Beware!!! I went to this location of Aspen Dental about 15 months ago for a infected tooth that needed a root canal. I was in dire need of help and it was the place that could get me in and handle the problem. They got me a referral to a specialty dentist that does root canals because I have sinuses that are too close to the roots of my teeth. That is where the good ends. I went back about a week after my root canal and got a temporary crown and fit for a permanent one. I swear on all that is holy, that the person working on my mouth didnt have a clue what they were doing. I was in pain, ignored at my pain complaints, and sent home with an ill fitting temporary crown. I had to have it "reglued" in my mouth several times. I went back to get my permanent crown with no real trouble with the procedure. Trying to leave was a hole different can of worms. I was detained in the managers office and told I had to apply for a loan to take care of the "debt" I owed for the services. I am double covered on dental through my parents and those policies are some of the best on the market. I should have owed at most $15, but the loan they made me take out was over $700. The office manager told me that as soon as they got paid from my insurances that this load would "go away". It might have if that had not been fraudulent, and fail to file my insurance. I then had the loan company to deal with. For almost a year the loan company and the collection companies were calling, mailing and basically harassing me, all because Aspen wouldnt file my insurance. Then almost one year to the day, we got an expiation of benefits from my insurance. Aspen had finally filed my insurance, one day before they could no longer. Aspen is a preferred provider for BOTH my insurance companies, meaning that they have to take whatever payment that is given to them and the patient owes nothing. When my mother, who works in employee benefits and insurance companies, and I stopped in to request payment to the collection company, the office manager said that I still owed over $300. If you are looking for a fraudulent company that you want to waste your money at, you found one. These people claim that they help people with limited income and are "affordable". They ARE NOT. Run away! It is a money pit full of fraudulent snakes!!

I spent a long 8 months at this place. With out going in to great detail, I will just say, I am so happy Trina was there beside me through this (hell)/journey. The dentist I was first seen by was not competent, No bedside manner, no real explanations on what she was going to do. I had several teeth pulled, but she missed one, then had to go back and pull it later, which set my healing time back. It took two immediate partials before I could even eat, I lost a lot of weight because of this. Weight I could not afford to lose... Then, I went in for another appointment, and there was a new dentist, Dr. Joseph. I was being fitted for my final partial. It didnt fit, he tried everything, he finally decided, it had been made too soon. He went above, and beyond, to get me another one made. He made the mold, and three weeks later, it was time to go back for my final partial. I am just going to say, the nightmare was over, it was perfect! He scheduled me for adjustments a week later, and I didnt need any. No sore spots, nothing! For the first time in 8 months, I could chew food normally, even steak!! I just wanted to cry. I can finally smile, BIG! My teeth look great. Would I recommend going to this Aspen Dental? 8 months ago, I would have, and did say, dont ever go. Now, since they have an amazing and caring staff and competent dentist, yes, I would. They are a bunch of laid back, easy going, but professional people. I wish my whole experience would have been this good.

First, I thought the staff was very professional but the office manager lied to me about my coverage. I asked repeatedly if she had checked my secondary insurance and assured me she had. She gave me an estimate of nearly $2800 and I asked her a third time if had checked both insurance policies and told me we had to have 60% as a down payment. I informed her my wife would be following up. I called my wife and told her what transpired and asked her to check into it. She called the office manager back and questioned her about how much each policy covered. She said $548 for the primary. My wife asked her again how much the secondary insurance covered and she told that she didnt know, because she never checked even though I had asked three times and she told my wife twice that she had indeed checked. This was unbelievably unprofessional and your manager just assumed we were dependent upon Tricare dental and would obviously not being able to pay. Ive never felt so humiliated even after reminding her my wife is a highly paid analyst and I had dual coverage. As for the dental technicians, hygienist and Doctor, they were exceptional, friendly and professional.

The girl that did my X-Rays was excellent, very friendly. I found out that my 40 min wait to get in was because there is only one dentist and she was double booked for an extraction. Id gone to see about getting my remaining 22 teeth extracted and get dentures. The guy in the cubicle next to me had just gotten his dentures and the dentist had to make adjustments. He kept saying they still hurt but she didnt seem to listen to him and sent him on his way. Then she came to me, started looking at my X-ray and teeth going on about which ones would need a surgical extraction and which were simple, and half way through realized she had the X-ray upside down. I was told is have to have all the teeth extracted same day and would take 3-4 hours. My regular dentist wanted to do it in 3 visits, I told her Id rather split it up and she said I couldnt, would have to be in 1 visit. I felt it was too much for 1 visit. Everything felt very hurried and like a factory line. The estimate showed 23 teeth, 19 surgical extractions and 4 simple. My dentist said its 22 teeth with half at least being simple. Wasnt impressed.

Patient BEWARE!!! I recently moved to the Des Moines area and needed a new dentist. I went through my Delta Dental app and therefore trusted this place would be trusted. Boy was I wrong!! The initial visit I was told that legally since they identified potential periodontal disease that they couldnt just do a regular cleaning but needed to perform $1000.00 deep cleaning. I was hesitant but again trusted in my provider. After doing the deep cleaning I scheduled my first of 2 allotted cleanings per year. Surprise to me that they did another periodontal deep cleaning with some kind of irrigation. What I thought was a free service provided by my insurance turned into me owing $150.00 as the insurance only covers 80% of this type of service. When I contacted Aspen Dental I was told that "legally they couldnt do anything less than the perio maintenance and irrigation" and that "I didnt have a choice in the matter". I would strongly suggest that you find another dentist that wont resort to scare tactics and "legally" BS. What are the cops gonna arrest you for cleaning teeth? Avoid this place at all costs!!!!
