whippets I had lost to anesthesia. None, because I was aware of this problem since whippet number 1 out of 12 to date. I was then told that he could not help me and declined to perform the service that I had paid some money for already. To be fair, they did good work on our Beagle prior to this event but if the doctor is not willing to cooperate and listen to his patients owners, after all they cant speak for themselves, then its not worth it to go there. Better go somewhere else, which is what we are doing all four of our dogs!

I have been taking my pets to this vet for 3 years. My 7 year old German Shepherd passed away last year. After a couple of months someone gave me a pit bull puppy. This little guy is the most even tempered lovable puppy Ive ever seen. My Shepherd could be meaner than the devil himself but this 11 month old Pit is an absolute angel. There isnt a mean bone in him. I went to take him in for vaccinations since trying to obtain past records for him was a little sketchy. I was greeted by a receptionist who told me "he doesnt take Pit Bulls any longer". I could hardly believe that this veterinarian had fallen into believing the stigma attached to these beautiful loving gentle animals. Note to the receptionist: a smile goes a long way. You should try it sometime. Note to the Vet: shame on you. You not only lost my business but my whole familys as well. None of us will be back. You might want to think about retirement. Your bed side manner is LONG gone. You should love the work you do with our pets and it is very apparent that you do not.

I have never been treated with such disrespect from an establishment before. I am a first time pet owner and I brought my puppy in. Right at the beginning, the receptionist was taking down my dogs information and I told her that she was a Belgian Malinois. She proceeded to write down German Shepherd because "thats what she looks like".......Those two breeds looks very similar, yes, but that is not what she is. The worst part came when I met the Vet. He was explaining her medicine to me, and I asked him to repeat it because I wanted to make sure since he was speaking quickly. He asked me to read out loud the dosage on the medicine. Then he asked if I knew how to add 3 and 2 together and if I went to school in Richmond. I said no, and he said "well then you may not be familiar with this"....No one deserves to be treated with such disrespect. I will never go there again or recommend this "Vet" to anyone.
