What a rip off place!!! So I got a root canal and needed to get a crown for my tooth. I called them to ask for the price and they said that I needed to come to the office so the dentist would look at it and give me an estimate. I already filled out all the papers and was waiting for the dentist when front desk girl told me that the check-up would be 108$... with an x-ray.. OK, I said. But I already got all the x-rays I need. You can just call my endodontist and they will email it to you. She was like "Ok. Its a good idea!" (no way...) I thought since the x-rays are the most expensive part, the check-up wouldnt be too expensive. Though I still couldnt really understand what I need the check-up for.. Dr Johnson looked at my tooth for 2 seconds. "Confirming" that I need a crown and brought me an estimate. Thats it. I paid 80$ for her to tell me that I need a crown. Which I already knew. And she started asking me right away if she could schedule a cleaning for me and if I would be interested in whitening my teeth, etc, etc... I know part of it was my own fault. I shouldve asked about the check-up price first. Sorry but its not the way to do business. Waiting till the moment when its too embracing for the client to leave and then tell them how much it actually is. I know I wont come back to that place.

I usually dont write reviews, but I went here because I got new insurance and thought the reviews were decent. However, the way they treat their patients here is just wrong. I scheduled a regular checkup/cleaning and was told by the hygienist I have periodontial disease and need to come in to get my teeth deep cleaned (two separate appointments and painkillers must be used.) and then every three months to prevent "further bone loss." FYI I am a 24 year old healthy person who has no prior dental issues and has gone to the dentist every six months for my whole life. My other dentist has NEVER even mentioned anything like this. I felt very weird about this visit (and still wanted my teeth cleaned.) So I went to my previous dentist who I found out is still covered with my insurance and they told me my teeth are perfectly healthy with no mention of any disease or concerns. This place only wants your money. This was an hour appointment I left work early for and they did not clean my teeth, only poked and prodded and used scare tactics to try to get me to pay over $200 out of pocket for a cleaning to combat a condition I do not have. They want to scare you into costly procedures that insurance only covers partially. Take my advice and either get a second opinion or avoid this place all together.

I just left my appointment here which was my first visit. I will NOT go back. My appointment was for a cleaning. I sat in the chair for an hour only to get xrays and a list of work they want me to have done. I asked if they were going to clean my teeth today, they said NO. They wanted me to come back for a "super" cleaning. I stated that I really wanted my teeth cleaned that day as my retainer was really bothering me and they wouldnt do it. What the heck!? So they wouldnt give me a cleaning , but wanted me to make an appointment to come back for suggested work. NO WAY. Also, very tacky how they have their receptionist randomly call people back who were on the caller id, but did not leave a message. Very Sales Driven - Not much heart. I would NOT give a recommendation for this Dental Office. Sorry!

I have been a patient of Dr. Johnsons for several years. She is very consistent with how thorough she is and she takes care of you in a timely manner. I have a filling on a front tooth shes done due to a defect that turned into a cavity. Nobody knows its there and I have to think hard to remember which tooth it was. Ive never had a bad experience with Dr. Johnson in my visits with her. Im very strict about service! Shes one of the fastest dentists that doesnt take away from quality. I was upset that I had to move away due to change of work. Nobody around me has been very good so I drive quite a ways to visit. I highly recommend visiting Dr. Johnson. Shes got a Keurig machine and is great with kids too! The office is very clean and its beautiful. Oh and the dental chairs are super comfy!

I have been a patient of Dr. Johnsons for many years and have followed her to her new beautiful, dental practice in West Des Moines. Dr. Johnson and Tara are so kind and make me feel so comfortable when I walk in the door. Having a filling was so easy with Dr. Johnson. She was so gentle and caring throughout the whole procedure. She does great dental work. Also, Dr. Johnson is honest and trustworthy and that was why I followed her to the new location. The dental practice is so clean too. Dr. Johnson truly cares about her patients and I would not go anywhere else! I highly recommend going to Valley Ridge Family Dental.

I have been a patient of Dr. Johnsons for almost two years. I transferred from another office where I felt like I was just another number. Here I felt more welcomed and relaxed. They are very thorough and explained my needs well. I even got to see my X-Rays and up close photos of an area I was concerned with that turned out to be no big deal! I look forward to seeing them every six months.

I had my first visit today and was very happy with the atmosphere and treatment I received. The office is new and VERY clean! Love that I got to look at the photos and x-rays that were taken, something that my old office did not offer. I really feel like they care and want to help me be as comfortable as possible. I will definitely be going back.

I hadnt seen a dentist for 4 years before going in to see Dr. Johnson at Valley Ridge Family Dental. I knew I had some problems and I was dreading the bad news. Dr. Johnson and her staff were very kind and did not make me feel guilty or embarrassed about my cavities. I will be going back to Valley Ridge Family Dental.

Dr. Johnson and her staff are very informative! They provide a comfortable environment for every family. There has never been a fuss with our children going to see the dentist since becoming patients. She is able to answer all of the questions you might have. Dont dread going to see the dentist anymore...

Dr. Johnson and her staff are great! Like many people, Ive always dread going to the dentist, but Dr. Johnson makes you completely comfortable and helps you understand the procedures and cautiously checks with you to ensure that you are as comfortable as possible. Highly recommended!

I have been a patient here for several years after moving to the Des Moines area. I love that I am seen on time, they are up to date with technology, and they actually take the time to explain everything to me. Top notch care in a friendly atmosphere! My kids love coming too!
